@Bright-Maths

abrams Munyangiri You would need a denominator that is common to all three. If they are numbers for example... 2, 3 and 5 are the denominators, then the lowest common multiple is 30 so we would use that. If the denominators are algebraic expressions it’s gets more complicated. One to ask your maths teacher to show you!

I didn't understood what she meant by making 3x+21 to 3x-21. 5x-20-3x+21/15 would still have 2x-41/15 as an answer since -20 - +21 is equals to -41
@Bright-Maths
4 жыл бұрын
Because you are subtracting the second fraction, the numerator (3x + 21) becomes (-3x - 21). If you only make the x’s negative and leave the 21 positive: (-3x + 21), you will have: 5x - 20 - 3x + 21 = 2x + 1 so you get the wrong answer.

thank u for such a life saver video but cani ask how did we get 3 as a numerator in second question
@Bright-Maths
Жыл бұрын
We have 2(x + 1) - (2x - 1) on the numerator. This simplifies to 2x + 2 - 2x + 1 = 3 The reason we have a +1 on the end is because we are subtracting negative 1 which becomes add one.

3:08 may I know what is the point of telling us that 6 x 8 is 48? I do not seem to understand that part as no part in your equation involves the use of 48😅
@Bright-Maths
4 ай бұрын
Hi there I am referring to when you add regular fractions with denominators of 6 and 8 for example, you may use a common denominator of 48, found by multiplying your two denominators. Then we apply the same technique with algebraic fractions.
I don't get how you got x+4 on the numerator
@Bright-Maths
3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the second question? We are finding a common denominator by multiplying the two original denominators (think about how you add non-algebraic fractions). Which means the numerator and denominator of the first fraction of multiplied by (x-4) (hence the x-4 on the numerator) and the second fraction is multiplied by (x+4)
How did the +21 become -21 at the end of the first question?
