    Hello! Please try calf stretch and achilies tendon stretches. He might be toewalking due to tightness in the calf and Achilles’ tendon, (I used to do the same) I tried to do the stretches twice a day, and in 3 weeks the tightness was basically gone.

    I was 16 when I woke up one day with dystonia, which is a neurological condition that causes the muscle in my body to tense up and not be able to relax. Before that I was incredibly athletic, I did boxing, fencing, and rowing as sports My Dystonia was the worst in my thighs and the flexing pulled against my achilles forcing me to walk on my toes. Within a year and a half my achilles had shrunk to the point I walked like this kid, in fact it got so bad my left foot dislocated itself. The exhaustion and pain I felt everyday was infuriating This surgery was a massive boon for myself and would recommend it to anyone who does toe walk

    Hello Please help. Im from iraq, my 3 years old son is having right feet tip toe. We meet with more than 10 different doctors, here are three advices from them: 1. Doing physical therapy for three months (we did it 1.5 month and see no effect). 2. Doing surgery. But some of them said the surgery may not effect and the child gonna walk on his toes again, or he will not be able to walk normally. 3. Doing the surgery at age 8 years or older. We are very confused and don’t know what to do, and the case getting worse day after day. Thanks for helping 🙏🏻

    Is the pain in your feet somewhere in the back and it feels tight? if so, I used to have the same feeling when I put my feet flat, but I did calf and achiles tendon stretches twice a day, and the tightness was basically GONE. Please try this.

    Thank you for your comment. At his age it is likely your child may have an underlying neurological spastic equinus. In my clinic I would utilize an AFO. (Ankle Foot Orthosis). Please have your child evaluated by a medical professional to assist you in addressing this concern. - Dr. Jarman

    Are you able to walk with a heel/toe gait at all? Possibly a nightbrace could help however if you cannot get heels down at all, other options may be available through a podiatry or orthopedic clinic. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching our video and sharing your experience.

    I had this surgery when I was 12 and I was wondering what the condition is called when the achillies tendon isn't able to grow properly?

  • @PediatricFootAnkle

    @PediatricFootAnkle

    Жыл бұрын

    There is no condition specifically where the tendon doesn't grow/lengthen properly. There is a condition which restricts the achilles from lengthening properly, called a low lying soleus or accessory soleus muscle. I see this in 9 out of 10 children that require surgery for toe walking. This anatomical variation must be removed at the time the achilles is lengthened or it could lead to a regression or loss of correction as the child continues to grow. I hope this helps. -Dr. Jarman

    Thank you for watching our video. While the procedure is standard, your child's doctor should be answering these questions for you. Yes, after the recovery period your child should be able to walk with a conventional heel/toe gait.

    You lot have to know that toe / forefoot walking is a muscularly engaged walking technique. Its the same technique YOU ALL use to walk down stairs, push objects, skip rope / jump and land down, run sideways, how every sprinter runs, and many long distance runners run this way too. It is not a disorder! Otherwise why would doctors not stop those movements being done forefoot? But only going after walkers, yet the higher level more extreme movements are okay? Thats obviously silly and backwards thinking. Heel striking is a muscle disengaged, skeleton and joint abusing technique. Where you basically balance on your skeleton, using your muscles just to maintain upright balance rather than actually bearing the load and holding you up. We know the correct function of the ankle joint is as a point of leverage, this is undisputable facts. Hitting the ankle on the floor in a heel strike is the actual disorder. Just like it would be a disorder to heel strike, walking down stairs, pushing objects, running sideways, sprinting etc
