I learned from my nutritionist that not everyone should take elderberry. Elderberry leads to a shift in the Th2 response, and those with allergy issues or mast cell disease already have a dominant Th2 response. If you are trying to correct your severe allergy or mast cell issues, elderberry can be a problem.

I’m really concerned that they don’t even know how much is too much. Herbal medicine can go very wrong if you don’t do it correctly. 2 herbalists that I follow here on KZread are always reinforcing the “do your research about interactions and contra interactions.” It just seemed like this conversation was an infomercial “buy our product cuz there’s no downside.” If you’re selling a product as medicine, you really need to be knowledgeable in the possible ramifications of it.

@@aloras405 of course there are downsides and we say that we are not medical professionals and you should be aware of how your body reacts to anything you put in it. We have regular customers that have auto-immune disorders who have no trouble taking it and have actually responded positively to it. It certainly depends on each person.

Elderberry raises cytokine levels which can lead to a crisis in the sickness, and this is done by the body in favor of healing. It's often useful to take echinacea along with the elderberry because echinacea is an immune system modulator and will call him this down if it gets to be too much

Awesome information on this vlog. We have taken homemade Elderberry Syrup for two years now. I give it praise for keeping me pneumonia free for two years. The first little scratchy throat we go to the syrup.

While growing up in the thumb of Micigan, my dad worked all week in Detroit, when the eldeyberries were ripe my dad would take large quantities back to work & give to a fellow worker & he would make a gallon of elderberry wine & give to my dad. My mom loved it, the gallon would last her a year or more.

I made the syrup once and I didn’t like all the honey in it. So, I make the juice and drink the juice straight. I freeze the extra in small amounts. We have a huge elderberry bush/tree, so I have plenty to give away to family and friends.

What are the benefits of cod liver oil and are there specific types or brands that are better for you? Also, is it ok for a pregnant woman to consume raw milk/butter? Mine comes with a warning label but I thought that might just be over reach. I have immune/digestive troubles /inflammatory and breathing issues. The label also warns about consuming if you have immune issues. My thought is as close to nature is best

I’ve wanted to take elderberry because my husband’s family swears by it but being in the season of pregnancies all my research says it could harm the baby if it’s commercially manufactured because it could contain bits of the plant stem. Recommend to make it at home to ensure a clean product. Does anyone know if this is true or a myth?

We have been getting this question a lot since this aired. A simple google search will offer you a variety of answers from “don’t do it!” To “not enough studies” to “it doesn’t matter.” All we can offer is anecdotal wisdom that we have had 7 kids in 10 years, used elderberry the entire time, and never had any issues as a result.

We have in the past, but without putting a bunch of junk in them, they are very hard to keep shelf stable. We are developing a new product that we are hoping to make available in November or so - that won't be gummies - but will allow us to keep the purity of our product while also offering shelf stability.
