ACO Underground performing Excerpt From Electric Counterpoint By Steve Reich Feat. Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) at The Standard, Sydney on December 2, 2012.
Electro-acoustic collective ACO Underground is joined by specially curated guests (including a surprise appearance by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood) in a one-night-only performance at New York loft-style music venue, The Standard.
Founder, curator and front-woman Satu Vänskä put together a set list including a German cabaret number made famous by Marlene Dietrich, a new version of Nirvana's Milk It, works for string quartet by Paganini and Crumb, and much more.
ACO Underground's eclectic, genre-bending performances are like a history of music set to 'shuffle', featuring musicians from "badass classical band" (TimeOut New York) the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Jonny is almost 50 years old, yet he still looks like a 20 year old teen boi
4:11 that moment is beautiful
2:36 There actually isn't any bass player playing there.. That's Jonny using his Power Stare to make us INDIVIDUALLY hear a bass in our heads..

That's not the register of a bass anyway, guitars are perfectly capable of playing those notes.

It’s prerecorded on his laptop. Just a pedal to activate and it’s on the loop sequence.

Jonny finally looks 25!
Possibly one of our favourite moments of filming. Ever.
2:37 "Don't you fucking touch that. I'm watching you."
He still looks like 25
i fucking love jonny greenwood. as an avid fan of radiohead for around 15 years, i can say with confidence that jonny is my favorite member.
This is what happens when you combine a mad scientist with an indie kid
He should speak with Robert Fripp

Maybe the rest was meant to be on the next Radiohead's album or something. By the way, that second song he played was beautiful. Does it have a name?

" 'til I die" he is a static character.
I just realized, maybe greenwood does alot more than i thought for radiohead. I could listen to just him jammin like that for hours.

anon ymous wow. There's any need to be that agressive?
Half of the visual information processed by Jonny's brain is related to his hair.
Oh my godness, I falling in love
shit, how did I miss this? This is amazing. dammit, Jonny, you beautiful creature.
Jonny doesn't age
I never heard this guy before, i just knew that he played or play i dunno for radiohead( im not a big fan of them), but WOW i just love his style, he plays that guitar so good, it is just hypnotic.

well watch the whole piece, it has like 15 minutes
Everything I love about this man's music seems somehow encapsulated in him taking his instruments from the stage. It's the same thing I love in Prince. Given nothing more than a broken elastic band and Greek yoghurt, they'd both find a way to make music. It's not about the instrument.
Get Johnny Jonny and John into a room, and imagine the beauty of what it could be.
That's okay guys, it's just one of the Gods of music up on stage.
hypnotic
Reminds me King Crimson. Love It.!
absolutely amazing.
Yea, it's an another telecaster. It was purchased and modified in 1996 or 1997, after his original Tele was stolen in October 1995. Jonny brings this guitar on every tour as it’s his backup. He uses it very rarely on live shows.
would you PLEASE release the whole performance!!!! that this is an excerpt is absolutely criminal!
wow.. speechless to be honest.
johnny's guitar loops at the beginning are incredible! not easy to perform that with a looper trust me. hes been doing this longer than any 90s kid has even been breathing. where is your respect?

Que increíble sería un disco entre éste muchacho, Frusciante y Omar Rodriguez!

This is godlike
absolutely amazing :)
inspiring
I agree, Jonny Greenwood and Russell Lissack are awesome!! :D
Sublime.
This reminded me of John's Frusciante's Sphere, but with a guitar instead of synthetiser.

Woah. Wow.
Oh how I love thee
This is actually pretty true to what Reich was thinking with this piece. It takes a lot of discipline to play this thing as it's a lot more intricate than some people here are suggesting. Hell, if you want pop music go listen to the Monkees….

Well, Jonny is a genius that has found a balance between pop music and more complex and experimental stuff Just a few people have been capable of doing such thing
Jhonny STILL looks 25
Please post more!!

Dope
He should speak to Robert fripp Someone said this already but he rally should Fripp is an amazing guitarist. His contribution in king crimson is immaculate
Woah, he is so good, he could play the notes even when his hands were either on his head wiping off sweat, scratching his neck, or just off the guitar! -.-
OOOOHH that would be cool
I wish it didn't stop.
wow
It most certainly is
post the whole thing please!
what a god
Without meaning anything bad about Radiohead: so much beyond it!
I did a little research actually and apparently it's quite old (probably purchased by Jonny in in about '96/'97) but is rarely used. He brings it with him on all tours and live performances and is only really used as a backup.
WEDNESDAY TIL I DIE

Ahh, the good ol bumblebee Tele! Long time no see
: A Music Leyend. So Intense...
Jonny Greenwood, John Frusciante and who else?
2nd part reminds me of In Bloom once it gets going

can we please have the whole thing? this is stunning.......
Jonny is the best i think, radiohead is always be the one too....
Johnny Marr!
Radiohead deberia permitir que jonny haga esto en un album de estudio!
You misspelled sexy.
An extremely talented musician.
dat damn looper action...I'm jealous
2:40. He actually looks kind of creepy here. Look at his eyes looking at the camera behind his hair. It's awesome.
Fucking genius.
Профессионал своего дела!
God
Are people criticising the guitarist or the composer? I hope it's the former because Steve Reich is one of the most important people in minimalism and to an extent 20th century classical music.
@matthewthomasjennings9706

Dominic London Either way, they're just plainly wrong. Steve Reich is one of the seminal composers of the past 100 years, and Jonny Greenwood is one of the most inventive guitarists in one of the greatest bands of all time.

Yep, I was surprised by it too. It´s definitly not his old strato. Same model with different transfers and modified with a kaoss pad.
