Actors George MacKay & Dean-Charles Chapman Speak On "1917," The World War I Film From Sam Mendes

Ойын-сауық

At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, "1917" follows the soldiers as they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers, Blake’s own brother among them.

When he said "age before beauty" in the film, I started noticing just how close the two characters were and got very intrigued by their chemistry as friends. It wasn't just him making fun of him or poking at him, it was also the George character saying that he was willing to put down his life for the other guy, no matter how they quarreled. I do not think that was a good way to describe it but I tried and am tired

It was so cleverly done. Not just with the one-take thing but where the camera is at certain times. Just before THAT scene around halfway though for example the camera deliberately is trained on George when he's at that water pump so we literally only see what he sees and realise as he realises, if that makes sense. Sorry, hard to explain.
