Add LONG sleeves to SHORT DOLMAN: 2 ways. Knit & woven. You know you want them!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We love taking our patterns further and now we can use our fave dolman sleeve styles and add on a perfectly fitting long sleeve! we can now make these patterns for winter too!
You will see two examples, one with a short dolman style and another with a dropped shoulder style. We are making easy custom sleeves and it's so easy.
This will work for patterns designed for knits & wovens. The blue woven version in this example is a free pattern I am sewing right now and you will see the final result in a few days. Stay tuned!

Thank you Karina. This is an invaluable tutorial, clear and step by step. I’ve been making my clothes for 70 years and there are still new techniques to improve my results. Plus your modelled finished garments and styling suggestions are super helpful. At 76 I have multiple fitting issues so have had to Learn to compensate for rounded shoulders, forward shoulders and neck, no waist and I’m also a petite plus. My pattern work takes at least as long as the sewing, but I enjoy the whole process and when I fall into a creative hiatus, I only need to watch a few of your videos to regain my confidence and inspiration. I was happy to join your Patreon because your intellectual property is highly valued by me. You are the shiniest tool in my sewing toolbox and I couldn’t be more appreciative.🙏

I’m hoping everyone like us who learn so much from her gives to patreon so she can keep it up. I don’t know about anyone else here but in my neck of the woods there is NO place to learn garment sewing. I choke when it comes to cutting out my expensive fabrics as I’ve run out of old sheets, “cheap” fabric that can mimic my final garment is non existent, and refashioning is something out of my league for now. With her help I’m finally going beyond the basic easy to fit loose styles I’ve sewn for years …and it’s a bear without anyone around to help pin etc. I really do count on her for everything. I watch other KZreadrs but for me it was just too hard to learn with 100 different ways and points of view and Karina really does it all! She saved me from the brink of insanity with her “make a back facing” for the camp collars (that was a forehead smacking moment) so easy and smart and even though a part of me kept thinking that there had to be an easier way I’d never have thought of it; and how to measure the flat pattern at from the neckline down to get the bust, waist, hips really close before the first cut (especially for princess seam bodices which are supposed to be so easy to fit….ha!…sorry, but not without knowing where the important place to start is). She’s worth every penny of my patreon pledge….it would be a great loss if she was no longer around. I guess I’m shilling for her (don’t know her at all), but can’t help thinking that if everyone gave even the smallest amount through patreon, we’d be building our own public library for sewing, the Karina Franklin branch. We know what it takes to make one thing and can’t imagine, even though I try, how much work goes into what she provides. Her name pops up all over the place in comment sections with start with “Karina on lifting pins and needles shows how to do ….fill in the blank…” which is great, but is she being compensated? I’m a huge proponent for female success stories, especially when it’s not funding things like everyone needs butt implants this year, promoting their own line of cosmetics, doing weird things to our bodies, many of which end up making girls feel not good enough while enriching already insanely wealthy people become more so. Karina is helping everyone gain skills , even when she loses money on the content. I appreciate her making these step-by-step money losers since it’s what a lot of us want/need. I’m sure there are many, many people with more skills than I and that people watch sewing blogs for as many reasons as there are viewers. I know I do anyway. I look at THIS channel as an invaluable resource, one where she puts our needs above her own. I mean really, who would even consider making 3 trench coats in a row (while living in a place where winter lows are in the 80’s or something like that) so we can find and make one ourselves if we wanted?? Insane!! I love Alexsis’ style on the show “My Life is Murder”. She’s all about beautiful, colorful, flowing trenches that trail behind her as she power walks around New Zealand solving the unsolvable. Pure lust in my heart for those baby’s. ❤❤
