Almost exactly a year ago, "Wichita Lineman" was the very first video of my favorite songs series, which I shot myself for my KZread channel. I think the song is so great that I chose it first. Thank you, I am very happy! 😀 "Wichita Lineman" was my very first video of my "A Couple If Songs" series in January of this year and I had practiced the song especially for this video because I didn't have a Glen Campbell song in my repertoire before. 🤗 The quality of my videos has improved quite a bit over the months, although I still only record the videos with my iPhone. I would be very happy if you watch my complete "Witchita Lineman" video and give me feedback! 😃🤓 I played the whole song in one take, also using my Boss RC-1 Loop Station. Hey Ted, I'm very happy to answer your question! 😀 Over the years, hundreds of different songs have accumulated in my repertoire, which I now want to publish as a video here on KZread week after week. But when I started my video series, I thought about taking a (for me) completely new song. And since Glen Campbell only became one of my absolute favorites in the last 3-4 years and I haven't had a song by him in my repertoire yet, I decided on a Glen Campbell song. After some trial and error, I then decided on "Wichita Lineman", rehearsed for 2-3 days, learned the lyrics, set up my equipment, set up the iPhone camera and then recorded a total of at least 20 takes until I was satisfied and the video have uploaded. In addition, the simultaneous live looping was an additional major challenge? That was sooooo much work... and still is! 😅 Since then I've played the song again and again in my live program and I think now I play and sing it even better than when I recorded it on video! But of course I have to say that the song is more difficult than easy! There are many and beautiful harmony changes and vocally you also need a certain range! But of course I also love it when songs not only consist of three major chords and have a unique, catchy and unmistakable melody! I also find Glen Campell incredibly great and fascinating as a guitarist and especially as a singer! 🤩 I can't believe what a great voice and huge vocal range Glen Campbell had! I can't keep up with that, but that's not my point! I enjoy making music again and again, I'm proud of what I can do and... I can practice even more! 😄 I already have other songs by him on my wish list for one of the next videos... let's see! 🤗 All the best! Andreas

And since I had (unfortunately) only been a Glen Campbell fan for 3-4 years, I thought a song by him as my first video would be a cool thing. So I picked "Wichita Lineman" and spent a few days rehearsing the song. Then I came up with the live looping thing to play the guitar solo on and then I recorded the song in one go. I only recorded with my iPhone and the sound comes from my normal live setup... including amp, pedalboard, etc. 🤓 Well and now... a year later I've already arrived at Video No.54, because every week I make a new video from my repertoire or even completely new songs as a video. I really enjoy it, although it's a lot of work. 😅 I would be happy if you would take a look and give me feedback again; That would be great! 😃 Musical greeting from Andreas 🙋🏽‍♂️

Hey... thank you so much!!! That thought sounds great... and it would be an absolute dream too! ;) What a great voice he had and such an amazing guitarist too! And I also think he was a super nice guy! I only discovered him 4-5 years ago (for me), although I've been leading my life as a musician for 30 years. Of course I've known (felt) forever some of his biggest hits, but I only really got to know and appreciate everything else after his death. It's nice that something like KZread exists, I've been able to look at hundreds of Glen's old videos and I've become more and more enthusiastic about him. That's exactly why I chose "Wichita Lineman" for my very first self-made video for my KZread series "A Couple Of Songs I Wish I Had Written Myself"; that was in January last year. Hey... thanks for your comment! You're partly right about the reverb. The main reason is that I record my videos with my live setup (amp, pedalboard, etc.) and film the videos in a very minimalist way with just my iPhone. The iPhone still has a small "Shure MV-88" stereo microphone, but I just record everything with the camera app. Therefore, not only the reverb from my amp, but also the reverb in the room can be heard on the recordings. Also, "Wichita Lineman" was my very first self-recorded video last year in mid-January; I didn't have that much experience and routine with it. I even chose "Wichita Lineman" from scratch especially for this first video and played it for the first time ever. And of course I followed Glen Campbell's original, which also has a lot of reverberation. In this respect, it is of course also a little bit of a matter of taste. In the meantime, this coming Sunday I'll be releasing my 55th full video... not counting the shorts... and technically I'm also working on getting better and better.
