From what I've been told they were originally going to do just one sequel film, but found the plot they had for it really snowballed out in scope until it was wayyyyy too big to do as one movie. So they basically just took a four-hour movie and split it into two parts, and I think that explains the end result quite well. I went into this knowing it was not a complete story, so I wasn't too bothered by it. Just gotta wait and see if they stick the landing, which I have a strong feeling they will.

To be fair they planned one big movie but had a lot of plot holes to fit in to one so they split the movie mid way through production and that cause animation to quit cause of that.
I think the problem with where they left off is that as much as I LOVE the Gwen portions of the film, they didn't really do the best of job setting up what clearly was supposed to be the bookends of ATSV. Gwen's story. The film starts with Gwen's narration, including flashes of what's to come. And it ends with Gwen's narration, showing how far she's come. Gwen does generally have A full circle Arc, even if there is more to come with her. And while Miles is given absolutely stellar moments in his conflict with Miguel, its Gwen who ultimately gets the stinging line against Spider Society as a whole in "we're supposed to be the good guys". As well as potentially finding a way to change their canons safely with her dad. And while none of this bad in the slightest, it is a bit clunky. As its not the clearest that that is what this story was supposed to be. Gwen recounting the story as ATSV's Deuteragonist up to that point. As part of her own journey to "Find her place, and find her own Band". Its not that ATSV doesn't have A complete story arc. It in fact does. Its just Gwen's, not Miles'. But its not the clearest about that. Though, given the way the movie is created, if they really stick that landing with BTSV, it will enhance this already very good movie retroactively and smooth out its flaws.

This is a great comment. A lot of people act like ATSV didn't have a complete story but it did. But if this many people were confused about it then maybe the movie could've made it clearer. I disagree with just stop's statement that the movie didn't climax .

Yeah, save for the very beginning and their interactions filtered through Miles coming to the Society, the only thing we had that hinted at Gwen and Miguel's relationship was how she spoke about him to Miles, despite the fact that that relationship affected both of them. You could tell how torn Gwen between her duty and her desire to reconnect with Miles because Miguel not only helped her out of a bad spot, but also gave her a sense of purpose and a place where she wasn't alone. One of the precious few moments of humanity in Miguel was him recognizing how alike he and Gwen were and taking pity on her (as well as being shown to find her to be a very competent fighter after the battle with Vulture.) And the way he reacted to her parting words showed him that she felt some connection with her. His first "We are" was very quiet and gave off the impression that she had rattled him and he was trying to convince HIMSELF that he was in the right. That's not something Miles would have been able to do since Miguel didn't have a relationship of any kind with Miles. But most of that is just speculation and gleaning information from what we're being TOLD, and very little of what we were actually shown. If I'm correct and the third movie has a Miguel focus then I hope we get more about his relationship with Gwen that explains more about why she felt loyal to him and didn't really view him as a bad dude until Miles came along, and why Miguel was shaken so much by Gwen's words.

This movie has already been criticized quite a bit for the ending tho. I don't know why yall are acting like you aren't allowed to have problems with the film. Just say what you wanna say about the movie without needing to make some larger commentary on the fanbase because it's never accurate.
Honestly, i love that stupid cliffhanger. No matter how wierd it was the memory of me and a bunch of other people (including 2 friends i somehow made in the theatre in less than 5 minutes) just going "WHAT?!" and staying through the entire credits as a mix of coping, processing what happened, and hoping there was a post credit scene. There wasnt. I then spent the next 20 minutes chatting with my new friends in front of the movie poster talking about how cool it all was
I had this exact same issue with the movie too! A lot of it just felt like set-up/rising action lacking a clear conclusion and I left the theater feeling like a lot of plot points were unfinished and unresolved. Again, yeah it makes sense since this is just part one of a longer story, but especially because of those last 30 minutes or so it doesn’t feel like it can stand on its own as an independent project in the same way the original can. (That being said it was still amazing and blew me away and I can confidently say it’s my current fav movie of the year so far)
I left the theater thinking "wow, that was even better than the first one". They took everything that made Into the Spiderverse special and perfected it. The amount of love and care that was put into this movie was phenomenal.
In my opinion, I think they let the movie go on maybe 5 minutes too long. I feel if they had cut at the point to where he had just gotten 'home', and maybe still having the shot of Gwen assembling the crew, it would've left a bit more of the mystery of where he ended up while still having that kind of hopefulness that Empire Strikes Back and Back to the Future 2's cliffhangers had. But that's just my opinion of course.
I think it's a really bold choice to end it on such a sudden cliffhanger, and while I don't think it makes Across the Spider-Verse have a satisfying ending, I think it _will_ make Beyond the Spider-Verse start out that much stronger. It's not a weak ending because it's so sudden, it's a weak ending because it's _not_ the ending - you just only saw _half_ of the story. To make a long story short I want them to release a supercut of both movies that's 4 hours long and rivals James Cameron's Avatar
For a warning, this is major spoilers for the ending so don't read below Though the cliffhanger is making me excited for the sequel, I feel like a perfect ending would've been either A. Miles being sent home but the camera focusing on Earth 42 on the screen or B. Miguel entering Miles earth and then the post credit scene focusing on the send home device and it showing earth 42 or something, it in my opinion would make sense as a cliffhanger but also leave people on the edge of their seats. If you disagree then thats fair, I just feel like its less abrupt but still leaves room for Beyond the spiderverse
@GladwinAbel

