@@andreaallen1903 yea... it really takes a miracle... considering depression, suicide thoughts, and the addiction itself. I advise people wanting sobriety to get help with a group with people like themselves... AA, NA, church, sports groups with a focus of sobriety, others. There is a group for everyone if they look. Actually i hardly go to any groups anymore, but during the first couple of years i went to church often... different ones.

I really didn’t know how blessed I was until I got sober, there’s so much to live for. 40 yrs sobriety is amazing, and I explain mine as a miracle as well. There’s no other way to describe it.
Praying right now for all who may be struggling in this area!🙏🏽🙏🏽
"Now, I work in a homeless shelter and I see me everyday."
My grandma and my now wife saved my life. Definitely saved me from myself. 4 years clean, heroin, meth, alcohol, pills, cigarettes, and I’ve never been happier. I was so lost and so sad and didn’t even realize how low I was. If you’re suffering, get help, you can overcome anything and it’s always worth it.

I didn't understand parental pain until I became a dad. My daughter is just 17 months, but now I understand how painful it must be for parents whose children struggle with addiction. You just love your child so much, even more than they'll ever love you. And every pain they feel hits you at your core. I'm so sorry for your pain, Kym.

Addiction is chemical dependence. An addiction makes a different physical person as the drug changes him. What normal people think is wrong (getting drunk, for instance) seems like the necessary thing to do to the self-inflicted victim. It leads to either prison or the grave... if you can help the person, don't wait too long.
I could listen to you all day. Your words are spot on and bless you for helping and loving others.
Thanks for sharing your life journey, very enlightening for people who still struggling with addiction
I can't think of anything that's harder than recovering from addiction. Absolutely amazing. Please continue to share your story.
This one is a keeper. Such an important video to watch and rewatch - for those with or with out addiction. Thank God for you.🙏🏻
I wanted to quit. I had just given up on anything working, after trying so many treatments and programs. He makes the distinction well between not wanting to quit and feeling unable to quit. The exact same thing helped me that helped him, people caring who “shouldn’t have.”
You are such an inspiration. Congratulations on your sobriety! You give people hope. ❤
Beautiful human being. May God continue to give you strength each and every passing day Justin. ❤

As a society, we better start considering alcohol a drug. On the scale of harm it's #1 worst substance out here. Drugs... alcohol and nicotine included. Be honest don't lie, ask for help it exists. Peace get clean stay clean

Withdrawal from alcohol is so much worse than even heroin withdrawals. It’s so insane bc it’s a drug no one thinks your going to ever have a “serious” alcohol addiction/issue. It’s a very underrated drug. Bc most all of us drink at the very least at celebrations, but MY family always had “cocktail hour”. Kids were never allowed into the living room where cocktail hour took place at my grandparents. If my siblings my cousins or myself went into the living room area to talk to a parent we’d be given an answer & told “ok, now go back to the tv room”. But we knew why we weren’t allowed, we knew what they were doing! Kids pick up on EVERYTHING! They may not understand the severity or impact it is making on them as children, but what’s also awful w booze is it’s very much a hereditary addiction! Bc I drink nightly NOW. Bc it was alway so downplayed w my family, it was a normal everyday routine. & my grandfather would always be the one to say “don’t trust a man who doesn’t drink bc those are the ones w something to hide”.

It's weird I drank vodka daily for a few years and one day I just quit cold turkey and had zero withdrawal but with opiates its the complete opposite. It's sure strange how we r all the same yet wired differently.

I'm fairly young like this man in the video, just 27. I struggled with serious alcoholism for over 10 years just like him, absolute blackouts every single day of my life and it took everything away from me. I went to rehab and got clean but admittedly I slowly continued to justify using other party drugs because I figured I could moderate myself and they weren't so addictive, but this led to what almost became a serious cocaine addiction that was quickly spiralling out of control. Just took the steps necessary last night to cut that stuff out of my life for good and I look forward to a clean future
Just found this sure grateful I did
Does anyone know how he's doing? I hope you're well Justin.❤️

What an awesome young man... so proud for you... you are such an inspiration... my daughter got out of jail two days ago, she told me she really wants to stay sober and get her son back, she said she’ll call me that night and I haven’t heard from her since.... I’m tired of my soul and my heart being crushed .... I have to let her take her own way, she’s been living on the streets behind a dumpster or in the bushes for over a year now .... I’m trying to sit with the pain, and stop trying to fix it ... because I can’t ... I listen to people like you for hope and understanding.... but I also realize that she’s one pill away from death .... Thankyou for sharing ...

Yes 👍 I know what this is like I was addicted to methadone for 11 years. I saved up and got ibogaine treatment in Mexico it saved my life
I think every day, about a guy i was in love with who loves meth. I never did much thankfully. That was 20 yrs ago he's still in it.
M'son sorry for'ya but I'm need those treatments you got..I'm in the middle of it..
You got wise.
Praise God you were saved
i can probably thank my father for stopping all togther.. it was him that really got me clean, got me help.. i called him at like 23 and just broke down and told him i was doing bad.. got me into a methadone clinic, i cut off everyone i knew that had conections to drugs.. because it wasnt just heroin.. anything that came in front of me i would buy and hoard.. i did have much better conservative powers than other people, i never once overdosed or stayed up longer than 2 days... because i would balance things, i knew doing too much destroyed the fun of it, tolerance killed everything.. so chilling out for a day or two is good to reset the brain... I knew also, that going waaay too hard can change how your brain works.. and thats how you end up like those twitching dudes...
Im bouta cry
Get what you need and leave the rest ❤😊
I need help but Im scared if I tell my psychiatrist I wont be able to take my adhd medication
Yeah, many seem to not know alcohol is one of the worst drugs, and it's very unique with the dying from heavily drinking and then stopping cold turkey.

Wonderful Dad you have. I'm so happy for you! Never really had a problem stopping the drug. For me it was always the people. I don't crave meth and I'm very vigilant about running into those people. God is great! Even the air I get to breathe. So lovely.
We are all so different. I really enjoy drinking whisky and scotch and other drinks from time to time, but I rarely get beyond a tad buzzed, and usually don't even feel anything. In fact, the older I get, the less I enjoy going over the limit. I get sick and I get tired and I don't even have that much fun usually. It's hard for me to imagine what alcoholism is like. But some people's bodies are almost designed for it.

Jeez he really had a hard time accepting the fact that he could change. He’s very lucky that he got another in life. It would have been a shame because he’s such a great looking guy and he could have lost everything!

This is legit. Sad part for me is my family is still struggling with the fact that their love wasn't enough to get me to stop. It took losing everything and seeing myself in strangers to get better. But whatever happened out there to all of us makes us not strangers, it makes us all one. So it needed to happen for me to not take things for granted. It made me become a much better person, at quite the cost. Fair trade ain't no robbery I guess. Reintegration to the family seems to be the hardest part, for me. I can't make them understand, (they're "normie") , all I can do is be consistent. One day at a time. And maybe they'll never get over it and we miss out on all our time together. All anyone can do is the next right thing...
You are very lucky. I wish my friend Al had this happen to him. Instead he is gone. Good for you. Embrace it and live on!
i love you
