ADAM ROGERS on RECORDING the GUITAR - Practically and Impractically

When I first moved to NYC in the late 1990s, I was amazed (and a little intimidated) by the city's array of tremendous guitar players. One who particularly stood out, for me, was Adam Rogers - who I first heard as a member of Lost Tribe ( • Lost Tribe - Rhinocero... ). He has got blazing technique, yet every note is nuanced. His musical ideas are cerebral and soulful, all at once.
I ran into Rogers recently and we started talking about recording at home - something so many of us are doing these days. Rogers' approach is different from that of many guitarists, largely because he has incorporated an obscure vintage reel-to-reel machine into his home studio. I asked him to join me for a Zoom chat so I could learn more about what he's up to. Here's our conversation.
Note: This interview was recorded in 2021 for my 'Guitar Tips Pro' channel on Patreon. I'm sharing it here now because it was an illuminating conversation. I think lots of folks will appreciate what Rogers has to say.
