a 50 and a 30 degree split is normal for dh set ups, but when you have a large split like that the rear bushings need to be a much harder duro. Not sure if they used the same or diff duro bushings for each truck, may be an oversight on their part. Also tightening bushings does not solve this, only krank riptides work in that way fyi

Nomad stock is 37/53 on TKP. My feeling is it’s overly twitchy above 27mph. Now those same angles on an RKP dh setup might feel just fine. But a little tuning and you can get it to feel pretty dang good.

I totally believe you that you have issues with stability on this board, but I really don't think it has anything to do with the rear. if anything, it means that if it wasn't for the rear angle it would be worse. A negative angle, -8, or - 12° on the Landyatchz Evo, a famous downhill longboard, means a LOT of stability gain, since the range of motion of the truck at the rear is a lot more closed. Making the rear angle lower 100% removed some stability. Your board definitely looks more stable on the second ride, but that is mostly due to the front angle change, and I am sure some better tightening of the bushings.

I agree on your angle formula 100% I actually ride a little lower in the rear than what your dewedger did. I also ride with just a little lower in the front as well. I have a completely different ride im comparing to as you know. But what your explaing can and needs to be utilized on all boards to get the performance you need or want. So great points made and stuff only a real rider would know. I'm surprised you haven't changed the bushings out yet lol. Great review bro!

⚡ *I like 50 deg max at front,* anythin more and I don't like how it rides, even if the back is 45 or under ⚡ 50/45 or 50/40 is good! With harder bushings in the back to account for the extra leverage. Love de-wedgin, I'm plannin to try it on top mounted DKP, with shorter wheelbase like a Stoke.

I like a even lower rear as long as the front is carvy enough depending on the use case of the board. The 40/50 of the x3 feels great for instance though. I’m also finding it interesting feeling the difference TKP is on wedges compared to RKP. TKP is already a quicker truck and wedging it makes it even faster to turn in. I’ll be following this up with a video just trying bushings.

@@ELECTRIC-DNA when you de-wedge, it is a good idea to use harder bushings, More leverage from more lean mskin it easier to turn. Smart choice de-wedgin front and back!

So I got my first few runs with my board. 17 miles first day. It does need some tweaking. But I did notice that on the ACEDECK website, they no longer offer the option of DKP trucks on the Nomad. I wonder if they decided it wasn't stable enough and now only offer the TKP. Well I got the TKP, I thought i ordered the DKP. 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@ELECTRIC-DNA you are correct on the no DKP, i was researching the Meepo Hurricane before i purchased the Nomad, and mixed that part up. I did also switch up the bushings like you did. (and balanced my tires) With the stiffer in the rear and softer in the front. It feels fine, but not sure if it's completely dialed in for my riding style. What bushings would you recommend for another option? Brands i'm asking, I know my weight will play a factor in the duro. Thanks

Everyone has their preferences. But de-wedging the board, is just negating the design of the deck. I purchased this E-board (arriving tomorrow), because it is similar to my Landyatchz Evo. Which has a similar drop down split angle design. I've been riding this board for 4 years now, and love the feel of control in the rear, while still being carveable in the front. Speaking on this Nomad, seems you panicked. You clearly let the split angle get in your head, and "modified" them out of the design. For that, then just get a regular longboard design. Take the wedges off, and adjust the bushings, and ride the board for what the board is... but... to each their own...

  • @ELECTRIC-DNA

Maybe it’s just me, time will tell if others feel similar. RKP on split angle like the Evo vs TKP at these angles is a good amount different. Bushings next, we’ll see.

@@ELECTRIC-DNA really all I'm saying, is you should have done the bushings first. But I will agree, the DKP will feel different than the TKP, but, still. Bushings first. You took away what was supposed to make the Nomad different, to make it feel like the others.

Did you even try messing with bushings/washers before changing the angles?

  • @ELECTRIC-DNA

Not yet no. The reaction of the trucks felt more due to angles than bushings for me. But playing with bushings could help the cause as well. Had the risers already anyways so tossed them on.

Going straight to undoing the angles is backwards. They’re there for a reason and will provide stability. But stock bushings will almost never get you there. Especially with the weight of these boards added into the equation. Always change bushings washers right away to your weight and preference on washers. Otherwise you can’t even really tell what’s going on to be changing the angles. Your wobble feeling was def more to do with the stock bushings and not the angles. I’m positive. Angles won’t help at all when it comes to a board that’s not set up correctly for the rider. Bushings/washers are prob more important than changing angles at the end of the day (for esk8).

@@Poin2fivE bushings are 100a /96a, so pretty dang stiff that should handle wobbles. I’ve never ridden such high angles on TKP and in my opinion this is what caused those wobbles for me. Night and day difference when dewedging also. For me I’ve always found angles to be a better way to steady a board. But different ways to skin a cat. 🤙

@@ELECTRIC-DNAbushing shapes/sizes/formulas all play a huge factor. Stock generic 100a bushings will not all test/ride the same. And you’re right there are diff ways to get somewhere but there’s also a formula to these things and you never go straight to changing angles. Ever, save for DH riders under THOSE conditions (no brakes). You always start with a good (theoretical) setup first and work from there with diff bushings/washers. Then you might go to playing with angles. I tell you this so you don’t get a false sense of security from certain changes. That can be very dangerous (to viewers too). Also to help other esk8 members know what to do. Bushings/washers are everything. And it’s not just the number that matters. You have some sick boards dude! If I were you I would check out downhill254 channel. DH rider who does very thorough explanations on board parts and features. Very important info to know!

Don't understand the point of using bamboo and other materials for the deck. If Acedeck wanted it so stiff, why not just stick with carbon fiber, at least save some weight. It is as heavy as a NYX Z1 Street😅. They still can do the split angles with carbon fiber.
