    Thanks for the useful information. Actually, I have square grids which I overlayed on my study site, both the study site and grid vector layer are in CRS: [EPSG 3857]. Now I would like to add lat and longs of each corner of each square grid in the attribute table of the grid layer. I need to have lat and long in WGS 84: 4326 datum to use in my Garmin GPS and perform field survey.

    Thanks Rahul, you should be able to use the SAGA tool for this. Open processing and search for "Convert polygon/line vertices to point".

    Thank you for the instructional video. My only question is how to add these fields/data to the actual file, please. I have a vector layer (points) and if I follow the instructions on this video and elsewhere it creates a new temporary layer. However, I actually wanted the new fields in the existing layer, input layer. Can I save the new temporary layer as the original file name and overwrite? Or can I import the new fields from the temp layer into the original layer. Is this what the Iterate Over This Layer option does?

    Instead of accepting [Create temporary layer] use the ellipsis (...) to the right and navigate to where you would like to save the file. Give it a name and it will create a new file. If you'd prefer not to create a new file, open the existing files attribute table, use field calculator and create a new field using $x as the value and a new field using $y as the value. Save your edits. If you need help on how to do the latter let me know.

    Thank you for this very useful video for point layers sir. I was wondering if there is a simple way to get width and height attributes of 3D polygons (such as building facades) in QGIS? I've tried few things in attribute table but I couldn't go further than getting 2D with and height :/ Thanks in advance ;)

    Thanks gokhan. Where do your polygons come from? If they are 3D enabled the z coordinate will provide height. The method in the video is for point layers. If you can send me one of your polygons I can investigate further.

    Is there a way to then update X or y coordinates via the attributes table, and have the points' locations move accordingly ? Or do you have to go through the numerical vertex editor ?

  • @burdGIS

    @burdGIS

    Not as far as I know Amir. The crucial thing to understand here is that the geometry (actual location coordinates) are NOT stored in the attribute table.

    Thank you for the useful video. I want to do something opposite of what you did. I have a list of XY coordinates that each corresponds to the address of a point on the map. I want to mark them on the map and then analyze them using different other layers. Should I make a new .kml file for that? I will appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks!

    How do you get it to display different types of coordinates?

  • @burdGIS

    @burdGIS

    3 жыл бұрын

    Different types as in different formats? This will depend on the CRS. For example if you have EPSG 4326 it will output decimal degrees. You can easily change these to degrees minutes seconds if that's what you need: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnWj1KR_l6q-aZM.html If you were using a UTM projection then output would be in meters.

    Hi, has anyone an idea how I can import coordinates from Google Maps? I have a CSV-file with decimal degrees and no matter what point I take (USA, Europe or Asia), they all end up in the ocean close to Ghana. Example for Munich is (48.135953, 11.576157) What do I do wrong?

    @@burdGIS I was able to fix it. The reason why it gave me length of lines and curviture is because my layer was lines not points (in your tutorial). So I had to Extract the vertices first then Add geometry attributes which does the same than Add x/y field. Thank you for the tutorial it helped me explore with the Porcessing Toolbox!
