Adapt is a game developed be Paul Hervé and published by Slug Disco.
"To survive, you must guide your species through a constantly changing world. Compete with strange creatures for food and territory, and find your niche through careful evolutionary choices. The real question is not if you can survive, but for how long.
Adapt is a survival evolution game designed to simulate the constantly changing environments which life must navigate to thrive. To succeed, your species will need to find food using a multitude of dietary strategies, seek out habitable environments, and react to changing seasons, and global climate. Your competitors will evolve alongside you, vying for food and territory to ensure their own survival."

The entire spore genre is always so cool! But for this game to really attempt to live up to being able to hold the title “sporelike” it’s got quite some improving to do

Have you played anything else in the "sporelike" genre? There were a few points where the controls simply weren't responding and I didn't know what the game was doing, but I'll give it some slack for being a demo. I'm curious what later stages of the game look like, if they even exist.

Later stages shifted into simplistic strategy games in tribal and city sage at least. In space whitch is probably the longest and most complex (simplistic compared to other strategy space games like stellaris) you control a ship while managing your planets. If I was to recreate spore today what I would want to do is have 5 groups make 5 separate games and fuse them together as the first one was good and was really fun but in each individual stage their is better games (I guess not creature stage (what this game is trying to do) or cell stage) Games I think fit the stages if someone wanted to recreate spore could be Thrive (it's in beta but I think it definitely can get to a good cell stage) I don't really know of any great examples for a creature stage Farcry primal or some town manager for tribal stage (farcry primal doesn't fit the way spore did tribal but I think it would be cooler this way) Civilization or a similar game for city stage And I think something like stellaris works for space stage

I ended up loading up the demo while I was listening and it's neat, I'd like to see more in the demo before they release it, but it is a nice concept.

I did, eventually. :) The UI's font and symbols were pretty small, but I muddled through. I do a lot of trial and error, when it comes to play a demo. Even had my herbivore try some meat to see what would happen.

A lot of people have fond memories of Spore. If they can capture that feeling and even improve on it, this game could be successful.

The framerate on this game is horrendous. I constantly got huge framerate spikes (drops? I went from good to bad framerate especially in the water) and it made the demo entirely unplayable.

I didn't have a great framerate, but I figured that was my potato of a PC. I didn't even try to go in the water. Would you mind if I shared this feedback with the devs?
