Action Man sent into space : UNCUT GoPro FOOTAGE!

UNCUT footage of vintage Palitoy Action Man (G.I.Joe) aboard a Space Capsule being launched into stratosphere to celebrate his 50th birthday in the UK.
52 Mins
In June 2016, to celebrate Action Man's 50th birthday year, a 1966 vintage Action Man in an adapted 1967 vintage spacesuit, helmet and boots traveled 11.4 miles into near space inside a customised 1967 Action Man space capsule. The 'Unofficial' Mission was Kickstarter funded by Rob Wisdom, and the special met-balloon flight was co-ordinated by Chris Hillcox. Art & Science became mission backers during the funding process. Bob Brechin (Palitoy Chief Designer 1967-84) launched the mission at 3:53pm on June 26th 2016 from the training pitch at Coalville Town FC. The capsule broke apart at 18,384m above sea level and the tracker, Go-Pro camera and Major Tom all fell to earth separately. The mission lasted nearly one hour. Major Tom remains missing along with parts of the capsule and gold dog tags somewhere between Creaton and Cottesbrooke on private land (The Cottesbrooke Estate who did not grant permission to search) in Northamptionshire. The mission was a success - it remains the highest recorded altitude for an Action Man figure and vehicle.

Outstanding to you and your Team 🎖😄🎉. Does this mean Action Man is the first 12" action figure to go aloft as an Astronaut 🤔? WOW!

Rob - would love to email you / talk, but in the meantime I am running a HAB workshop end of this month and building up the flight with my Primary School after school club. We too are sending and Action Man up into near space as an Apollo 50 tribute. I was going to ask where you got your Friendship Module but see in the comments it was the real thing (well model). I am probably going to have to 3D print one. The Action Man we are sending up is called Vincent, last name Velator, taken from the River Estuary he was found in a couple of years ago. Maybe he is actually Major Tom? I showed my club your video, they loved it.

Interesting...I thought perhaps you either installed a timer or some other 'cutdown' system but it looks like the capsule thrusters got stuck at 60,000 feet just before Action Man bailed out of his breaking apart vehicle 41.03 or more probably he experienced severe turbulence even at 60,000' leaving the balloon to continue rising to greater heights. Nice video.
