Lyrics
I’ll be taking flowers to the cemetery of my heart
For all of my lovers in the present and in the dark
Every anniversary I’ll pay respects and say I’m sorry
For they never stood a chance as if they could
When no one knows what it’s like to be us
I’ve never seen the sky this colour before
It’s like I’m noticing everything a little bit more
Now that all the dust has settled
I rebut all my rebuttals
No one knows what it’s like to be us
Strangers by nature
Strangers by nature
Will I ever get there?
Oh I hope that someday I’ll learn
To nurture what I’ve done

This is almost like a cross between jazz, and the score to a 1940s/50s Disney film. Absolutely beautiful and a style totally unexpected.

The song is produced by film composer Ludwig Göransson who did the score for Black Panther and The Mandalorian for Disney so it makes sense.

“old frank sinatra, ella fitzgerald type songs” u mean jazz music? 😭
I love the fact that the melody in the end follows the same harmony as: "All I ask", the last track from 25. She is purposefully establishing a bridge between two very different, but interconnected, bodies of work. "All I ask", sets the tone for a dying relationship. In 30's first track, she tells us that they've been apart for years, and she's finally ready to let us into the complexity of everything that happened in-between the two albums. That's my recollection. And even if I'm totally wrong, I think it's brilliant. That's art right there, folks. Pure art, made from the artist's most personal and vulnerable. That's the greatness of Adele. She's just brilliant.

1:23 is so special omg. Like, its both vintage and nostalgic, but also somehow very alien, futuristic and modern. It's such a special blend, it's like what aliens would feel is old music. I love it

this chord progression is addicting
Only Adele can mix tragic lyrics with an enchanting melody and makes us like it so easily
SHE IS A ICON,SHE IS A LEGEND AND SHE IS THE MOMENT❤
I've never put on Adele before, but this melody gets stuck in my head daily, it's actual perfection as far as I'm concerned. Of course, the beautiful harmony and timbres absolutely carry it as well (and OHH MY GOD when those chord notes get hit a bit harder), I really look up to this composition and the way it's executed.

oh my god this album is INCREDIBLE!!! adele has finally blown 21 and 19 out of the water, and far surpassed the mediocrity of 25! 30 is full of heartfelt lyrics, slick production and the best vocals of her career. 4 years of rest after vocal surgery has done her voice the world of good. she's so clear, resonant, agile and powerful! i hope she's able to maintain it with all the upcoming live performances. thank you for bearing your soul and heart with us, adele. your growth has been a joy to witness, this album is a gift, it's gonna help so many people!!!

Totally agree with everything that you said except when you called 25 mediocre. Her albums reflect what she's going through in that specific period of her life, so to call that "mediocre" .... feels like you're insulting or minimizing her experiences during that time. And in any case, her vocals in 25 were AMAZING, completely outdoing what we heard in 19 and 21
