Lord Alton of Liverpool raised the issue of Christian persecution, including the 2022 Pentecost Sunday massacre at St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church in Owo, Nigeria and how the perpetrators are still at large. He highlighted that similar incidents continue to plague Nigeria, as we saw over Christmas 2023 when 200 people were killed in predominantly Christian villages in Plateau State in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
