A few weeks later and they're still pretty solid. Just gotta adjust - like with any other speaker. I've also since engaged the bass-boost feature since I felt they were a bit lacking in that area and so far mixes have been translating beautifully.

I bought the T7V when they first came out. Packed them up and sent back on day one. The first thing I heard was the scooped mids.

Thanks for this honest review. I've been agonizing on which studio monitor I'll get as I am currently using a KRK Rokit 5 G4 and thinking of having another reference monitor.

You're very welcome!!! If budget permits, then do it! I've switched up my set-up quite a bit recently but I'm still using these ADAMS, with a set of Yamaha HS5's and a Yamaha sub. I have all 3 (7s, 5s and sub) connected to a monitor controller that allows me to switch between each or play them all at the same time. This has offered MANY reference points, and of course much more control. It costs a bit more but as a mixer, I've found this to be very valuable at spotting and solving mix issues in different situations. Best of luck!

No, I'm listening thru Kali's LP-6 V1, with floor noise mitigated,....another good option on a budget. V2 has better extension and quieter amp.

I was looking at buying these because of price point but man.... the vol "click" would def help to let me know that BOTH monitors are equally the same volume

Yeah it’s probably my one gripe with these monitors. BUT honestly, after spending 6 months with ‘em, I really like them for the price point. It’s not too difficult to match volumes anyway, but it is one of those little things that can make a difference for those who like to be 100% accurate

If you didn't own a pair and starting from scratch.. would you go Adam T7V, T8V, or Yammy HS8 ? Did they improve with breakin over time especially the bass and sub bass response?

I would say the sound certainly improved now that they’re broken in. The truth is, both the Yamaha and the ADAM are not necessarily known for their bass but rather their more “flat” tone. also worth noting the Yamaha is a bigger woofer so we’re not really comparing apples to apples here. If it was me, I’d probably lean towards the Yamaha especially if you don’t have a sub. If you want to still get a great set of monitors for a lower price and you have a sub, then the Adam is the way to go. I’m still very happy with my purchase, as I was contemplating exactly what you proposed before buying and ended up getting these instead. Hope this helps.

Z Review on KZread, did a comparison between the T5V, T7V, and the T8V. He found for a small room the T5V impressed him the most as the size of the ribbon tweeter and the speaker size had the best balance in sound. He thought the T7V was a more flatter sound, and thought the T5V with the T10S sub, and T7V were good for studio use. The T8V was more a room speaker rather than a nearfield monitor. Adam prefers you match a sub with the nearfield monitors, as together, the balance of bass goes to the sub that goes to 28Hz, and the split point was around 84Hz, and balances the monitor sub performance, which work best above 42-45Hz. You can't hear the bass below without the sub. I personally got a great deal at Long and McQuade for Adam A7X, and matched them with the A Series Sub 8, both reboxed speakers. I was originally looking at the T5V and the T10S sub, but after listening to the A7X, I went with the A7X over the T5Vs. It works best in my small room, and the sub 8 goes to 28Hz-150Hz, and the A7X goes to 42Hz-50kHz. I use them for a Kawai VPC1 piano controller, and play the Ravenscroft 275 piano software. I get the full frequency range that the piano can produce, in a acoustically treated room. You won't go wrong with the T5V and T10S sub as a set, if the A7X wouldn't have been at the sale price, I would have bought the T5V. I broke in the speakers for 36 hours with pink and brown noise, and then played various genre of music for another week, besides playing the piano through them.

i am listening to this on some old Alesis M1s and it sounds great. Which means my M1s are still holding up..LOL

What do you think will be better?: 1) A couple of Adam T7V 2) A couple of Adam T5V + subwoofer Adam T10S Thank you for the review.

I don't see why not. I can't say for sure if they'd be the BEST option, but a big, nice set of speakesr is always good for listening to music (I just happen to do it for a living haha!)

Buy sub t10s for them and than you can for sure.

Truthfully havent used the HS7s but I HAVE used the HS8s extensively. It’s not really a fair comparison since the 8s do have a bigger cone, but I would lean towards them as I found them to be the closest thing to the most neutral speakers on the market. These ADAMs are killer though- end of the day, you just gotta know what you’re using and how to get the most out of it. Good luck! 🤙🏼

Untreated room? Did you burn them in before judging them?

There is SOME treatment in the room, primarily bass traps in the corners behind the speakers and furniture (both not really pictured). I've been mixing in this room for 5 years so I know what it sounds like and how it translates, regardless of treatment anyway. As for breaking them in - I mentioned several times throughout the video that this is a first listen and that they haven't been broken in yet. That being said, they're definitely broken in now and they still sound phenomenal for the price. Mixes are translating beautifully and I'm still 100% satisfied with the purchase, no sponsorship required.

