Whiskey makes perfect sense.. this is one of the best responds to Fake Monk ive ever seen. Most reactors are impressed but very few can explain how and why. Thank you for that. 3 years down the line, this is still a masterpiece and the talented flower has blossomed. I really hope you will dig deeper into his brave work, cause this is a true artist above and beyond. He was great back in 2018, and even greater today.

This is one of the most captivating performances I have ever seen. He has everybody on the edge of their seats. I have seen this performance countless times and it never gets boring. HuaHua is such a great artist, composer, singer, performer. Please check out some of his own compositions like Madhouse, Bullfighting, Jackdaw Boy, Aliens, Black and White artist, The Mayfly, I don't care and so much more. He will surprise you a lot of times. King of the stage. He becomes the character and conveys the emotion better than many trained actors, and he's playing a piano at the same time! In a way, it is method acting. He explained in a pre-show interview that he prepared for this song by going back to a very hard time in his life, when he pounded away at a piano and sang/screamed wordless sounds to express the darkness he felt. He's so incredible (and the production quality is so good) that we are changed by it-the ultimate goal of a performer-even watching it on video 3 years later. He said he did it to reach out to others who are in similar places and to the people who care about them. Some of his own songs do this, too. I've never seen a braver singer. This is why fans love him. Not just admire his talent, but love him and are protective of him. Thank you for returning. I hope you continue with him. Maybe his own song next, something light, like "I Don't Care."

The courage it takes to do this in a singing competition. Respect!

If you watch him closely, you can literally see him snap out of the performance. His face changes, especially his eyes. One song is very emotional to him, and he has trouble coming out of it. And afterwards, he will tend to isolate himself. And he only does the song once a year.

Hua Hua convey's emotion in the most brilliant ways. He gives that pace of mania leading up and takes it to the top...then it all crashes down into oblivion and get's quite. You can feel it all.

Hua Chenyu _(watchin' you)_ is an amazing performer. The sense of loneliness, anguish and searching for belonging is a common theme in his songs. This comes from his single parent growth environment. An overly strict father, with very little praise, While being left alone for long periods of time made him partly autistic. Since he didn't fit in, he was also ridiculed by friends. ... So he withdrew and escaped into his music... His musical talent is now recognized and he is loved and appreciated.

Fake Monk and Nunchuks are my favorite performances by Hua Chenyu. I'm glad you're starting to react to him.

I consider this performance art rather than simply a song. HuaHua is fearless onstage. He doesn't seem to perform for the audience so much as for the sake of the music, what the music requires. One man in the middle of a mostly darkened stage playing piano with one hand doesn't sound like much going on, but he has the audience and us riveted. By the time he starts screaming, he sounds a bit like a child crying. If you had listened to the pre-stage interview, you would know that he's singing his childhood. It was not a happy one. It was frightening. He was alone a great deal and slept surrounded by toy superhero action figures and holding a toy gun for protection. I always cry listening to him talk about it. This song so terrifies my daughter that she asks me not to listen to it without headphones because it gives her nightmares. She's 39, far from a child. HuaHua never shies away from what terrifies him. He plunges into the heart of it. Give the God Tree a listen.

I was super blessed to be able to see David Bowie and many other great performers. I said this from the beginning, the very first time I witnessed a Hua Chenyu song, he reminds me of the universal talent of Bowie. Hua is in a league by himself though. Really captivating, stunning, and beautiful at the same time. Thank you for your reactions to him. He is a superstar not in the way of pop or silly. He is the real deal. A true artist.

Wait until you get to 7 Personalities. He is another one like Dimash that will have you mesmerized. 7 Personalities is pretty much what is says, he does so many characters until he more or less descends into insanity at the end. Plus, Dad, I'm Home... ugh. He will make you cry like a baby. Just always make sure you turn on subs with Chenyu. He seems to be able to speak English and often says some lyrics in English in some of his performances but rarely does a whole song in English. He did do Creep. In Dad, I'm Home, he make it so so real that when he is finished the crowd is clearly confused because they do not know if they should clap or not clap. He is so real you think it is his personal story only to find out it was not at all. He simply took someone else's song and in a very short period of time revamped it and was so into character that it was painful. I cried so darn hard the first time I watched it thinking it was something he had experienced. He is an absolute musical genius.

