Love mine, got it paired with an adcom GFP 555 pre amp and it’s powering my Cerwin Vega re30 speakers. Just bought another set of Cerwin Vega speakers, the Mx250 model that was sold exclusively to military members through the 80’s I believe. I can’t wait to have it all hooked up and shake my house down haha.

I have two of these and I love them. I've never seen the a red toggle switch on the front of one of them. Mine are still working well. I do crank them, I have them on two different stereo systems. One of these amps I run very hard. I lifted the cover off of it to keep it cool. These amps get really hot when you crank them.

These amps are tanks. I never turn these amps off. Keep the caps charged. If you want the best out of these amps, don't turn them off or at least turn them on a couple of hours before you use them.

Do they use a lot of power if they are on but not playing music through them ?

@@MEANSTREETAUTO454 Honestly, I don't know. I do turn the preamp off. I think they really use a lot of power when you crank them up, because they can get pretty hot. And that's energy.

@@MEANSTREETAUTO454 Google, should I leave my power amp on all the time. This is one comment and may times, do leave my preamps on as well, I just turn them all the way down. Here's one comment. But a purely electronic piece like a power amp or preamp are better left powered on at all times - with but few exceptions. So, keep the lights on with your equipment - it helps everything live longer and sound better.

Try them both and make your own conclusions .Some amps will pair better with certain speakers.

Only bad thing about these amps are if they go out they'll take the speakers with em.😳