Yes ended it sooner without building up all that anticipation would have been better. I don’t argue cause at the end it’s a incomplete movie on it’s own but having miles run into his worst nightmare the version is himself that Miguel wants his father dead and he’s not Spider-Man the next movie will no doubt elevate miles even more
I’d honestly say the ending is an extremely reliable and truthful IOU. It just sorta goes “hey come back in nine months and we’ll blow your nuts off”
I think from first watch, ppl might not like the ending of ATSV. However, when you look at how the film ended, it completes the arc that the very film opened with: Gwens story. I think the film creators knew what they were doing to fulfil plot points whilst leaving things for us to get hyped for in BTSV
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is an annual plant of the family Asteraceae. It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable, but sometimes for its stem and seeds. Lettuce is most often used for salads, although it is also seen in other kinds of food, such as soups, sandwiches and wraps; it can also be grilled.[3] One variety, celtuce (asparagus lettuce), is grown for its stems, which are eaten either raw or cooked. In addition to its main use as a leafy green, it has also gathered religious and medicinal significance over centuries of human consumption. Europe and North America originally dominated the market for lettuce, but by the late 20th century the consumption of lettuce had spread throughout the world. As of 2021, world production of lettuce and chicory was 27 million tonnes, 53 percent of which came from China.[4]

I feel like we can all agree, regardless of how unsatisfied we are with the ending as it was a cliffhanger, that the soundtrack is once again fucking FIRE.
The issue is the film doesn't really have an ending, it just stops. The 'ending' didn't really give an indication about what's to come (for example the ending of Two Towers showing Mount Doom and the long journey the Hobbits still have to go). And considering the next film is only a year away, they really should have put a trailer for it at the end of the film. Instead, the film feels like watching a film on TV as a kid, and then your parents turn the TV off mid movie because you have to go to bed.

Love both Spiderverse movies.
I honestly agree to some degree actually. I was prepared for it to go on at least another 30-40 minutes when it actually ended, and I wasn’t so much irritated by it as left almost disappointed I guess is the word I want. I hoped for a better stopping point cuz while yes I can’t wait for the next movie it ended REALLY abruptly to me.
I think another things is that Miles’ and the Spider Society’s objectives overlap, but they don’t realize that for some reason (at least more on the Spider Society’s part). Like they talk about the fact that they have this dimension hopping demon on the loose who was actively seeking a way to power up, he gets said power up and immediately ditches the scene. Miles doesn’t realize the true meaning of his premonition until he learns of the Canon events at which point he connects the events to the Spots’s threats. Then the SS society at the behest of Miguel hound Miles for trying to stop his dad’s death despite the fact that the SS trying to stop the Spot and Miles trying to save his dad are two sides of the same coin. Or am I overthinking this.

Good point. Perhaps they only realized the Spot's role in a canon event after they started pursuing him.
I completely agree with your point. I loved Across to death, as soon as I finished it I immediately wanted to watch it over and over again. But by ending it on a cliffhanger means that if Beyond doesn't stick the landing Across will retroactively feel more incomplete, like a sour after taste. As I patiently wait for Beyond to come out this will be my biggest concern. But I have no reason to believe that Beyond won't be amazing, I'm sure that when I'll walk out of the cinema this will be my favourite trilogy of all time and I'll feel silly for even worrying in the first place.
Honestly, the minute I heard this was part 1 of the two-parter, this is exactly how I figured it would end. If anything, there were, like, at least three other instances prior to that moment where I thought it would end, and none of those were proper conclusions.
I love how everyone's main problem is that the movie didn't last longer 😂. Usually there are complaints that movies are too long but this is one of the few times people wanted more time
Although I see your points, I still feel like across the spider verse was better then the first one. But I am curious on how you would have done the movie differently to fix those issues.

