Adidas Solar Glide 6 Review! First impressions are not good! In this video I will take you through my view on the new SolarGlide 6 which looks exactly the same as the Solar Glide 5! I was hunting for a good daily trainer running shoe from Adidas so I thought I would try this!

    I would like a shoe from adidas, which has grip in the slippery gym. I have to do some sports tests for an admission. Running, obstacles. What can you recommend me? Solar glide 5 (continental sole) $80, Runfalcon 2.0 (I understood that they have grip and are light, and the price is under $50), Runfalcon 3.0 (I am not impressed by the new design of the sole, and the price is somewhere around $60). Ultraboost 22 are a bit expensive at $120 and I don't know how good they are for what I need. Thank you.

    I’ve been running in the solar glide 5, and as a heavier runner, it’s a solid option, but even then I don’t qualify it as a daily trainer. It’s definitely an easy day/long run shoe for me. The weight helps me maintain a slower pace, and the Boost midsole does a really good job absorbing the impact my 98kg body provides. It’s very resilient and provides some energy return, but it feels it’s best at those slower, easier efforts. It’s not very good at faster work. You are right about it being a good crossover shoe. It’s very comfortable for just wearing around. That being said, if you want a similar feeling foam that’s lighter, more nimble, and just as comfortable, buy the Saucony Triumph 20.

    I just ran my run #29 with my Solar Glide 5 that is almost at 500km . Awesome shoe and it is a pleasure to run with it and in durability it is even better then most shoes from Mizuno and almost as good as the Ultraboost 22. I am sure I would love this version 6 of the Solar Glide. People are way too concern with weight ... and forget about the 100 advantages ...

    I don't have this shoe yet, but am I the only one who, when sneaker companies started making their shoes light weight thinking that the materials being used were much cheaper? I would much rather have a real rubber outsole than some of the foam stuff that seems to have zero traction, or worse the soles that literally feel like they put flocking powder/felt on the bottom like what!?! 😂😂😂I can't stand those shoes

    As a heavy heel-striking runner around 90kg with the need of overpronation control, I bought a Solarcontrol, almost the same shoe. I started using Adidas boost shoes with the 2016 Supernova Glide 8, universally beloved and mourned. I tryed in the meantime other brands with other materials, and even having passed through an unsatisfactory 2020 Solar Boost with absurd pieces of hard plastic between the midsole and the outsole, I have to say that for heavy guys I haven't found anything like TPU that could give that mix of cushioning, responsiveness and durability found on Adidas midsole material. And I never had midsoles lasting that long, keeping the same characteristics from the first to the last kilometer, winter and summer. Just before the Solarcontrol I had two pair of Nike Zoom Structure 23, and on both I could really feel the midsole, mostly on the heel, giving up km after km and letting the foot not so guided anymore. Very few hundred kilometers, and someone could say "well, replace them more often!" Hell no, If I find something that last longer and keep a better performance, why shouldn't I choose that? Because of the fact that they weight 60 grams more per shoe? They still allow me to run my 20km at 6min/km, like the Nike, and even if with more weight, I arrive to the end in better condition. Not all the runners are 50kg, running at 3min/km looking for a carbon plate 180g shoe as daily trainer that has to be trashed after 200km. Maybe not all the running shoes can be evaluated with the same parameters.

    Bottom line…this shoe was never meant for tempo, intervals or threshold. It’s a tank that goes loooooonnnngggg. For a runner who is larger framed it can work. I have 2 pairs of the 5 with probably about 90% life left. My only criticism was the laces were short for a runners knot. Fixed it with a pair of lock laces. I also use them for stroll around/Disney trips. Walking the park with kids for at least 8-10 miles a day these are a pleasure. Also, when I had a pretty big flare up with plantar fasciitis these shoes were über protective for me. To each their own. 🤙🏻

    I loved the Solar Boost range which I think is or was the one up from the Glide. Very stable shoe for just going out for running about, but yes they are quite heavy due to the boost foam. But then I got bored with them. I currently have the Boston 11 which are quite nice, using them for my marathon training. I would just use those Glide's for walking about, popping to the shop etc, probably not at the price tho.

