    I'm curious. Why on earth did you use such massive threaded rod? That had to be really expensive. Also, I love the idea of using plasti-dip to treat the ends. Great job!

    haha, I could probably have gone with smaller rods, but the top is quite heavy so I didn't want it to wobble too much and it really wasn't much more money that 1/2 or 5/8 rods.

    it's called a floor pipe flange, usually found in hardware store
