I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today, May 28, 2023, Acts 9:9-17 was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "Saul of Tarsus." The hymn, "Dearest Jesus, at Your Word," is a good hymn to compliment this Scripture.

I am chosen instrument of your throne. You have called me🙌🏿🙏🏿😭❤️.

I never knew or realized that about Paul having around 10 years of unknown life after being converted.

Amén.

In Acts 9, Paul was BLINDED by God, and then AS A RESULT of his going to Ananias's home (a type of Christ) by FAITH in order to be healed, he was saved. Then AS A RESULT of being saved and healed by obedience and faith, he arose and was baptized BY ANANIAS, once again...a type of Christ. In Acts 9, through Ananias, we see the goodness and grace of Jesus on full display. Instead of God's blazing presence striking Saul down for his hard heart and murderous intent toward the church (Numbers 17:13), God saves Saul's life through his faith in what Ananias will do to save him, and as a result of that faith in God's Word, he is completely healed and saved, and THEN he is baptized BY Ananias, a type of Christ. Baptism, therefore, is illustrated in the Bible as something that is administered only AFTER someone who is blind, obeys the gospel by believing that they must put their faith in Christ in order to be given the ability to see. Blindness represents being a sinner, and being healed of that blindness represents salvation. Ananias represents the unassuming, humble carpenter, Jesus Christ, who administers salvation, but who deflects all glory to his father, God for bringing it all together. It then becomes evident that baptism is the outward affirmation of an inward decision to obey the gospel and believe the instruction of God, that we all are blind sinners that must place our faith in Jesus Christ and HIS power to heal them, in order to see the truth and be saved. Acts 9 "And immediately there fell from his eyes, as it had been scales,.... Which were little thin skins or films, like the scales of fishes, which were formed from the defluxions that fell from his brain, through the excessive light that shone around him, and the surprise he was thrown into by it: these, as soon as Ananias put his hands upon him, dropped off; which were an emblem and representation of the scales of ignorance, of himself, of sin, of righteousness, of the law, of the Gospel, and of Jesus as the Messiah; and of unbelief in him, and of pride, malice, and envy, and of superstition and bigotry, and of error and false doctrine, which, upon his being enlightened by the Spirit of God, fell from him: and he received sight forthwith; his corporeal sight, which was an emblem of that spiritual sight he had also received: the word "forthwith", or "immediately", is not in the Vulgate Latin, Syriac, and Arabic versions, but seems necessary; and indeed, if it was not expressed, it would be understood; for as soon as the scales fell from his eyes, he must receive his sight: the Ethiopic version places it after the word "baptized", in the next clause: and arose, and was baptized; that is, after Ananias had appointed it to him, as his duty, had pressed him to it, and called upon him to submit to it without delay, Acts 22:16 And this shows that baptism was performed by immersion; for had it been done in any other way, either by pouring or sprinkling a little water, Saul might have kept his seat, and water might have been brought to him, and so the ordinance might have been performed; but he arose and went, either to a bath that might be in Judas's house, fit for such a purpose; for the Jews had their baths to bathe their whole bodies in on certain occasions; or he went to some certain place of water without doors, convenient for the administration of baptism, where it was administered by Ananias unto him. And this also may suggest to us, that only enlightened persons are the proper objects of this ordinance; such as have the scales of darkness, ignorance, and unbelief removed from them, and have a spiritual sight and sense of divine things: hence the ancients used to call baptism by the name of "illumination", and baptized persons "enlightened" ones." - Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

I don’t see reason for debate nor controversy about when Saul was converted… pretty clear to me when we look at Paul telling his conversion account in Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

Love believes all things😊 the spirit of Jesus Christ, but work through other people to bring the message through Infiltrators we got to be careful
