Adam T. - AA Speaker - Hilarious Recovery Share! NEW 2013

Get ready for an AWESOME message delivered in an entertaining way! I love how Adam relates his story and his journey to recovery. This tape is full of laughs, but carries a strong message of hope and inspiration for us all! Sit back, relax, and enjoy! :)
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."
What is the Twelve Step Model? How is it a "treatment for alcoholism" or "alcohol abuse?"
From Wikipedia: "A twelve-step program is a set of guiding principles (accepted by members as 'spiritual principles,' based on the approved literature) outlining a course of action for recovery from addiction, compulsion, or other behavioral problems. Originally proposed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as a method of recovery from alcoholism, the Twelve Steps were first published in the book Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism in 1939. The method was then adapted and became the foundation of other twelve-step programs. Twelve-step methods have been adopted to address a wide range of substance-abuse and dependency problems."
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site (And as should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other 12 step program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.)
"Addiction treatment" WORKS! There is addiction help out there and "addiction recovery" is possible. If you are battling "alcohol addiction" there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her "alcohol abuse treatment." "Substance abuse" is a very serious condition. Many need inpatient stays or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with substance abuse issues. Help IS out there! :)
From the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: "Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny."

He’s stringing together one cliché after another after another. Sure I’ve chuckled a couple of times. I’d rather hear him share, from an intimate perspective, what he was like, what happened and what he’s like now. But that’s me. That’s what’s worked for me since 08.09.86. I’ve got 37 years.

I have a little over 5 years sober. At about 3 years, I was not attending meetings, didn’t have a sponsor, and had a conscious separation from God. I ended up listening to this and it completely changed my life. The way Adam compares alcohol to god and the spiritual technology this program of action does for a person completely changed my perception. This share lit a fire in me and I still come back to listen to it to get spiritually fed. It’s funny how when I listen to this I laugh at the bad things (what many of us did in our disease) and cry at the good things (the spiritual awakening he talks about). Beautiful share. Thank you Adam T for carrying a profound message.

I had an overwhelming amount of support from people on here and I would just like to say thank you. I have had days where I had not thought about drinking. If your reading this thank you. 22:53 CBT! I once had a book thrown at me, whole I was hungover, called "When AA Doesn't Work For You" and it was a cognitive behavioral therapy book for alcoholics. I really liked it. Used it and went to AA. CBT is great, but for me it wasn't everything I needed. But it is a great component. I'm glad this speaker brings it up.

I'm a chronic relapse. It's so hard to do it alone. Impossible for me. I needed fellowship. I needed to tell somebody all of my ugly truth ( dont wait 14 years to do this). 21 years into sobriety, I still have days, but nothing, absolutely nothing is worth a another drunk or losing my liberation.

man...I have just finally admitted to myself that i am a drunk. And I have decided to go to AA tomorrow and get help. I have no friends, my boyfriend finally dumped me over my problem, I have been threw multiple jobs already this year because I was to hung over to go, what a nightmare I have made of my life! 8(....I decided to listen to some AA speeches tonight to keep myself from talking myself out of " not having a problem until I can go to an AA meeting tommarow. To anyone reading this..please send positive thoughts my way here in Boise, idaho. this guy speaking on this video is amazing! Im really hopeful I am going to get a grip on this.

A few life events pushed me back into what I needed, 😉 all along. 4.5 months sober and clean so far this time, hopefully to last by keeping God at the top, building my Allies around me, lest I fall, someone can help me up, attending church and meetings, these online open talks have filled my day here at work, love them. Thank you much for keeping them up. I’ve been in and outta recovery 15 years or so, and this time I not only needa stay, but wanna stay as much as I have to!

Dui's I look back now and am so thankful that I never hurt or killed someone when I was drunk. Its nothing to be proud of but I had 15 dui's. mine were all in the 60's and 70's. I'm not positive about 15 but positive about 12 as I got out of some of them plus not even counting about 7 times or so they let me go. In 1967 I got my first the last was about 1974. Good lawyers kept me out of jail but it took my whole paycheck for 2 years. If this happen in now times I would be in prison for 20 years. In Aug of 1985 I quit drinking. I'm now 76 and don't expect to ever drink again. Please Dallas don't drink anymore.