I totaly agree, i was wondering what it was that felt so wrong/weird about the ending and its just that it wasnt one at all. It was a crazy and wonderful buildup but there was really not a good place to end.
I felt exactly the same way when I finished watching the movie. I was like "that was it?" I felt The movie was incomplete because nothing really resolved. it felt more like an end of a episode of a show than a movie

It makes sense why they split it into two but yeah, people who were saying everywhere that it wasn’t ‘half a movie’ kind of felt like they just wanted to heap more praise onto it since it truly does so much expertly, but there’s too many loose threads at the end of part 1 for it to feel truly satisfying. That’s fine as a part 1 but as an experience where I have to wait for the next part, it admittedly sucks. Once part 2 is out that problem will essentially be dealt with though for any future viewers.
I avoided as many spoilers as I could before going to see the movie, I wanted to be genuinely surprised with every aspect of the movie without outside influence. That being said, I didn't know that it was a part 1 and ended on a cliff hanger. When it said to be continued, I screamed "NO" in the theater without thinking. I agree, it is only half a story and does not end at a natural stopping point. At least my outburst made some kind strangers giggle

Dude took the words right out of my mouth. Loved this video, literally exactly how I felt in theaters
I'm so happy someone made a video like this because it's important to criticize things you love! The cliffhanger did feel extremely jarring to me, even though i understand where it came from. To me personally, this film also had some minor pacing issues that felt just out of place enough to break my immersion for a moment. And overall, it just doesn't feel as sharp as the first, if that makes sense? So many things happen and none of them stand out in my memory bright enough. If i'm asked about what are my favorite scenes from part 1, i'm immediately torn between at least 5. With Across the Spiderverse though, i don't really have the same response The animation was incredible. My jaw was on the floor the entire time in the theatre, but i wish the plot was just as good
Man when BTSV drops, i BEG that they release a version of the film that begins with ATSV and then continues onto BTSV. They could even cut ATSV’s credits and edit scenes to truly make it one whole flowing story. Idc if they made it more expensive to watch, id pay up.
also this film gave me a severe sensory fit to the point where i felt sick THE REST OF THE DAY. stay careful peeps
Most of my complaints come down to personal nitpicks that don’t really affect plot or characters, like I would have loved to see some PS1 and 2 Spider-Men with that video game joke, and Madam Web was sadly missing, however I do have one major complaint, that may or may not be valid, depending on what the next movie does. That being (SPOILERS): I really don’t think Miles should be able to find another way. If he finds another way, other than not altering the canon, then that will effectively undermine literally every other Spider-Man ever. It will put Miles on a pedestal. The character is already the center of enough debate, in regards to how he may or may not step on the toes of the legacy of Peter Parker, but to have him just legitimately outsmart every other Spider-Man ever, when it comes to saving lives, is just going too far. I think Miles should fail, and he has to learn that some things, like death, are simply inevitable, and we just need to learn to appreciate the time we have. But the tropes of movies like this say that he’s going to find a way, and I just truly think that would be to the detriment of the narrative. But, overall, 9/10

I've had the same concerns ever since the full trailer dropped. Spider-Man is usually portrayed as one of the greatest heroes around, someone who always beats the odds. So if even they think that what Miles is trying to do is impossible, there should be a good reason for it. If they have Miles succeed, it'll feel like they're not just saying that he's worthy of being Spider-Man, but that he's _better_ than other Spider-Men, which would not only devalue the rest of them, but make it feel like they're trying to push the character too hard. Hopefully they'll manage a conclusion that I find satisfying, like maybe Miles does save his dad, but there still has to be a sacrifice of some kind to keep everything from going tits up.