    What Adidas needs is to use Takumi Sen 8/9 design and add a better heel counter and a bit more durable outsole and sell that as a performance daily trainer. Adizero SL is another gimmick. At the moment, you have Boston 11 or Adios 7 to serve as your daily trainer from Adidas. Neither is perfect fit for that role. Maybe next iteration of Adizero SL might use LightBoost which is rumored to be a mix of Boost and LightStrike but really it is largely unknown at this point. Leaked Ultraboost 23 pictures show LightBoost on the foam and the foam does not look like that beaded boost foam.

    I planned to try the Supernova. All I could find in my area was the Supernova+. It felt like a cheap knockoff of an Adidas, probably the most uncomfortable shoe I've tried in years. Between the Supernova, Supernova+, Supernova COS and Supernova 2, it's a mess trying to figure out whether any of them is worth buying for running. The entire Supernova lineup seems to be aimed at the leisure, lifestyle, sneakerhead and kicks market, not runners. They have varying mixes of Boost and Bounce. Bounce is what Adidas usually puts in their lifestyle sneakers that look like running shoes, but aren't. The Supernova COS is aimed at the kicks collector, with a pre-distressed upper and nondescript EVA midsole. Those are usually too stiff and dead for running.

  • @TolunayOrkun

    @TolunayOrkun

    Жыл бұрын

    @@theparalexview785 It was not always like that. In fact, Supernova "Boost" (2017) was a decent marathon shoe which I ran my first marathon (2018). They discontinued Supernova and brought it back several years later as a budget shoe. It no longer has the fine details. Still, it could be better than Solar Boost.

    Im an adidas user for some 30 years, and i have many adidas shoes i would say that the solar line is fine, so is a shoe for easy pace and long miles wtih plenty stability and plenty durability and that is not found in nike shoes and much less in hoka shoes by the way saucony shoes ate great but many of them have poor durability and quality isues! I think that the boston 12 and adios 8 are going to be great and the kind of shoe that you want. I have a Solar boost that lasted 1500 kms and is working fine at this moment.

    Forgive me if someones already said this, Fordy but is there an argument for having a heavy daily/long run trainer (not that I'm necessarily considering getting a pair of these) so that when you slip on those carbon plated racers on race day the difference is even more noticeable and you're able to up the pace more easily? Thanks for recommending the Glideride 3's by the way. They've been ace!

    Yes, Boost is heavy and when they keep adding a lot of it on a shoe like these it becomes unbearable. I am interested in the "Light Boost" material of Adidas. I hope it is better than Boost and Lightstrike and can be used in combination with Lightstrike Pro.

    I was looking for a pair of solarglides ST as I’m an overpronator. A couple days ago I went to an Adidas store and it’s discontinued so one of the sellers told me these solarglide 6 are for that kind of stride, I did a quick research and couldn’t find information at the moment so I took his word for it. Nevertheless, after further online research it seems these are for a neutral stride. Are these really recommended or designed for overpronators? Do you recommend me to keep them anyway (feel very comfortable)? Thanks for your attention. P.S. I’m 42 and was a long distance runner since my early twenties. I was diagnosed with runner’s knee and arthritis on my right knee and haven’t been able to run since three years ago. These were supposed to be my first overpronation trainers for starting doing some short sessions on the treadmill along with physical therapy which I started a month ago. Sorry for the long reading.

    I really don't know what you are talking about. this review is a big failure. I am a woman in mid 40’s. I had surgery on both knees and ankles and I run in the solar glide 5 every day. I also run a marathon in them. I overpronate and with their wide base and amoritization they are excellent. the continental rubber holds the surface excellently. they have great cushioning sistem and safety. of course they are not for everyone, but man, if this shoe is too heavy for you, you need to workout 🙄 There is nothing wrong with the shoe you are just not objecive to take into account everything necessary for a good review.
