Cookers are not meant to be used directly for boiling. It should be used as double boiler, for efficient performance. That's the reason why we are given a plate which is used as stand for the vessel, after pouring water in the cooker. Then you will never have leakage, if you place the weight/whistle after you observe steam from the covered cooker.

Hi ma'am it's true, but now a days many pressure cooker they won't provide plate. Many years ago they used to provide

@@hariandmetalks Unless the cooker is made of steel it is dangerous to cook food directly in the cooker. Just voiced due to concern over health hazards and mishaps like cooker bursts and similar accidents.