Yeah she undermines Miguel at the start when he’s being a badass by pausing the plot by explaining how much better she is whilst in dangering her unborn child! Now that is true but they literally made up their own character with reference on a comic book that was universally hated. Now back to what I was saying about how she was forced in. @@holty1314 Some interesting points, however I do disagree imo. I think that setting up a reason for Miles to dislike miguel by ‘taking away’ Gwen from him would only cheapen his rebuttal against Miguel and the spiderverse, because his reasoning behind why he’s going against Miguel isn’t just to save his family and prove that he can do both, but also becomes going against Miguel as revenge for Gwen, or atleast that’s how I could see people interpreting that relationship. Also, Miguel didn’t want Gwen in the team so Jessica was needed to get Jessica into the group. Alongside that, she doesn’t spend her whole time defending Gwen, as she only protects her once, when she wasn’t watching the spot. After miles gets out of the Spiderhub, Jessica actively tells Gwen that it’s up to Miguel now, she doesn’t try to protect her at all. But once again that is just my opinion and I’m sure there are ways to write the story without her in, but I don’t personally think enough is solved to warrant removing an interesting character and 2nd hand to Miguel from the movie

I can get this take and others about preferring the first one and while I do agree it is more complete and arguably funnier I think the drama is dialed up to 11 in the sequel and for all the right reasons the stuff with gwen and her dad, miles feeling the weight of his actions and how they parallel with miguels tragic origin and the stuff with his parents were all moments that legit made me tear up 4 times and it’s insanely hard for any piece of media to do that even once, while I do get the somewhat abrupt ending may feel a tad dissatisfying I do get why it had to happen (the comparisons some people have to empire strikes back are logical but the cliffhanger to empire was more questions than setup of conflicts to be resolved in the next film with the exception of han being frozen so it worked better there) but who cares this movie was phenomenal from beginning to end and I was shook leaving the theater far more than I thought I would Can’t recommend it enough

Facts I personally don’t like humor all that much, I laugh a lot on this film but was fully immersed more than part one it’s just something really special about this film that I can’t explain
The Empire Strikes Back comparison is really good. I also felt like the flow of the pace wasn’t as good as the first one.
My only problem with the movie is that characters eem to only "glitch" when it's relevant to the plot. Can someone, please, explain to me why they glitch at extremely random intervals for example never when they're in combat but when miles is in earth 42 it's frequent and then later in earth 42 it just stops. Why?

Please explain
This has to be the most blue balled of all cliffhangers in film history
I'm hoping that when Beyond is out, they release a version where Across and Beyond play back-to-back with no "TBC" in the middle. Just one continuous experience
I completely agree because after seeing the movie a third time with one of my friends, he said that we were still in the rising action and it didn’t fully work as a film, although he did admit everything else was great. He’s right because man everything it did was some of the best cinema I’ve seen in 2 years but MAAAN I wanna see it finished
Tbh you kinda hit the nail on the head. I felt the same and you did an excellent job of putting it into words.
I think you made a good point, dude. I personally didn't mind the cliffhanger, especially coming from someone who saw the first movie for the first time weeks before seeing the second. Plus, given the troubles that surfaced during the production and the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes causing it to be delayed indefinitely... Yeah, we'll be waiting a good while before the conclusion.
Well thought out take and considering you love the films as much as you do. Great vid.
The cliff hanger had me on the edge of my seat.
I didn't mind the cliffhanger because many characters got full arcs, honestly my only complaint was that some jokes and references felt flat
I remember being in the theatre opening day of the movie and when it got to the "to be continued" part everyone in the audience just looked around confused and bewildered because it felt like the last 30 minutes of the movie had just been sliced off from it, this movie has no actual conclusion and dropped the ball at the very end because of it, the perfect analogy for this movie I've seen was akin to the rebels flying towards the death star for the finale of the movie and then cutting to a "to be continued" text and ending right there, it doesn't matter if this is just a part 1 it *needs* to have its own satisfying conclusion, Star Wars and LOTR worked this out decades ago for crying out loud. Dropping the "Part 1" from the title was the absolute worse decision they could've made with this movie, as atleast going in people would've atleast known they weren't getting a complete story, never the less having a Part 1 movie without its own conclusion to the 140 minutes of time we spent watching and getting invested is just stupid beyond comparison.

Cool bro
I didn’t know it was a part one, so my reaction was basically “that’s IT????!!!!” If it was more up front about the fact that there would be a cliffhanger it would have been cool, but because I didn’t know beforehand, it was more just a feeling that it ended without any sort of resolution. Great movie though. Loved the art style(s) and animation. 9.275/10
I mean, the film starts with Gwen, introducing the beginning of her story for this movie with her dad, and by the end of that movie it's wrapped up. It has a conclusion to a story, as well as a Cliffhanger for the overarching narrative.

It was a conclusion for a story arc, not the movie.

