Adding extra speakers to soundbar!! | David Yeb Vlogs |

I bought a Sony HTCT800 soundbar. Excellent sound but not loud enough, so I found some of my old home theatre cinema system speakers that I don't use anymore. Adding extra speakers made a huge difference. Hope you enjoy this video on how to add extra speakers to a soundbar. Please like and subscribe for more vids. Thank you :)

    Hi David! Thanks for the awesome video and explanation. I was thinking in something less agressive, without opening the sound bar. Can I use the HDMI ARC output + 1 converter HDMI to RCA and them distribuit the signal by RCA making some divisions to other 4 roof speakers? I know that the sound wont be stereo, but will it works? Does the RCA can feed energy to other 4 speakers or I will need an sound repeater? Thanks a lot!

  • @davidyebvlogs

    @davidyebvlogs

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey, thanks for commenting. To be honest, I'm not sure if you convert it from HDMI to RCA; you'll get the power when it comes to the sound. It could work, but I feel that the 4 speaks will act as a resistor, and the volume will be shallow; it might not be as loud as you would like, plus you won't be able to control the volume. I'm thinking You'll need more power because the speakers are powered by the system when you tape into the speakers from the soundbar. But hey, I never tried it before; try it, maybe it will work, and let me know as well. Keep me posted. Hope this helps.

    My soundbar Ht zf9 has a secret audio jacks for subwoofer, rear eight and rear left speakers... You method will risk the amplifier, unless the amplifier is rated for the new ohms of two speakers connected to each speaker... some amplifiers are rated for 6-16ohms... connecting speakers like the way u did will half the ohms, if its within range great (only comment then would be to have installed the female audio jack at the new hole location as oppose to having wires going through.

  • @davidyebvlogs

    Hey @dzabakwesi2213 sorry for the late reply. Answers to your question. It’s not possible to connect your subwoofer to your soundbar without a low frequency converter device. You can get it from Amazon. The reason is when you connect it through wired connection it will produce bass and voice and everything else which the subwoofer was not created to do, it won’t sound nice. it’s close to impossible to connect a soundbar and subwoofer that didn’t originally come in the box together or meant to connect to each other wirelessly. So your best bet is to tap in to the left and right speakers of your soundbar and use the device to covert the low frequency and send it to the subwoofer to produce bass sound only. let me know if it answered your question. Have good one!

    Unless the ceiling speaker is powered, the output will not be as desired. You can take a feed from upward firing speakers to an external amplifier and than to the non-powered ceiling speaker. It will not make load on the internal amplifier of soundbar. Note:- If it works, do cut the connection of upward firing speakers in soundbar; this will give you the desired atmos effect otherwise the atmos effect can be confusing between ceiling speakers and reflected sound from upward firing speakers. Please share your exeprience here if you do this project.

I'm thinking of doing this with a Sony HT-G700 (3.1 Dolby Atmos). I will connect two 3.5 audio sockets to the two sides speakers, and another audio socket to the centre speaker. So, I can connect my X95J TV's center speaker to the soundbar and I will get the opportunity to add two front ceiling speakers (which I most probably will use a modified pair of SRS XB12).
