Acrylic painting floating forms, Acrylmalerei schwebende Formen

With hairdryer and paint I create a beautiful background, but in the end it shines through only in a few places..
To me, this process of painting has a special meaning. Even if the background would be totally covered in the end, it still affects the effect and the appearance of the image. That's how I see it with all things and beings in this world - even if they are not (or no more) visible, they are still "there" and influence everything we perceive.
In addition, the process of "masking" for me corresponds to the courage to leave something - to be able to part with something to dare new.
And third, it's really exciting to engage in a process controlled unconsciously, and see what happens ....

I love the way you find your way to the end result. I have to say, I'm one of those people who panic a little, or a lot, when things don't turn out the way I had planned. But you have showed me that it is okay to keep trying and adding and experimenting until it turns in to something. Thank You Gerda.

It is liberating for me to watch the way you paint and how your work evolves along the way. It feels like each work is like a story with many layers underneath. And as you mentioned in your introduction, it does not matter if we can see all that is beneath the many layers -- it is all still there and a part of the whole. You are fascinating.

Gerda, you are my teacher and my inspiration. I always wanted to paint. I love abstract painting, but I always wanted to paint with quality and beauty. I never met a person who inspired me and taught me as many techniques as you have done for you tube. You are a blessed and generous person. I'm sure you have made many happy people around the world with the beauty of your painting and your personality. Eternally grateful, Gelson, his student from Brazil.

In California here: What's a binder? Binder - is that a polymer gloss, matt medium or something else? Are you sealing the pages with a clear mat layer to keep the layer before from moving or reactivating?

  • @GerdaLipski

    @GerdaLipski

LindieLee Hi, binder is an acrylic medium. You can use it also to mix your own acrylics from pigments, water plus acrylic binder. Here I use it, to cover a layer of paint and prevent abrading

Gerda Lipski Okay, I think what you are using is the same as Golden brand Polymer Medium which is their paint formula but without pigment. By "cover a layer" you mean seal the layer right? I love your videos - very inspiring.

I use cardboard, you normally use for drawing (200 g/m2). But if you seal it with gesso, paint or acrylic binder first, you can use it for acrylics. Thank you for your Feedback!