@@shawnellesmith Her story arc was like the central arc of the movie. Miles Story arc is the central arc of the trilogy.
I definitely see where you’re coming from. Although I didn’t mind the ending, it was definitely drawn out a bit longer than it would’ve probably been if the rest of the story just played after. And looking back on it, they probably didn’t give as much screen time to the Spot so that everything else could have more focus as a primary conflict. I heard that they removed certain scenes from the movie with the Spot, which I do find a little unfortunate, but if they kept the end credit scene (which I actually saw a suggestion that they could’ve made it the start of the next film which would’ve worked really well), I think it would’ve undermined the ending of this part a bit. Putting the focus away from the Spot made the ending more impactful as although he is an impending threat, there is a lot more to this story.
I dont really know how to feel, I totally get your point but after I watched the movie, I was both hyped and intreeged by the ending, so much that ill try my best to be on day one when beyond comes out but I do see your points. However I think Peter's kid will play a bigger role in the sequel rather then its appearance and the small touching scene when Peter wanted to help Milles escape/understand his faith. The pregnancy... idk might be an end movie reveal or Smth but I liked the ending a lot, the curiosity as gwen clashed her band to help miles save his father. Mighelle and the other 2 trying to find Miles while he is stuck with his evil counterpart that is going to (hopefully) fight against in the next movie. Like im so hyped and since its a sequel they will have MORE then enough to fit in a concluding and nice story.
The ending was fine because I was lucky enough to be spoiled that "it ends on a massive cliff hanger" so I was able to brace my expectations. I'd rather the film be split the way it was than cut to a single film losing stuff or at a less impactful scene. The ending to me felt fine because it sets up shit will be going down hard in next film but I can see why ending on a crescendo would bug people. My actually gripes for it are both audio based. 1. In some scenes especially early on it was noticeably distracting how they were in intense combat but talking like they were chilling at someone's house. Would've been more immersive if there was straining in their voice to time with their swings/kicks but not sure if it was purposely done to make it easier to hear the lines. 2. I hate they carried from the 1st movie with the music. The volume will be fine with scenes where they're talking then it switches to a transition scene with music blaring at what seems to be 2-3x volume the conversational pieces. Was annoying at home, even more annoying at theatres where you can't adjust volume.
I felt the same way after leaving the theatre! They were setting so much up but not a lot of it was actually resolved, that was the one thing in this movie that actually bothered me. Everything else was astounding, I just felt as though Across the Spiderverse doesn’t work as well as a stand alone film.
8:50 I think the way it ended is also a Meta Commentary "Nah, I'mma do my own thing" They're breaking the norms , Miles and Spiderverse are doing it there way because no one can tell them how their movie should go. As per watch?v=AdaDtrcN3-4 It also make sense with the world we are in now with how easy it is to access and enjoy media, and with how popular Into and Across was, Theaters have a chance on the release on Beyond to rerun both Prequels (I really hope they do). Change the game, change the way execs and corpos get thier money, allow more develop time and reap the rewards on multi runs of the movie. If they don't take that from this its just stupid fail on ceo/exec part.
One problem is an understatement.. This movie has a hundred problems and like a billion plot holes and thats coming from the Canon events alone
I think the reason why most people loved the movie but found the ending annoying is because the fact that it's a 2-parter was not nearly as explicitly advertised. I was aware of it during the movie, so I was dreading the ending to drop any moment. Really, during the last 25 minutes, the movie ends like 5 times, with the swelling of the music, the zoom in on the faces and so on. Each time I felt like "No! Don't end it here!" and so when it did end, I heaved a sigh of relief that it had a satisfying ending for a Part I movie. They really have all the pieces ready to throw us directly into Part II, with the climax montage setting up cliffhangers as well as feelings of hope across multiple universes. It felt like the writers were setting up the chess board so that the actual game can start in Part II.
My issue with cliffhangers is that, in my opinion, they are supposed to make you WANT to continue watching and not FORCE you to continue. Giving the viewer at least some satisfaction and answering some questions, the "appetizers" for your interest and engagement. A good cliffhanger is the one that could allow you to quit watching and still have some semblance of a complete story in mind. A bad cliffhanger doesn't even allow for the story to fully form. The cliffhanger in this movie unfortunately felt like a bad one to me. It didn't explain or answer any of the questions I developed while watching it and was so excited to learn the answers to, it didn't leave a trail of breadcrumbs to maybe theorize about those answers myself, it just cut off. I agree with you, it DID feel like the people working on it just had to cut it short at some point due to lack of time, but at this point with how continuous and intertwined the story is you'd think it would be easier for them to just make it a short series instead of a two-part movie.
A good analogy for the ending: imagine Infinity War but the movie ends when Thor appears on Earth with his ax
I guess you got a point. The cliffhanger they left off on would work better if it was for an episode of a show rather than for a movie
You put what my thoughts were into this video
one of my family members screamed "NOOOOOOOOOO" when it said to be continued
The world building in this movie is a complete disaster

