Add a cuff to a sleeve: Paganoonoo Sewing Tip. With Michelle Paganini courtesy of It's Sew Easy
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Men's dress shirts make great upcycle candidates but the sleeves are generally too long for ladies. One simple upcycling solution is to turn the sleeve into a 3/4 length with a contrast cuff.
Michelle specializes in designing upcycled clothing and writing upcycling sewing instructions for home sewers. A complete set of instructions for this and other designs are for sale @ www.etsy.com/shop/paganoonoo. See her website for more www.paganoonoo.com

Upcycle means add value to an existing object (like clothing) through the use of material, creativity, and/or labor.

Mags Nash I love the green blue combo.
Very good work 👍🌹
my mother was a tailor therefore I never learnt to sew like her (she,we got too frustrated with each other) but she was a genius - self taught then did a diploma for credentials - could turn a sow's ear into a silk gown - I miss her thank you for your beautiful work and I love the upcycling x

I love to wear oversized mens shirts because I have extra long arms but find them not quite nice enough to wear outside the home, but by adding a cuff and other random ideas, thanks, never occurred to e to do this! And I am a hard core seamstress and quilter. Thank you.

Hi Renee, how's your day going with you?
Super excited to try this. I love buttoned shirts, but I am short and always have to roll my cuffs. Imagine my glee to now have a viable and feminine solution. I’m going to try men’s shirts too!

Cheryl Wyatt excellent! You will love the results.
I found a great overcoat for my son at a thrift store. The previous owner had shortened the sleeves by tacking them up; I thought they just had short arms. Turns out they had ironed a hole into the sleeve cuff about two inches up on one arm. He needs that length so I can’t just re tack it back up. I would really like to be able to make it wearable for him and found some fabric that is close to the lining. The coat is all cotton duck type fabric except for the lining. This video is helping me wrap my mind around how to make this happen! Any other tips that you could give would be awesome! Have you ever done something like that?
Thank you .i am adding cuffs to a sweatshirt making it into a jacket

Ingenious!!!... but my question is what to do with the button holes being on the wrong side? 🤔

I move the buttons to fit if they do not match an added placket. If they match I leave as is.
Am altering a long sleeve to 3/4 and found your video. Great idea! Was wondering if the finished cuff width on your shirt that you are wearing was 2 and 1/2 inches? Trying to get a feel for the right width for proportion. Thank you.

Hola como me gustaría poderla entender me gusta mucho lo que hace pero no la entiendo que pena
👍👍👍👍👍👍💟
do you taper the sleeves to slim them a bit before making the cuff?
@michellepaganoonoopaganini4818
7 ай бұрын
No I don’t 😊
I’ve also designed upcycle sewing instructions for garments: Www.etsy.com/shop/paganoonoo. Green flannel - Sandy / Orange dress - Michelle / Purple stripe - Patti / Shirt I am working on - Cindy / Wearing - Cindy.
Would it be better to cut the cuff on the bias for more movement when attaching to the sleeve
@michellepaganoonoopaganini4818
4 жыл бұрын
I probably would not. It is likely to stretch too much if cut on the bias.
@michellepaganoonoopaganini4818
7 ай бұрын
I don’t think so, would be prone to stretching unevenly
If you would like to upcycle some of these garments yourself go to www.etsy.com/shop/Paganoonoo. I have on the “Cindy", the green plaid is the "Sandy", the white and orange is the "Michelle", the purple is the "Patti", and the one I am working on is another "Cindy". These are deconstruction and reconstruction steps with illustrations, no need to print and pin.
