🎚️⚡ Add (FREE) Audio Visualizer to Your Stream // OBS Studio Tutorial

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Part 1 of a 3-part vid series about adding audio visualizer spectrum to your OBS Studio stream and making the most of them. Audio visualizers look amazing on your Twitch, KZread Gaming or Facebook Gaming stream!
In this video I show you how to add the Spectralizer OBS Studio plugin, and how to configure and customise the plugin to suit your own tastes and preferences. Note that this plugin will not work on Streamlabs OBS (but I'll be doing a separate video on SLOBS which I'll link below when it's complete!). It will also not work with other broadcasting software like Xsplit or Stream Elements / OBS.live.
Audio visualizer spectrums are awesome tools for creating a visually stimulating part of your stream and show the audio frequency paths of your chosen audio. You can create circular, bar/bin, or wave-form spectrums with this OBS plugin.
You can add audio visualizers like Spectralizer to your OBS Studio stream to show your microphone audio, say for example on a podcast situation or instances of commentary as a visual stimulation. You can also add audio visualizers for your music, or even your game audio depending on how you have your audio lines split / managed.
In many cases, most people will be adding the Spectralizer AV for the desktop audio, and this will (providing you have your mic audio on a separately input) split out the audio of the desktop from the microphone audio for the audio visualizer!
Hopefully you find this video useful, but if you did.. please check out the other two videos from the series listed below in the related videos section as that's when things really get spicey!

    Question: Do you need voicemeter in order for this to work? Or is OBS and the audio visualizer all you need?

  • @MachineDaena

    @MachineDaena

    You don’t need voicemeter. It’s OBS only, and it uses native sources that are available to OBS to pull and visualise the audio.

    Thanks dude! Appreciate the positivity. This video (same but for StreamLabs) has a tool that has all sorts of different visualisations, some of which are full screen. It’s not just for StreamLabs but it’s an alternative method because the plug-in I covered for this video is OBS whereas the video link below is more generic and has more options. However I’ve not tested it for a few years but hopefully it’s still working and available! 🎚️⚡Add a (FREE) Audio Spectrum Visualizer to SLOBS // Guide & Tutorial kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6qNpbJ9gLDZfqg.html

    Sadly when I add it to OBS the spectralizer freezes at the peaks instead of resetting to 0 when there's no sound from my mic. Not sure how to fix that or where I would even look for information on how to fix it.

  • @MachineDaena

    @MachineDaena

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’m not 100% if this would work, but if you’re using OBS (rather than StreamLabs) you might be able to have a scene with both your Mic and Desktop audio added as *sources* (not on the audio mix in the default audio settings, which is different!!) and then use something like Source Mirror on the StreamFX plug-in to mirror that source, it’s possible that new source will have just one audio output but I’m really not sure it’ll work! Another perfectly valid option and one I know would work, is using something like a GoXLR because it creates new audio sources in Windows for chat, system, etc one of them is called “Broadcast Stream Mix” and you can use the “Routing” table / matrix within GoXLR app to literally define which audio comes through which channel (including the Broadcast Stream Mix channel!). So you can customise exactly which audio comes through which channel, then simply use that audio channel within your Spectralizer! However, I’m not sure if you’d need to actually physically have a GoXLR or not for this! Let us know how you get on! Best of luck :)

    @@pandafexx I think that you can at least Window Capture on Mac, which means that if you have a window open with the sound effects, e.g. literally ANY desktop (Mac) based audio visualizer, you can just play it and run it in the background, the window capture that window.... I'm sure there must be a mac audio visualizer out there?! Maybe try some of these wethegeek.com/best-music-visualizer/ :)

    @@MachineDaena yes. Right click any visualizer you want and "open in window" from application then once preview window is open add that as a source. Make sure the source is maximized to cover your aspect ratio fully each time or white lines appear on the border. If white border still persists enlarge layer to extend slightly outside the canvas. Opening the preview window of a wallpaper is crucial to adding it as a layer. So make sure any wallpaper is in preview window. Add that as a "window capture" anytime you open a preview it automatically captures it. Once you have the layer added. You must set the wallpaper engine transparency opacity in "color correction" or "color key" to around 50% to 65% depending on your liking. After this is done add "color key" to your video capture layers. Turn off wallpaper engine layer, take a snip or screenshot of original color then try to match it as best as you can. It will always be slightly darker on your slates. I advise leaving your live screen full screen canvas and not using this on the live screen scene. Hope this helps. I also advise limiting wallpaper engine in settings to 25fps to save a lot of cpu usage in wallpaper application. If its sluggish run 30fps. If you have beefy system run all the way to 60fps. Do no more than 60fps. Make sure post processing is disabled or you will eat up memory, if you use wallpaper engine as a background make sure you have it set to pause when any application is full screen. It will not pause your preview. Also make sure to never minimize the preview or it will pause.

    If you don't like end results flip flop wallpaper engine and your animated or still scenes for starting, brb, ending, etc. Also make sure if you use it on any live scene or intermission to make sure all video captures such as game, desktop, and cams are on top of your other layers. It has a slightly different outcome that is the way I do it I've been using it for about a year. There are compromises but it looks beautiful. I get comments all the time. If you want to stop by my twitch is AfterglowFlux if you have any other questions when I'm live.

    Also another note if you make any changes to the settings of a wallpaper you must reopen a new preview window (it will not duplicate only replace current preview) to apply any changes application wise or wallpaper specific. To customize the wallpaper easier apply it to a second screen desktop to get real time changes then preview the new settings you prefer.
