Adding Glitter to Jesmonite 2 ways

Hey lovelies, this video is answering another common question I get asked.
Can we add glitter to Jesmonite ? I am going to show you two ways to add glitter to Jesmonite in this video. The first way to add glitter to Jesmonite would be the sprinkle it directly in to the mould. This is the easiest and more Eco friendly way. The clean up is easier as the mess is way less.
The second way I am showing you is to add the glitter in to the Jesmonite itself. This method requires sanding afterwards. This method also renders the Eco Jesmonite no longer Eco. You cannot then wash all of your tools as we do not want the glitter to enter the water ways.
If you find the video helpful please let know.

    Claire you can buy biodegradable glitter or... use the Hemway, was out your tools in a bucket of water and strain the water through a muslin cloth, it will catch all the excess glitter.

  • @ClairesCraftyCorner

    @ClairesCraftyCorner

    2 жыл бұрын

    Heyyy Patricia yes ...the muslin cloth would definitely be the best idea for Bio Degradable. I have just written a pinned comment about this. So, Bio Degradable glitter does not break down fast enough to stop it entering oceans and doing damage. It does break down eventually and doesnt take 200/300 years like plastic. However, it is still not fast enough to warrant washing it down the sink x I should have mentioned this in the video ha ha

    @@aduckofsomesort agreed 🙌🙌🙌🙌 I don't pour Jesminite doesn't the drain ... but I wash my vessels in a large bucket of water. I allow the sediment to sink ... then I strain the water ... before washing my cups I scarpe every bit I can out of them. I don't want it to block my drains. Glitter however, glitter will still get through and get everywhere.

    Oh these look lovely, the glitter in the jesmonite did look so pretty after all the extra sanding work though, but yeah so much extra work for the same effect as sprinkling it in the mould before you poured. I wonder could you then add another colour of resin to the centre of these ornaments where the reindeer and Christmas tree is indebted? Like a white or silver to fill up the indent? They look so pretty either way though, loved these!!
