    @luck and boon it's an example of the repetition excercise..the guy above was clearly joking about it but it's something like that...you and your partner repeat the same sentence over and over again...

  • @liquidbraino

    @liquidbraino

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@losmilzo81 Technically it's an example of the three moment game. We don't ask questions while doing repetition. The only time you should be asking questions is during the three moment game which is designed to teach you how to deal with questions because it's inevitable that it's going to happen at some point in time. So how do you deal with a question? Repeat the question from your POV. But with the three moment game it's supposed to be a provocative question (first moment), the second moment is repeating that question from your POV and the third moment is calling out what the POV was. For example - let's say I asked you "Do you think Donald Trump is the greatest president ever?" You're not supposed to answer the question - you're supposed to repeat the question and HOW you repeat the question should tell me everything I need to know about how you feel. "Do I think TRUMP is the greatest president ever?!!" (subtext = "are you f'ing crazy?"). So in the third moment you might say something like "You DON'T like Donald Trump". Which the other actor then repeats. The Three Moment Game is another way of launching into repetition.

    If you can find a few other people that are also interest in being actors you can also buy Larry Silverbergs book series called "The Sanford Meisner Approach". And just do the exercises as they are laid out in the book. But you really do want to find a teacher at some point in time. Learning to act by reading about it is like trying to learn how to ride a bike by reading about it.

  • @ActingCareerCenter

    3 жыл бұрын

    No. My KZread videos are not a substitute for acting classes. In a real class, you are performing in front of the teacher and they are giving you feedback, telling you what you did well and what you need to improve. I'm not able to do that via KZread. However, you don't have to join a physical group. You can attend acting classes via zoom. Those can still be interactive and provide feedback.

    You may be able to find some private acting teachers that are less expensive than formal acting schools. And you don't necessarily need to learn how to sing in order to do theatre. There are many plays that require no signing. Also, MANY movies and shows are filmed in the UK. I went to London to film a movie in 2019. You are in a great place to study acting.

    Almost every teacher in the world is teaching online right now (zoom classes etc). But you're probably not going to find any free classes. You can watch videos and read books all day but learning to act by reading about it is like trying to learn how to ride a bike by looking at pictures of people on bikes. It's not going to work. You need to get yourself into a class and if it's free - it will probably be worth every penny that you pay for it. Get a job - anywhere, even McDonalds; it doesn't matter - make money; pay for classes. Like the rest of us. If you don't take yourself seriously as an actor, nobody else will.

    Do you think you could do any videos with some actual acting tips, and maybe give some examples of you doing different scenes and teaching what to do and not to do? I find it really difficult to ignore the camera when it’s recording and to act natural without sounding robotic and like you’re just reading lines off of the script. It seems really hard to get out of my head … and I can’t seem to make everything flow smoothly without trying to think of my lines and then thinking of my face expressions and body language etc. and it just ends up being a poor job of acting. I am super self-aware of the camera rolling and self-conscious. I find this especially true when doing a self tape for an audition. Do you think it is harder when you’re self taping for an audition versus when you are actually acting in a scene, especially having other actors acting and interacting with you? Didn’t know if that helped make things any easier and more realistic instead of just doing a self tape audition by yourself, especially without a reader. And do you find that having a reader who is inexperienced with acting and doesn’t add emotion or make it feel very realistic is actually worse than having a reader at all? I find that really trips me up and makes it even harder to act with. I’m a beginner and just turned in my first self tape audition and I thought it was pretty bad, no matter how many times I kept redoing it. Thanks!

    The best way to get an agent is by referral. Who are some actors in your city that know you and can vouch for your skills? Ask if they would be willing to refer you to their agent. If you don't have anyone in your network that can refer you to their agent, then you will have to submit on your own. Most agencies have submission instructions on their website so just follow those instructions.
