I started watching WWE/WWF back around 2000 as a total casual (I had no idea what I was seeing back then, though I was about 16), but it wasn't until Raw in January of 2002 that I became a "fan". And I credit that to the Undertaker - the American Badass - versus Jeff Hardy in a ladder match for the Undisputed Championship. As a skinny and small kid, seeing those two chair shots by Hardy (if you've seen the match you know both of which I'm talking about, one is still one of the sickest I've EVER seen) and watching the skinny tag team specialist climb the ladder gave me hope as a small kid. I was on the edge of my seat when I heard JR crying out "Climb the ladder kid! Make yourself famous!" It still gives me a chill to this day.

It's crazy when you realize how short Austin's run on top of the entire wrestling world was but also how much of an impact it made on the entire industry. Definitely did more for the industry that ANYONE else

Does anyone else think the Cage should *ALWAYS* be chained shut. It's impossible to suspend disbelief that you can't just push your opponent to the floor, then bolt out the door.

Nothing will beat the 3 Stages Of Hell match from No Way Out 2001 for me. 2 guys at the peak of their careers, smart stipulations that fit their characters (Street fight for Austin, straight wrestling match for HHH, cage to contain them both on the 3rd fall), and great spots all throughout. Foley chants when Barbie was pulled out by Austin, this match had it all. Las Vegas truly hit the jackpot that night!

Having been there to witness it in person, I've never been part of a crowd like NXT Takeover Brooklyn, Sasha vs Bayley. It's now forever etched in my mind as one of my top 10 matches.

It's funny, looking at the 2001 royal rumble having 5 or so people who could win was huge. This year we have Undertaker, Brock, Goldberg, Strowman, Cena, Reigns, Joe, Nakamura, Miz, Angle, My grandma, and the Chicago cubs as believable winners.

i was thirteen when angle vs lesnar on smackdown happened, i watched it live, and will never forget it. It has always been my favorite match ever, and until now i always thought i was the only one.

My favorite WWE match is The End Of An Era Hell In A Cell at Wrestlemania 28. I'm not even a fan of the three main players in that match, but for some reason, that is the match I love to go back and watch. It's so melodramatic and I love it so.

It's always great when they throw the fans a bone with a great TV match. There was a ladder match between Christian and RVD for the title, somewhere in the 2002-2004 range on Raw that was just outstanding.

I 200% agree with your number one pick. I remember the night that Iron Man match took place, or at least the night that it aired. Absolute gold.

My favorite: Brock vs Taker inside hell in a cell I literally thought Taker might bleed to death during the match. Even rewatching it, I wonder how he kept functioning (and apparently passed out afterward). Even while they were pouring blood, they put on a hell of a show - including great physical wrestling.

I agree. Adam is the best at what culture with Simon at a close second.

Anyone else enjoy the survior series match between team austin and team bischoff? The emotion for what was on the line in the match made it really good plus hbk performance

I had to pause the video and replay it 5 times when I heard you say the first full match you ever saw was Cactus V Trip at RR 2000. Holy crap I'm old. My favorite match of all-time would be the '98 KOTR HIAC. My parents wouldn't let me spend 50 bucks to watch it so I had to listen through the scrambled channel (Kids today will never know). When Jim Ross lost his Sh*t I was speechless with my jaw open. I was concerned for Mick thinking a massive mistake happened. Then when I heard "How in the hell is he standing. He has a smile on his face for God's sake" I was so relieved and incredibly inspired. Shawn Micheals was the showstopper, but Mick was the heart stopper.

Really interesting list. Mine would look different, of course, but I really liked the mention of Bray vs Bryan and that amazing Iron Man Match.

Shawn Michaels vs triple h bad blood hell in a cell was one of my favourites

I only have one match I really like, my all time favourite: Melina vs Alicia fox

The WM 21-25 MITB matches might have to be on mine, simply because I could/will watch them over and over forever!

Cactus Jack v Triple H at Royal Rumble 2000 was my first ever live title match. I'll never forget how hot the crowd was there that night at Madison Square Garden!

Some of the free matches were better than main events for sure crowd seem better to!

