Salary of ACS officers are much less than Officers of other State PCS officers. For example SDO in bihar gets initial salary around 65K

ACS officer's salary also goes around upto Rs.65,000. But after deductions, their in-hand salary is around Rs.58,500. Anyways, I don't know about Bihar PCS officers' salary.

In bihar the officers receive salary based on central pay commission (7th CPC) and their basic pay for 5400 grade pay jobs starts at Rs 56100...However in Assam the salary is not as per central pay commission and the officers working in same grade pay of 5400 has basic pay of 43300...So the basic pay has a difference of nearly 13000 and so the salary difference is there

Welcome! In case of APS, Physical Test is just a Physical Examination of the body by a certified medical team. And, if they find any discrepancy, then you will be offered a post next to APS.

To apply for APSC, you need to be a permanent resident of Assam, and should have fluency in any one of the regional language of Assam.

PWD Assistant Engineers have their own departmental powers. But they don't get as much respect as an ACS or an APS officer. PWD AE Exam is also conducted by the APSC. But it doesn't falls under CCE/ACS Exam.

Those who are enthusiastic enough to serve their people at the grassroots level should only join the Prestigious Civil Services. Otherwise, there are other options available for them. Because, here salary doesn't matter at all. What matters is power, responsibility, prestige etc. Because apart from salary, there are other perks like unlimited petrol, government car, quarter, PSO, cook, maid etc. It's a Bureaucracy kind of thing.
