I had couple of pairs of the originals from Oi Polloi and managed to bag a pair of the new ones from End, but I have to say that the new ones don't look a patch on the originals.

Yep, going for these too. I’d also stopped buying trabs when Spezial became a thing. Only got back into it from 2017 onwards. I’ve wanted the Ardwicks (and Manchester 89) for years so will be snatching these up. Damn, a very pricey few weeks for me after the Overkill EQT, SNS GT 2, Kith Indoor Super, Wales Bonner Samba and now, hopefully, all 4 of this decade pack. 🙏

The toe box is different as well which I think is an improvement on the older pair, I read somewhere that the newer version is more faithful to the OG California's, apparently when they did the Ardwick's in 2014 they didn't have a pair of California's to reference from. I think the stripes are a massive improvement on the new one's the velour type material looks great, but I prefer the thinner midsole on the old ones personally. All in all these look great and I can't wait to get my hands on a pair.

Love the majority of SPZL shoes but I just don’t get the hype with these, they look just like the Jamaica shoes. Lacombe and Garwen are the only ones I’m going for. Already have the first and 2nd versions of the blackburns so giving them a miss also.

Jamaica didn’t come out till 2015 though as part of the ‘Island’ series set They were originally made in 1976 under licence by Marathon Sportswear in Victoria Australia so was never available in United Kingdom/Europe until the reissue. The Jamaica are a nice shoe I see the similarity with the charcoal foxing band but that was originally used on the California and Florida years before so Marathon probably took influence from that for the vintage Jamaica

@@miamiglia I have them in orange and white leather The front of the leather at the toe becomes a bit funny after a while

Only thing better than the original is the insole. Other than that they look all over the place to me. Another great video tho pal, keep up the good work. 👊

Ah unlucky… but the Garwens are possibly nicer for me… Ardwick is just iconic

The stripes on 14 Ardwick are nubuck like the Topanga SPZL. Both tongue labels are from California 1st one are the 1974 version the new ones are the 72 version. Toe box is more curved on the new version Outsole much darker also on the new version too Colour is more colour contrasted basically the new version is more or less the same aesthetic as California

If you're going to bring them back why change so much detail? Not really the ardwick is it? certainly not the version the majority would have wanted i'm sure.

They might say “Ardwick” on them, but they just aren’t Ardwicks… more gazelle dna than topanga, midsole and toe box are all wrong, among other things.
