Addiction | With Molly Mathieson, Alexander Mazonowicz, and Hanna Pickard

What is addiction? Although it is often discussed in terms of neurobiology, this can’t begin to capture what it means to be addicted and what addiction does to our sense of self. Philosophers have long been concerned with questions about the self and identity, so might philosophy be able to help us to understand addiction? I hate that 'disease of the mind'. Those horrible 12 step meetings say this and reinforce that shitty feeling / also justify relapse. It's mostly environmental whether that's conditions from childhood that require a coping strategy or/and societal, political in my opinion, as an ex-addict.
