A Minister does not need to have experience, its about working well with those who know Policing. Its about having the right Police Commissioner, the right leaders in provinces. Lamola is a lawyer, but Correctional / Justice Services is up the creek. Motsaledi is Home Office Minister and he had no experience but worked his socks off. Its about Political will to do something about the situation.

I fully agree with your assessment of sizing-down the number of ministers with ONE exception: EDUCATION! I think that you should distinguish between primary and secondary education on the one hand and tertiary education on the other hands. For THESE are two completely different ball games. Reason why in most countries they keep these two apart. For the rest, as I stated, I second you that for a country like SA about 22 ministers WITHOUT deputies should be the maximum!

The UK has one minister of Education and Children Services a combined portfolio (Children Services alone has two aspects social services and youth offending) . The difference is this Minister relies on the professionals in Education and Children services to guide him, as they have the knowledge and the experience, not the other way round where the Politician wants to call the shots even if he is bereft of experience. Which countries have the two Education split.

Good and evil can not unite cos evil will consume good first those evil need to repent that we can unite. DA has never repented instead it want to keep the status qua. How can you unite with the people you oppressed and dehumanised in their land and you don’t repent but wants to pretend as if everything is normal and okay yet you are still having their property.

South Africa will need tough ministers in police and justice. At times our police officers are doing their duties preety well but how do you perform your duties effectively if justice keeps on releasing criminals saying prisons are full?

DA should be given police minister.

One should consider that he didn't have to content with something similar as the SA Constitution, in his Country, with all its Chapter 9 enforcement agencies. Otherwise it would have been him languishing in prison instead of the gangsters.

JP Smith would make good police minister or any position in the national security departments. He is outstanding in the Western Cape on his job and I'm not even a DA voter but I hand the man his flowers when they are due. Mkwanazi would make a great National Police Commissioner, not minister.
