It reminds me of the way Batman TAS graciously hired Japanese studios that basically went uncredited in the minds of the people, contributing to "western animation", because no way they would let japanese DIRECTORS AND WRITERS headline their biggest money making and propaganda machines. And now being sequestered into its little island of "anime is cool though" not threatening the REAL cartoon industry, same thing is happening with Filipino animation and all the OTHER countries that are not so strictly under US yoke... yet. Exactly. AtSV was making sure all the preliminaries were taken care of for their proper and best payoff in BtSV next year. I was upset that the movie ended as a Part-One when it never felt like a Part-One movie for the entirety of the film, but I understand and enjoy the care and passion that is being put into this series.

not only the memes but the easter eggs everywhere. it felt like a crime to blink. pav and hobie's intro linking to their cultures and personalities, all of the spiderpeople in the background, everything had a meaning and it was overwhelming and amazing and i had to rewatch it at least 3 times because there is always SOMETHING you missed last time.

It's because it's a good movie and doesn't try to force memes like the MCU. People actually like it so memes get born.

As much as I hate that the movie ended on the cliffhanger. This does mean that we get more of the same amazing story without too much worry of the quality degrading due to writers having to struggle with creating a brand new characters and story. Now they can just let the story play out while giving us more of the world building

You know your movie is good when it's 2 hours and 20 minutes long and people's only complaint after seeing it is that they wanted more.

3:05 I was so split between these two when the movie ended, just sitting there blank thinking “it can’t be over right” and staring amazed at the idea of the story possibly spanning 5 hours

I actually prefer them breaking the film up, means we were able to spend more time with each character and each scene. Gwen's backstory was well-explained and took some time, and if it was one film, that might've been skipped. The film still breezed by, because it was such a good time!

Imma be real, ending on a cliffhanger is like- the only way it ciild have gone. This story is simply too big for a single movie unless you were to release it in one of those lotr extended 5 hour things. In order to tell the story they wanted to, they need the extra time.

Someone's already pointed this out, but they also hired a 14 year old animator that uses lego to create the lego sequence between Lego Spiderman and Miguel. They really do appreciate the people that create and the people that shows that they are one of the best flexible people possible. I love the people that made this film and its script, can't wait for Beyond the Spiderverse!

My absolute favorite is the "i respect every spider man here" meme, especially the Spanish version It's just so aggressive with how miguel says it, it's hillarious

You know the movie is great when the biggest complaint is that it ends.

Even peter B parker resonates with people of an older generation who remembers how spider-man used to be with the line "When you say, 'the fate of the Multiverse' my head explodes"

Every character, regardless of sexuality, gender or disability, was written competently. Even down to the spider-woman in a robot spider chair or the mixing of languages between Miles and his mom. Pavitr was done in a very tongue-in-cheek fashion and though it was played for laughs, it was a very authentic representation. I would say the same for Hobie as well, one of the standout characters of a film containing hundreds of spider-people.

I have already watched this film 5 times lol there’s small things you can miss and you gain a deeper understanding for Gwen, Miguel, Hobie, etc. as to why they do the things the do.

Hey look it’s me :p Fr tho this movie goes so hard, there isn’t a single scene in this movie that goes to waste, it’s so condensed and focused that even though it’s longer than 2 hours if feels like it goes by in 20 minutes, definitely the most fun I’ve ever had watching a movie

Imagine whiffing a punch against the one Spider-Man without spider sense. The fact that Miguel (2099 spidey) doesn't even have a spider-sense, but Miles does, makes the meme 10x funnier.

I’m so glad that this movie is a two-parter. This is because if it was one movie it would either be really long, slightly long but kinda rushed, or just really rushed.

Face it, the only reason why we are mad that there was no ending is because we loved the rest of the movie so much

what i love is that in the gwen and miles scene where they're just sitting, gwen's hair makes a small candle on her head, showing her burning passion to do well. meanwhile, miles sits rigidly, as he's just kinda doing the same thing over and over again, and he's gotten used to it.

Lord and Miller really understand how to do pop culture references. they know how to make them funny as a reference while also tying it up to good comedy or even drama and character growth for even those who don't get the reference. Spider-Verse has tons of fan-service in every corner, but even knowing none of it the movie is still great and you can understand all of it. they don't let the memes and references get in the way of the movie, instead they act as additional flavor.

Turns out me having no game is a canon event…

The movie does have an ending if you look at it from a character standpoint. The movie begins and ends with Gwen whom has been upgraded from side character to deurotagonist.

Wow, definitely love the longer format on this episode! Sure there was a lot to say on the subject, and you did a pretty extensive deep dive, but it was well written and articulately presented as always good sir. Kudos!

I went into this film totally blind, didn't even see the first one. It blew me away. I'm hooked and ready for part 3.

I love how there's so many memes over the movie but also everyone things it's absolutely goated for how they made the characters.

0:28 I'm so glad they got SM PS4 in there. I shouldn't be surprised with how many there are, I can't imagine how long a list of every known Spiderman appearance in this movie would be. No Spider Cuz though. 😕 0/10 movie. How canon are the multiverse appearances though? If he's in this movie, does that mean it's now canon that SM PS4 has been pulled through the multiverse at some point?
