Acrylic Pouring Recipe - DecoArt Extreme Sheen & Satin Enamel D.A's Easy Recipe!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

🎧 My acrylic pouring recipe, no measuring involved, with decoart extreme sheen, satin enamel and Floetrol only.
You can get clear, sharp lines and its the recipe i use for silicone free cells, pearls, straight pours, tree rings etc. Its an Acrylic Pour Recipe that goes Step by Step For Beginners or Intermediate Pourers.
Sick of mud?... tried so many times? Watch this and then check your paints bounce and stretch!
Follow my principle of Long drizzle and bouncy finish for consistent results every time.
This principle of "long stretch and bouncy finish" can apply to any brand. It is logical to think that if you want a paint to stretch and tilt across a canvas, then you need it to be stretchy, it should run off the stick/stirrer for a good 10 secs and bounce up to the stick like an elastic band if you want the colours to stay true and clear of mud. If your paint drips down in drops, then it is too thin, if i clumps down in blobs, it is too thick.
On occasion you will get mud if the paint is overworked on the canvas itself. like too much tilting or swiping. Everyone has a different standard of how much mud is acceptable for their taste, personally I try to avoid it as much as possible but can appreciate it at other times. I have some videos where the paint gets too muddy for my taste, but this is due to the technique or usually the experiment i poured with. If the paint has to go through small holes with a dirty cup or a layered cup, or pass over multiple bumps or is too stretched (over blowing or working the canvas tilt) you can still get mud with ANY recipe! So the technique and restraint you have will also change your results.
A great recipe is so important. It is the foundation of a great art piece in my opinion. I get many questions and request to review paintings for advice or ask what my recipe is... this is the best advice i can give anyone! If you dont want mud - follow the principle in this video. Also see the below video using standard acrylic for a beginners (non metallic or enamel).

    Your correct in your observation that the satin enamel does thicken the paint but the satin enamel can create different effects in the end result and blend the colours differently. depending on the style pour - you will get different reactions. The effects arnt as obvious in this pour - but here is a link to an example of the effects - kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4qLvJKAo7fFdbw.html

    Wow, so helpful, thank you. I use American Floetrol, but I’m guessing it’s the same amount until I get the “boing” drip test?

  • @DirtyArtist

    @DirtyArtist

    Yes just add it slowly in amounts until you find the stretchy drip and bounce. 👍 American floetrol can we way thinner than Australian so u may actually use less.

    Great informative video! I use basically the same recipe, but American Floetrol. Is the Aussie stuff thinner? I have found that unless the paint is thinner than my Floetrol (like a craft paint, the deco arts, etc...) I end up having to add water to thin them out a bit more to get that consistency. Also, what is the benefit to adding satin enamels? I’ve never tried those.

  • @DirtyArtist

    @DirtyArtist

    Actually i beleive the aussie floetrol is supposed to be thicker than the us one. But i have also heard that the consistency has fluctuated over the last year or so. Personally i had a batch that was really thin about 7 or 8 months ago. I just adjusted my recipe to add less floetrol. Still no water though. The satin enamel can create different effects in the end result and blend the colours differently. depending on the style pour - you will get different reactions. The effects arnt as obvious in this pour - but here is a link to an example of the effects - kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4qLvJKAo7fFdbw.html

    Excellent info. Any ideas for mixing the Deco Art Color Shift paints? I can't get mine to work correctly. I used two colors in the same painting, and it turned to mud. No color shifting at all. Maybe you can't use more than one per painting.

  • @DirtyArtist

    They are usually pretty thin paints, i have found that you cant put a lot of medium/floetrol with them. Test a 75% paint to 25% floetrol first, then add a bit more floetrol if you can a bit at a time. pushing to a 50/50 split or less. Just to get a bit more quantity for your $.

    It may be that your mix or too thin - or perhaps if you add water it will be more likely to do that with the extm sheens. Yeah - their colours are amazing!

    Two questions, DA: Doesn't paint form a skin when standing overnight? The paint with the satin enamel - does that go in your pour mix or is it for a base coat?

  • @DirtyArtist

    @DirtyArtist

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Susan, you can just cover the cups overnight to avoid a skin. The satin enamel paint is added as a layer of white anywhere you choose in the cup. I like a bit in the bottom and sometimes about half way. But adding a puddle in the middle of your canvas before pouring your cup produces cool effects too. 😊

    Hello, I've been thinking about this for a while. It is always mixed with Floetrol. Can it be that the consistency differs from country to country? I live in Germany and believe that the Floetrol I can buy here is thicker, which makes it difficult for me to mix the right consistency of the pouring colors. Especially with pastose colors. It always looks a bit more fluid in the videos. Colored greetings from Luna

    Yes I believe floetrol can vary in consistancy which can be very annoying. But the principles of stretch and bounce in the vid remain the same. If your floetrol is thicker, you can experiment with adding small amounts of water to thin it down a bit. The floetrol I use doesn't require water as it's perhaps a little thinner than yours. The USA floetrol his even thinner than the Australia floetrol as well.

    Thank you so much! I suspected that. This thick Floetrol makes mixing a lot more complicated because I would actually prefer to keep the water content very low. But, I'll stick with it. Colored greetings from Luna
