Emilia freezing all the wives was proud of her overall growth. It's a stark contrast to when she accidentally froze her entire village. this showed her strong control over her powers that she shyed away from previously.

For satella's name, it seems to be derived from the word satellite, which could link her to the moon. Additionally, when the author wrote a genderbent version of arc 1, her name became Luna, further supporting the moon connection.

also watch the re zero anime and see how much importance the moon has, its almost always there during important scenes. the stars and moon connection seem to be there, so it makes sense. this makes me wonder if theres a character meant to represent the sun. although the sun is just another star technically i think its easier for us to make this connection because satellite is a common word for us, for a japanese person this connection is more difficult to make. but another point to make is that every witch satella was with is named after some mythology. in fact, they have nothing to do with stars whatsoever. its only characters introduced AFTER the disaster from 400 years ago. and since flugel created the pleiades watchtower, which was created after the disaster. i think we can assume he had some part in naming all the archbishops. he was possibly inspired by satellas name, or even gave her the name to begin with.

We learned The Witch Cult has been divided to two separate factions. While the Radical faction is led by Regulus and Moderate faction was led by Betelguese and unnamed person presumably Flugel. Witch of Vanity is the one leading the cult today since we heard her granting titles to sin archbishops.

By looking at sin archbishops you can't say they have a clear leader. They do petty things on they own, united only because they hated by people. Looks like only Capella has some greater plan.

@@deepdawn1284 Yes she may have some control over archbishops but they are mostly interested in their own things like wives/food/simping Satella/simping Betelgeuse not in Pandora's plans. Only Capella wants something more.

Another LN change that I think is just ridiculous is the fact that Reinhard literally got launched to the moon by Regulus. I know Reinhard is different but that’s one crazy feat to be fine after just jumping back

@@AsarathaHSYTsome are speculating that he saw something major about the world from up there because a Q&A from Tappei said his Arc 5 POV would be a spoiler for the future but I wouldn’t be suprised if it was just included to simply showcase that he is in fact built different

Another thing I like about this change is how it pairs with Regulus’ death. Because the Re:Zero world is flat, as Regulus falls through the earth we have that moment where he wonders what would actually happen if he kept falling. Would be fall forever? These two moments together are like a sudden whiplash of world building on a literal cosmic scale - fitting for combat that is between gods.

@@AsarathaHSYT Unfortunately, the best we have in the main series is when he fought Ram in arc 3 and when he fought Kurgan earlier in arc 5. He does have a great fight in the Kararagi Girl Meets Cats side story though. That and the two side stories that come before it (Anastasia's Rising in Life Memorial Day and Anastasia's Kararagi Merchant Path in that order) are really good. They give a lot more character to Anastasia and Ricardo. They're not too long either. Actually, just between arcs 5 and 6 would be a really good place to read them.

Always fun to see an anime only's first reaction to peak fiction. There are a lot of cool fights that happen in this arc so some juggling back and forth was to be expected, but I'm hopeful that the anime will smooth out the pov shifting issues and make it flow better. Looking forward to the finale of arc 5 as well as future arcs if you do them. I definitely think a live stream for the final chapters is a cool idea too!

It the LN, it was also stated that the POV switches was made better so I that's a good indication because the anime follows the LN

You forgot to mention how in the light novel Reinhard got launched onto moon and jumped back to earth

In terms of paceing ln is a lot better in this phase chapters with Otto, Julius and Garfiel happened in prolog and Subaru fight was only alternately with Priscilla fight. And Kirikata didn't have any involvement with Otto meeting Gluttony

I'm rereading again and I think the connections made between the sins and virtues are understated for their significance. All the sin archbishops have some fixation on both their sin and virtue, Regulus prides himself on being satisfied with what he has but that actually links to his greed with how he demeans others' generosity. Petelgeuse prides himself on his diligence, which manifests in well being Satella's stalker while at the same time he fails to ever grow from the one woman he actually started having a real relationship with so there's a connection with his sloth as well. And Capella reduces everyone else's feelings of love to superficial lust or posing for admiration. At the same time they all seem to despise the idea of love and connecting with others in any form. While they don't have unambiguous expressions of those virtues, it seems like love of all forms is the opposite to what they each believe in for one reason or another. Maybe the reason to sort of unite the sins and virtues is to find a balance with them all instead of rejecting them on a thematic level? But I also still think it's not necessarily going to be a good thing.

I may cause problem as subaru proclaimed to save everyone and then killed 50 people and some rumors could spread around Emilia considering her lineage. Also camps that get more wins will get good lead in royal selection

My crack theory is that the dragon sword of Reid can only be used against people powerful by means of magic, or skill. My other crack theory is that Reid is supposed to represent divine protections in the hero trio while Flugelhorn represents authorities(we know he had at least sloth) and volcanica represents magic(he is literally mana). The dragon sword Reid can not see authority users as strong opponents as they are not conventionally strong. They are ancient and odd. They override divine protections apparently and probably can’t be sensed by the sword

just read reinhard,subaru and emilia vs regulas and goddam when they animate it its gonna be amazing so much overpowered bs on both sides

Satella is also very close to Stella, which is “of Latin and Italian origin meaning ‘celestial star’,” according to the internet

When you finish arc 5, be sure to read "Gorgeous Tiger Reloaded" Which wraps up garfiel's plot line fore this arc. Its part of the Web novel but its not translated by witch cult translation, instead by heretic translations

Great review and I totally agree on the pacing part. I remember how I read the WN of arc 4 within 2 weeks, but it took me about 3 months to get through arc 5 because of the pacing and how they would switch pov mid fight which, yea wasn't the best imo.

If you get the chance you should definitely check out Summer Time Rendering. It’s a new anime airing this season. Won’t spoil but if you like Re:Zero you’ll like this one. 👍

I mean Volachia is moreso meant to be a parallel to Sparta than anything else. Facism implies totalitarian governmental control and a lack of social mobility, both of which are not the case in Volachia since social mobility is very much a thing there. Now that's not to imply that Volachia isn't brutal, it is, but it doesn't seem accurate to call it facist either.

@@VJ-Vice Fascism is defined by ultranationalism, which usually takes the form of a belief in racial purity like you see with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Vollachia doesn't really see any of that and is actually pretty diverse, so I'd hesitate to call them fascist.
