Adam Siao, a figure skater hailing from France, made headlines at the 2024 ISU World Figure Skating Championships with his daring and controversial performance. I was there. The whole arena was cheering for him to do his best skate ever. Everything they showed that he was still the top scorer the whole place erupted. This was my most favorite moment watching figure skating live. I was worried that his backflip deduction would cost him but in the end it did not matter. The audience loved it.

I was there too. It was so electrifying. Clap after clap after clap, the non stop clap after the backflip until the end of the program.. and the standing ovation..whole arena was spell binded. That was magical.
Beauty, art and perfetion on the ice! This is what I love to see and feel when I watch figure skating. I know that Ilia Malinin is the "quad guy" but this performance from Adam Sioa Him Fa was unique!

Think he didn't even thinking of medaling when he was at the rink. Just skate his best like what Nathan did in Olympic 2018. He needs to be consistent and mentally ready. Then he will be at his best🎉🎉
This is one of the most epic figure skating performances ever. Oozing passion and fire. I'm obsessed!
Probably the craziest comeback I've ever seen. When he came out I was hoping he'd just go balls to the wall because he had nothing to lose, and he did that and more. I don't think I've ever cheered so hard at my TV 😅

Would've never been possible under the old skating system. Nathan Chen came close though in the 2018 Olympics with his vault from 15th to 5th. This performance (even with the illegal back flip!) was outstanding by Adam and very well deserved Bronze!
We almost missed him! He was in first Warmup…. historical skate, rock solid every single quad jump landing, speed, and flow. And artistic interpretation! Phenomenal! And the wtf back flip at end of program!!!

Absolutely fabulous! He was beauty on ice. Music like he skated to shows off perfection.
I remember after short program my nation commentator said stuff like "unfortunately Adam wont compete for medals this year". Im actually kinda new to figure skating but I was at the edge of my seat whole performance and my passion for this sport really grew larger after this phenomenal.
Surya Bonaly was the backflip queen from France. Adam also represents France! It honestly fit right into his program and I'm glad he didn't get penalized too harshly. I love that he had the skate of his life and made the podium!!!

@skatingcanuck9837 Like did didn't really need to show all of the top six after the short it wasn't live. They could have not shown either the Italian or Swiss skater. They should show more skating anyway. I bet their was more commercials than actual skating in the telecast.

Unfortunately, NBC in the US did NOT show Adam's performance on tv. Instead, they showed a recap of the top 4 ladies skate. Could've done without seeing Loena blow it for the second time. Would've preferred to see this fantastic skate by Adam instead. So I had to come to KZread and watch it. Someone messed up at NBC tv...

It was FANTASTIC and he sat in first place till the end

I'd love to hear the choreographer explain the story this routine is telling. The beginning is pretty clear, but the despair in the middle and the ending are not. Thanks for posting this video so that the music and overall artistic experience are not obliterated by the commentary.

He knew he was out of medal contention so he decided to just have fun and perform an exhibition. He got a deduction for that back flip but it didn’t matter to him.

He didn't think he had anything to lose. And he made the right call. Medaling despite ending the short in 19th 30 points behind AND getting a deduction for an illegal move is legendary. He made this HIS event and it'll be remembered
Adam will be good at short program next time because now he knows how hard it is to sit like that ^^

禁止技と言っても即退場ではなく減点というもの。パフォーマンスが減点だったとしても本人が楽しんでることや観客を楽しませてくれたことのほうが大きくプラスになったと思います。 ただし、もし失敗して怪我でもしていたらこの禁止技が減点ではなく即退場になるといったルール変更になる可能性はありますね。

NBC only shows the last 2 groups. Peacock has the Erou Sport feed that shows all four groups. This took place earlier in the night

@@ISUskatingfan not really. we pay for public television in Europe and they spent all their money for Football (Soccer). Compared to 20 or more years ago, barely anyone watches Figure Skating over here. Really sad development

okay just did some research, backflips are still illegal so he got a two point deduction. he probably wouldn’t have done it if he didn’t land all his jumps.

昔、スルヤボナリ―選手がバックフリップやって失格になったのでは⁉️ 後に滑る選手にとってもリンクに深い穴をえぐる危険な技だから、即失格にするべきだ‼️

@stelladion True. Just a point deduction, and he had no respect for the rules. The rule is not only for his safety but also for the safety of the skaters who follow. Back flips can dig big holes in the ice.