7 Personalities is so interesting. Brilliant really. It's a hard watch in the beginning of the child voice but man oh man, so explosive and has a social and cultural message through all of the personalities. Phenomenal really.

You're right he is very talented! He writes all of his own music, too. I first found him on 'I Am a Singer'. I think it was the year after Dimash, 2018.You should watch that series to catch his great talent.

I saw one recommendation for the song Cancer. Even most Martians don't dare to watch and listen to that song often. It is a lyricless song and art performance HuaHua composed and performed to make people aware of how cruel cancer is and how painful this illness is for the people who are suffering from cancer. It is not meant to be comfortable to listen to it. Even so it is impressive to see this performance it also really hurts watching it. It also hurts HuaHua when he performs it because he has to go to a really dark place in his mind to be able to perform it. 🥺

For people that really appreciate how music can interpret artistically a particular feeling in an abstract way, will respect it. It’s not really a song but theatrical performance. Not one to repeat but experience.

Isn't he just incredible!!! Thank you for doing reactions to him. I wish the whole world would see his talent. I have known about him for probably about 2/3 years and not only is he an incredible performer/singer, he is one of the best compsers/song writers of our time. Please could you try bull fighting or arrival..these are two of his songs. He has no fear in his performances, he goes outside the box and I admire him for this. Thank you for a great reaction/analysis to Fake Monk. Hua Chenyu is truly a gifted composer/musician/singer...so versatile and unique. The emotions he displays are raw and genuine. But as you indicated, an incredible performer/storyteller...fierce and brave in his performances. Since this was part of the singing competition, the directors tried to talk him out of doing this performance, afraid that the audience would not understand. But he persisted since he had a message he wanted to tell. In the end, we were mesmerized. I have subscribed, and am looking forward to more Hua Chenyu.

This performance of HuaHua is my personal favorite : he tells a story, sings and acts all in one. It’s true he went for that borderline creepy interpretation of the song and it came out as a piece of art in its purest and rawest form. Ps Id love to see more of your analysis on his works; can you please react to Hua Chenyu’s CHILD, ORDINARY PATH and WAYFARER (all 3 performed on this show) please. You’ll keep be surprised by how versatile he is, he composes his own music, rearranging the covers he has to sing (like in this show) and he plays a lot of instruments.

I fear you will maybe get many " Dad I am home " recommendations under this video. It is a cover HuaHua rearranged in a touching way but the original composer of the song doesn't allow the show The Next to show this performance any longer. That is why there is also no longer a version with Eng Subs available anymore. Which are essentiell to understand the performance and song. But there a a lot other great performances you could react to.

And since you love Nunchuck and Fake Monk not only because of their performance but also the stories told by Hua Chenyu through the songs were captivating, I'd like to make a suggestion by watching Hua Chenyu's performance 'Dad, I'm Home. ' it comes from a difference competition, called The Next. The participants should sing covers and they have to arrange them in 24 hours. The original song of Dad, I'm Home was 100℅ rap. Hua Chenyu rearranged the song into something bigger than amazing and outstanding.

@@cyann410 I know, but the song belongs to Jay Chou, just like Nunchucks, and God knows how many more views HuaHua got with them on all medias than Jay... I guess at one point he really got enough. But HuaHua's own music is so awesome, there's a lot to recommend...

I just found this artist today, and I am totally wrecked and shook. Soul crushing.......wish you can find time to see the interview he did just before this performance in which he talks about his soul murdering childhood which gave birth to this song....the laughs and screams are diabolical....the kind that comes from being soul murdered....this performance makes me involuntarily sob........your Whiskey metaphor was perfect.....he aged thru the song....that was what deep grief does, it ages you quickly....by the end he was a spent old man's voice...

Charlie Zhou Shen is another Chinese artist you should react to. He has an incredible angelic voice which I think you will like. I find this performance harrowing. The numbness and emptiness of his voice at the beginning and end of the piece, and then his pain and total breakdown in the middle is tough for me to watch. I can only listen to it rarely.