Nice list Adam! #1 was a bit of a surprise, never been a huge "Bork" guy lol but before all the suplex city stuff, the guy showed he could compete and win through various styles and go toe to toe with the best of them.

Exactly, his first run was so good. And he always seemed to work better with the smaller guys which just shows his athleticism and endurance. Current Lesnar is just a monotone steamroller. Has its fun parts but doesn't compare to his previous run

+Jason Stephens I can't say only 1 great Angle match because I don't remember every single one of them, but I genuinely love him and I know that every match with Angle will be great. But if I had to say 1 I'd say Angle vs the Undertaker (where he blocked the hells gate with pin). I don't remember when it was but it was fantastic.

+Jan Vehmanen Just a concussion as far as I'm aware. It was bloody terrifying, and he nearly did break his freakin' neck, but thankfully, he just gave himself the worst kind of headache for awhile.

Love this list. All these matches were classics. Seen them all & loved them.

The Revival vs DIY at Takeover Toronto is my favourite tag match

Rob H From a wrestling standpoint its not really that good. its simply a hell in a cell that happened to have 2 major spots that were ridiculous. but its not a match you watch for the story or wrestling. you watch it to see Foley get thrashed through the table and cell, then turn to another program after. i could think of many matches that were better. iconic doesnt equal great. see hulk hogan for that.

He really is better than everyone else at what culture

Lesnar vs Angle was the first full match that I saw, made me fall in love with wrestling, never missed a beat since then and still is my favourite match of all time

My favorite is 1998 Hell in a Cell Undertaker vs Mankind. Just the way the Foley kept on going through it all. Through the cell, onto the thumbtacks, off the cell onto the announce table! It was all just amazing especially with Jim Ross giving some of his best commentary.

like Shawn is the best In Ring Performer, is hard to found a abd Michaels Match, there some great NXT Match's that I watch, Cesaro x Zayn in the first NXT Special, Finn x Neville , Owens x Zayn, Zayn x Neville, Nakamura x Zayn, but that 10 matches are my favorite, there a some Cena matches like that 3 match's with Owens

"Everyone remembers their first". My fav match of all time was also the first full match I had ever watched which was HBK vs UNDERTAKER in the first hell in a cell match at Bad Blood In Your House 1997! Classic.

I agree with this list so much. perfect matches added. 👍 Michaels v Taker is my favorite.

Even with the Hogan and Flair admissions, this was an awesome list! Adam's really chosen some real gems in my opinion!

I remember the Philippine Free TV of SmackDown! of Brock vs Kurt Angle Iron Man match Here in our country from 2002-2007, Smackdown was aired for about an hour only (because we cant afford cable) The whole episode was a bummer because it only had one match. Then after fifteen minutes of the fight, I began to dove into the battle, and I never forgot that night as the best night of the WWE Smackdown (aside from Batista being drafted from Raw into Smackdown in 2005)

Adam, you must watch "hbk vs. Shelton benjamin" on raw. I think it's the only one they ever did. Through all the classics this one always sticks out in my head as the greatest match I ever watched.

the iron Man match between angle and Lesnar would have to be one of my top 5 favorites. and I will go watch it right now

HBK vs Undertaker Badd Blood 1997 (1st ever Hell in a Cell) It's too much of a diamond match not to be in the top10

shawn michaels VS Kurt angle Iron match on raw in 2006? was an absolute gem, I'm not sure which year it was but 05 or 06 I believe, I love that match to bits

But what about Jericho v. FanDango WM 29? Kane v. Chavo WM 24? No? Ok

I was at the Smackdown Ironman match(I won't say who I am, but none of our signs in the third damn row were at all legible on TV.) I would pay good money for a full HD video of that match because it. was. PERFECT.

I can never think of a top 10 but the first match that I remember enjoying the most was the Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy ladder match for the Undisputed title back in the early 2000's. That whole feud that they had for a bit reminded me of a better version of the Dean Ambrose vs Lesnar Wrestlemania match. Jeff never giving up, Undertaker giving his respect to a (I think) mostly upper midcarder. I wasn't even mad when Jeff lost, it felt like he still proved something even after losing.

Trish stratus vs. lita for the women's title on a Raw episode. it was the main event for that night, and holy shit it was amazing. I can't remember what year, but they truly shined in that match.