How??
This movie had an ending, it began with Gwen and ended with Gwen :)
Bro I saw this movie when I was 14 too and I loved it so much, I still like the film a lot(I mean the first move spider man into the spider verse, I have yet to see the sequel)
If they were allowed to release a film that was 4-5 hours long to tell a complete story I bet they would have.
Across the spiderverse being 9.5 (even when half of the story is missing) shows how perfect the movie is
I think something should be said about how disappointed you sounded giving it a 9.5, really amusing as I was also sad to have graded it similarly even though objectively that is an AMAZING grade!
my only problem is that it felt too much like it was just setting up the 3rd since there was no real climax... but Spot was expectional, I loved Cardboard Vulture's design, 2099 was a unique take, and Spider-Punk is the most over-the-top stereotypical Londoner ever!
Tbf, ive noticed i haven't see. A movie with a cliffhanger fr years now I honestly am hyped for the next movie even more since all i can think about is what comes next
The criticism: he wanted more... That's not a criticism, that's praising with style
I loved it, but knew as soon as I was done watching it that it wasn't that strong of a film. It lacks a central conflict and there isn't really a climax.
Out of topic, but I still can’t stop thinking about his Chikn Nuggit April fools video where he sounds unhinged. Ever since then, his views has went down, which is a shame since this guy has interesting views of media.
I feel like people forgot how cliff hangers work.
The cliff hanger doesn't really bother me but I can see why it did for alot of people, this was honestly a W video
I feel the same way on almost every point. I just can't wait until the 3rd film releases so that this criticism becomes irrelevant, as the optimal viewing experience will simply become watching them back-to-back.
There is literally no problem leaving a cliff hanger. If they only just stablish a "status quo" at the end, like in the first movie, so that way it doesn't feel rushed.
I'm going to be honest. I didn't like this movie. - The whole movie can't stand on its own. It's a rehash/explainer of the previous one and a setup for the sequel. - I don't like the new characters. If you have to say somebody is ''cool'' it automatically makes them less cool. - I hate the dialogue. In the original, I could tolerate it but in this movie, it's so obnoxious. It's what I like to call Tumblr/Twitter speak. They just keep trying to be ''funny'', ''relatable'' and ''self-aware'' and it just doesn't work for me. You have some funny meme material but it totally kills whatever stakes there are in the movie. - The whole ''canon event'' feels like it's supposed to be a dig at people who care about it and the lesson in the second movie will be ''fu*k canon, we can do what we want''. Which is so stupid! And because everything is predetermined and some people just have to die it takes away from the tragedy, responsibility, and consequences of the choices Spider-people make. And of course, the logical and moral thing to do is let one person die than let an entire universe collapse. It makes Miles so selfish and irresponsible. And if the next movie shows a way you can save people without universes breaking it means Spider Society let God knows how many people die for no reason. If not for the animation this movie wouldn't be as liked.

I also think that the movie's humor felt like it was trying too hard at times. There are times where felt like the writers were just cramming in joke after joke without letting any of them breath.
ill be honest and say that this film, while feeling like a part 1, still feels like a complete movie. miles' story may not be finished but gwen's feels story felt like it had a very satisfying end to it and with her coming around to being able to trust the people around her again and not being closed off by "getting the band back together." miles arc also feels complete but still feels like there will be room for growth. miles starts off by everyone telling him his own story when he realizes that he needs to create it for himself, leaving for a satisfying arc for this particular movie. i imagine in the next movie, he will need to come to terms with something which stems off this part like him having to learn that the things that happen in your life is what makes you unique, like all the other spidermen.
I felt the same way about where the movie ended. I loved the movie and can't wait for the next one!! but the ending felt abrupt, it left me confused after I left the theater. I can injoy a good cliffhanger I just think the way this one was done didn't help the audience feel satisfied. My sister was really unset about this too, since she will be leaving the country soon and won't be able to see the next movie when it comes out. This was to be her last big movie before leaving and she doesn't even get to know how the story ends!
The one issue I have for it, just in general When’s Miguel going to say shock? That’s the way they censored him swearing, but it’s now just something he does.
