Adam Ant Discusses "Blueblack Hussar", & His New Band & Album
Ойын-сауық
Post-punk 80s icon Adam Ant talks to Wall Street Journal "Business of Celebrity" show host Lee Hawkins about his decision to go on his first U.S. tour in 17 years and his new band, "Adam Ant and The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse." Ant's "The Blueblack Hussar Tour" will support his new album, called "Adam Ant is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter." Ant talked to Hawkins about how he was influenced early on by Motown stars such as the Temptations, and how he later forged friendships with Motown founder Berry Gordy and Michael Jackson, even performing on the legendary "Motown 25" show. Ant, the former head of the band "Adam & the Ants", concedes in the interview that he has suffered a lifetime battle with mental illness, and explains how he plans to manage his illness in the years to come.

The American media was always so kind and respectful to Adam Ant. It is a shame that the British press was so brutal to him. We still love you Adam! Don't forget us across the pond!
I was never a huge fan of Adam Ant until lately. Read of his fight with bipolar. Came out fighting and a consummate performer despite his years. Respect.
Have adored this man since 1980. Seen him 5 times in recent years, he's still got it! Keep doing what you're doing Adam. Love you x
This interview was fantastic. I've been a huge Adam Ant fan since 1981 and am very excited for Adam's comeback. I can't say enough how amazing this interview was. Great job!
Fantastic to see Adam Ant looking as good as alway's,Adam Ant always will remain number one to ant people everywhere.
Glad to see you healthy, successful, and still a gentleman! Well wishes Stuart!
Saw Adam last night at Turner Hall in Milwaukee. Best concert I've been to in ten years. Set list was AMAZING.
My heart still pounds when I see him :)
Wonderful interview with the beautiful and talented Adam Ant. What a pleasure to listen to him and an even greater pleasure to hear an interviewer ask intelligent and insightful questions.
You can tell he is more relax, like he said he is not worry about competing with others. He just wants to have fun.
Adam looks and sounds so well. Great to see.
I love his perseverance. And his looks help too.have for many years.cheers Stuart. Xo
one of the best interviews Adam spoke and looked very ease ......x
Terrific interview. One of the best Adam Ant interviews I’ve seen.
Adam Ant Looks wonderful and I'm excited for him. I always new he was a trendsetter but I had no idea how influential he was to the fashion and dance styles of Prince and Michael Jackson. I can TOTALLY see that know! Great interview!
Saw Adam in Vegas and he was amazing! Just downloaded his long lost album Persuasion and I can't stop listening to it.
LONG LIVE ANTMUSIC!
He had a rocky road for sure.....good to see him !
Adam still puts on a great show and it's great to see him getting interviewed by the larger media outlets.
This deserves over 9000 more views! loved!
Loved you from the 80's and still do
That was amazing!
What a great interview. Adam Ant is to engaging and smart when he speaks. I still think he is the " ultimate" sexy even though I am a married housewife with two kids!
FANTASTIC INTERVIEW! GLAD ADAM'S BACK! LOVE THE NEW SONG.
Good luck, Adam, to you and your new band, and your other struggles. I always loved you and the Ants.

Saw him last night. Still over the moon!!! Waited 30 years.
This is a great interview.
Saw him in PIttsburgh in 1983 and 2013! Great Show! I'm still reeling from seeing him live again! Love him! Hope he keeps recording new stuff and touring.
Again and again, to see non-stop!
What a beautiful gentleman and so gorgeous 🥰
Mark please produce Adams next album...come on!
Beautiful interview! Thank you ❤
Great interview. ❤🐜
Lee is a very thorough and respected journalist who also read Adam's biography (Lee refers to the book at about the 9:40 mark) and asked a lot of interesting, unique music questions, so if he's using a tablet, it's probably holding his notes, so he can conduct a good interview.
I feel Lee Hawkins did a very good job. He asked pertinant/interesting questions in a respectful way and most of all he didn't inject himself into the interview! He didn't make it about himself and give his opinions and make commentary. Adam was insightful and it's good to see him out and around and making new (good) music again.
We love Adam
Good interview
whoa that video was so epic!!!
Just saw a clip of him and the band performing on a late night TV show in the UK on New Year's Eve. It was so exciting to see him mix the new song with a couple of Ant classics. He looks great, the new song is great and it's exciting to see Adam doing what he does best.
I didnt think this would be as amazing as it is :D
Excellent interview!
Just watched him in Fresno Ca. last night. Great performance.
He is still hot as hell!
damn right you can if you lived through when they were at their best, i was just leaving school in 1981 and never got to see him live, in 2 weeks im gonna make up big time at our local venue and NOSTALGIA all the way.
Patti... he's on the road right now, you haven't missed anything! Go to adam-ant.net, and you will find all of his tour dates, cheers!
Good interview.
Nice interview.
Asking Adam Ant what he would call his music, as the first question, is evidently a person who's interviewing him post-80's because, by now, we should all know what he calls music. I just had to say something....
GREAT WORK!
Agreed. The reporter at least researched about Adam, and asked questions about the new band. Good interview.
Geniales Video! gib uns mehr!
I saw him in 1983. It was probably about the time he started having problems - the show wasn't that great live. But I still admire him and find him to be extremely talented. He had his hands in the videos, customs, set design, etc. A true artist/
Great interview and I just saw Adam's new video for Cool Zombie too. Does anybody know when he'll be touring the USA again?
Just saw him at the Alban Arena and I second your comment.
Really great video!
i remember Adam Ant back in 1982 (Good Too Shoes song)
Good interview , Adam looks great!
I've got a ticket for his tour.. and am quite happy about that. ;-}
Zigger, Zigger, Zigger, Love That interviewer . . . Adam is a Legend
I'm so mad I missed the US tour. I sure hope he comes back sooner than 17 years from now...
-Oh my god! Its really works! NICE WORK!

love u adam
ja was soll ich sagen RESPEKT!
Even if the sky is falling down xD GREAT !!!!!!!!
Stuart, you look amazing still. It's cause you're half Romani
What era are we talking about here - when AA talks about listening to Tamla/Motown in the council estate? I didn't realise that Brits were into that as teens in the 60s. Are we talking about pre-Beatles, pre-Who, KInks and all those 'boy bands with guitars'? 1963? Or was it later 1965?

According to his book this was around 1968 (when Adam was 13/14). He moved out of De Walden Buildings and the new appartement was above a youth club where they played Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Al Green, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, the Four Tops, the Jackson Five, Tammi Terrell,, Diana Ross and the Supremes, ect. He would listen to it while doing his homework.
kings lbum still sounds awesome

This is a serious question in regards to Simon Parkes. He claims to have been visited by Mantis Beings.
i literally want to marry all your vids
cool
i loved the video but i hated the fact that the video ended so soon
I AM SUBSCRIBING
Ahhh put a good mic on your interviewer! Don't just shotgun him! If you put in all the work for 3 cams, lighting and what appears to be a live edit atleast mic your talent! Giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe he had one on but it slipped down his shirt, because the sound gets slightly better when he is reading from his ipad.
Keep sharing!
im so impressed
subbed, subbed, subbed, i can do that all day long xD
Cool guy
