    It’s certainly worthy of consideration. I’m trying a couple more pairs to see if I still feel that way. They now have shoe trees on the Artista lasts... which is cool. Their trees are amazing on their own.

    Great video. Interesting that my TLB Artista adelaide has the full seam up the back without the small half seam like yours. I'm not sure either if that is an Artista only detail or if it depends on the model. I need to do a shoe comparison video too just to satisfy my own curiosity. I just haven't placed many of these models side by side like this. Good stuff my friend.

    I thought that G&G would dominate by far but the differences are very slight. I'd say G&G is first by a hair because of the clean back with no closing, then closely behind is Cleverley because of the better looking bottom sole work than TLB. Then just closely behind is TLB(which costs 600 less than G&G and 300 less than Cleverley. If one would paint TLB sole similar to other two brands it would be practicaly no way of telling which is the best one. Other brands far behind imo. It's either TLB really put out the best bargain of all times or other high end brands are ripping us. Gotta get myself a pair of TLBs asap 😁 but then again thats only what I can see, maybe you can point out differences we can't see but you can feel. Thanks for the video!

    @@wishoeguy Hi I seems to agree with Martin above comments. G & G from the video seems to best among all. TLB seems to offer the best value among all in terms of pricing. Alternatively, in my opinion, buying a pair of shoes not only looking at the above video ways of comparison, colours, styles of the shoe, leather used to make, comfort level when you put on, the fit of the last on your leg, etc. For example, the model I like from Carmina may not be available in C N J, GG, etc. especially from Carmina MTO models. Although from what I understood that GC RTW are made by C N J, I still ll buy one Iconic model from GC - churchill is made by C N J. This model is very practical because I can wear a "loafer" with "laces" also come with U throat like the above video models. I share the same liking as Mr Winston Churchill and am sure many others too. Last but not least update us your own ranking base your own criteria that is the most important basis of comparison.

    Thank you for the very informative video. What last is the TLB Mallorca? And how does it compare to the Carmina Simpson last? Is it roomier in the front? I'm having a hard time filling the front of my shoes which results in excessive creasing on the vamp. The Simpson and Inca last are among the rarest lasts that match my feet.

  • @wishoeguy

    @wishoeguy

    3 жыл бұрын

    Simpson and Inca are narrower lasts. This is the Picasso last. I’d go for a narrower width to make sure the forefoot is ok or size down if you can. I can sometimes size down but on some shoes, like CJ I can’t tolerate it because of width or length in certain areas. TLB offers a variety of widths on the customization tool. I’d write to them for specific advice.

    @@wishoeguy thank you for the very quick reply! I'm actually already a half size down on both Simpson and Inca lasts (so 8.5 UK and E width) compared to my real size (measured using a Brannock device). Basically long feet, normal width, but not very "meaty" to fill anything :'( . I know from experience that 8.5 UK is the most I can go down before my toes hit the front of the shoes. I already wrote to Tony and I'm eager to receive his reply! Thanks again!

    I have just discovered your channel. Thank you very much for such an exhaustive analysis. Yes, they are all beautiful. I very much like the beautiful leather of the George Cleverly. I was not impressed by the Carmina. G&G may be excellent but I think is rather overpriced and therefore fit only for wealthy connoisseurs or wealthy, and stupid, snobs. Regards.

    Great idea and fun comparaison but quite incomplete and a bit of comparing apple and oranges... would be nice to compare outsole quality and durability, upper leather quality, construction quality including stitching precision and broguing... I’d would assume G&G would dominate by a long shot. That said, G&G would not be the best shoes for the price... but please don’t compare G&G with FitzPatrick, Carmina and the others. Vass and G&G would be interesting to compare given the price difference when both used a lot of bespoke construction. Still great collection of shoes and an interesting video with lots to learn from. Very enjoyable.

  • @wishoeguy

    @wishoeguy

    thanks for your comment. I do get into stitch density, brogue size and more quantitative measurements as I compare just two shoes. I respectfully disagree with you on comparing shoes of variable quality and price ranges. I think it's important for folks to understand what differences exist between brands and why a shoe can cost $60 or $600 or $6000. By limiting comparisons to only shoes in the same class... i feel it perpetuates the mystery and the aim of this channel is to break down that mystery. Of course I'd compare driving a Toyota Corolla to a BMW X6 as well... something the car companies don't want us to do. That said, i don't want to take anything away from the craftsmanship of shoes in the $200, $400, $600, $800 or $1000+ categories. They're all important, as are the decisions one makes to choose between them.

    The leather on the Carminas ;-)

  • @silentsir2446
    @silentsir24464 жыл бұрын

    Not really a fan of the Carmina. Not because it doesnt look great, but because I dont like it when shoemakers label a leather 'llama' or 'russian reindeer' or some other rare skin, when its really just embossed calf. It feels misleading. Otherwise, dollar for dollar and pound for pound and aesthetically the Carmina wins in several areas over the rest for me. I like its smooth seemless curves, and I like the way the broguing continues uninterrupted in one long, clean sweeping line from the front of the adelaide to the rear of the shoe vs the way the broguing abruptly breaks angularly at the top of the eyelets on the other shoes.

  • @wishoeguy

    I agree re the leather names. I specifically shared that suggestion with Carmina, that it’s misleading and if they want to name it something, don’t name it after an animal in the leather market.

    Are the Allen Edmonds Adelaide shoes considered formal dress shoes?

  • @wishoeguy

    @wishoeguy

    3 жыл бұрын

    It can’t be considered formal because it has brogueing. Even just a medallion takes formality down below formal (Tuxedo, black tie, etc). For modern business dress they’d be fine for nearly all occasions in the US. Each region has its own nuances though.