@@5piece I just ordered a pair and have been looking at them for sometime. Mostly I see positive reviews and any negatives seem to be from people who aren't using them for their actual purpose but only for music listening. I will be tracking guitar through the Helix modelling platform and mixing stuff with them. Im sure they will be great for that. Cheers.

I discuss this extensively throughout the video if you watched it. ADAMs are more subdued than my comparison point of Rokit 8s (they are smaller after all). I personally think Rokit monitors are bloated and have over-emphasized lows, while the ADAMs are the opposite. I use my ADAMs with the bass boost enabled, but I also use a subwoofer at times with them to make up for this. Overall I find that the ADAMs are great, and more importantly my mixes translate well outside of them. Best of luck.

I'm listening to this vid on my android phone. My phone speaker sounds really good. Those Adam speakers dont sound much different than the Yamaha 8 's and other studio monitors I've heard through my phone and connected to my 80 watt amp and car stereo speakers. Just sayin.....

listening on ax7 and I am hearing that your overall volume is too high are your using a limiter on master?

Yes there is a limiter on my master- plus KZread normalizes audio for video uploads so I’m not sure how you’ve come to this conclusion. The first beat I listened to does have some funky mastering that is somewhat clipping at times so I’m curious if that’s what you’re focusing on while the other beats and songs have been mastered properly. Overall you’re hearing my DAW output normalized to KZread’s loudness standards- and not what’s on my speakers so you really have no idea how loud I’m listening to the music - that makes me wonder exactly how do you figure my volume is too high? Would love to know

Those AX7'S,...JUST YEAH.

This style of music presents no real frequency challenge to a monitor, excepting the bass. An auto-tuned vocal over a beat.

Nice hearing your thoughts but the music was 100% dubbed onto the video and not heard from the mic. Tracks very nice though and good to hear your music as intended, I'll take your word on how they sound.

You are correct, I didn’t record the speaker into the mic because that just seemed silly. You wouldn’t be able to gauge as a viewer how things sound in real life (that goes for any video on monitors). When buying any monitors, you need to listen to them in real life to have the best assessment. That’s how I make most purchase choices here - go to the local music shop, test em out with material I’m very familiar with and then make a decision to buy or not. Recording the output and hearing it on a KZread video with normalization etc is not even close to the same. The whole purpose of the video here was to listen to some music I’m familiar with and give you my live, raw and unfiltered impressions. My apologies if the video was misleading in that regard.

I appreciate your concern here as it seems like you’re just trying to lookout for me, but it’s interesting that you’re concerned about how I’m labelling MY OWN production as ignorant. Am I not therefore labelling MYSELF as a creator of ignorant music in doing so? And if I create ignorant music, wouldn’t I identify as PERSONALLY being ignorant at times? Wouldn’t that imply that I ENJOY being ignorant and making that style of music at times as well? Why would you or anyone be offended by that label I’ve given myself? What’s wrong with this if I am part of the community that makes said music? To be 100% clear: I didn’t assign the word “ignorant” to any type of person in some sort of discriminatory or disrespectful way. If I did, I guess I’d also be discriminating against myself? I’m really using it to describe a niche form of music that exists, which in the past communicated an idea that fans of the genre generally understand. That means, if I have to really spell it out: I’m not saying trap as a whole is ignorant, but there is certainly music within trap (and other genres) that have ignorant elements and themes. That’s actually what makes it great (at least to me). By “ignorant” - I’m talking self-absorbed, grandiose, and basically lacking self-awareness as a whole. You know, have a party with 1,000 people and destroy the neighbourhood but not give a damn about it type of ignorant. Or Rev your engine to show off your car without caring about the reprucssions (noise, pollution, etc) ignorant. By definition, it almost means the artist has no regard for anyone but themselves. Selfish, frivolous and braggadocious music. In fact, I encourage you to Google “ignorant songs” and you’ll see it’s a common term of phrase that people use to describe songs within the rap and trap genres in particular, and seek it out specifically (again myself included). It’s defined in Urban Dictionary and has countless playlists on streaming platforms under the same heading. Do you go on those platforms to protest the use of the word “ignorant” too? Ignorant music extends outside of trap too - there is no shortage of ignorant music. It’s an idea/form of expression more than anything. Rap and Trap just seems to have a lot of it, but of course there’s plenty of NON ignorant music within those genres as well. If I was saying all of that music was ignorant (which I’m not), there would be no point in even distinguishing it as ignorant. That’d be like saying well done steak is cooked…no kidding! You could also find examples of ignorant music stemming into other genres such as country, rock and so on. It isn’t exclusive to one style. Regardless, I’ll take what you’re saying into consideration as it’s an interesting complaint that I’ve never encountered until now. Hopefully what I’m saying adds some context to the dialogue here.
