Exactly. I bought a monocular to use with my Catapult V6. Tripod too. I got alleys where I'm at on the border of Mexico in El Paso. I can see straight down a mile or better of smuggling. Too far away to make out with naked eye. Would LOVE to get this AceBeam. Soon, hopefully. Then I'll have to upgrade to a telescope.

It is awesome, I felt like a little kid. also there is a couple flashlights that can out throw this, but pound for pound this light is the best. This light 2.4km throw @ 500lm $260 which is still smaller than an average flashlight is out thrown by: 1) BLF GTvn (two different specs) spec1) 2.4km throw @ 4500lm $700 spec2) 2.8km throw@ 5500lm) $1400 2) Lemax LX70 superpower (must contact manufacturer to buy. It is a non LED light) 70W mode 7500lm 4km* throw, 50W mode 5400lm 3km* throw $2500 both lights are huge *claimed by manufacturer but not tested by public

I can't believe this. Never heard of LEP before. Just yesterday night I was watching flashlight videos trying to find a good new torch for work... and later, when I was going to sleep, I thought to myself. "I wonder if it was possible to somehow combine different color laser and emit it in a wide but still consistent beam...or maybe shine the laser like the cathode ray tube TV does with electrons bashing on to a phosphor screen or something... hmm?" Well, this isn't the first time I think of something and later learn that it already exists.

As a laser safety officer, I can tell you that if rated correctly, a class 2m laser is perfectly legal for you to own. As you stated, do not shine it in peoples eyes but if you do accidentally, your blink reaction is less then 1/4 of a second which is quick enough to not harm the eye.

You are correct, I just verified this with a spectrometer. Laser leakage is in excess of 5mW, which us probably where the class 3B rating comes from. All things considered that's really not much considering the pump diode outputs 12 watts... but still, be careful.

  • @betterbsure

Whilst this is a tremendous light for a fun factor, as a useful light probably not so. Close-up use the beam is too small and the spot too bright so washes out any detail that you are looking at, distance use the object that you are looking at would be too far away so same problem. I think this would be great for signalling to someone your position if stranded either at sea or in the wilderness so that you could get assistance if needed, but WOW...what a fun light to play with. A responsible head is perhaps needed when handling such an extreme beam, just the same as with a high powered laser. So would I personally want one? HELL YEAH!!! :))

Not for $250... its classified as a class 3 laser lmfao. If they made a diffuser cap and slimmer profile then i would probably buy this. I really hate flashlights with a massive head and slim body, they might as well have just put 26650s in or six 18650s. The throw is amazing but i dont like the design, if they could somehow make it thinner and changed the lame battery then i would buy it for $300

Investment Alert! Investment Alert! These lights are going for 600 to 800 on Ebay now. I just looked. You have done such a straight forward review with plenty of see for yourself unbelievable comments about your reactions as you experienced them.. I could tell you were just as excited to have us share the WOW factor with you. Your regulation warnings and the cautions were helpful also. All just cementing the thought into our minds. I have to get this light while I still can. I want to get that "high" you had as you went along discovering test after test that kept building the excitement. I did buy it while your video was playing out.and can't wait to try it out. Reminds me of when I was shopping in the Base Exchange at Lackland AFB when they announced on the overhead speakers, "Just in Boot Camp Barbies, get over to toyland to get yours before they are gone! I bought 3 or 4 cases of them for less than 15 dollars per each. I sold all of them on Ebay quickly for 80 to 120 dollars using the auction choice. Lackland is the only Air Force Basic Training Base in the US. Thru the plastic window on the box you could see her in all her gear jump-stepping across two rows of tires on the ground. Decked out in Camo Fatigues and Combat boots every Barbie collector had to have one! I was more than happy to let them get their hands on one or more. I think anyone that buys one of these W30s and changes their mind can sell it quick if they want to at least get their money back mabe more even if you take it out of the box. Who here that gets one of these at MSRP is not going to show it off to people before they sell it or gift it. Uses for the average Joe flashlight?....me.......not so much. Bragging rights letting that guy who is always one upping you on flashlights feel the highest beam burn instead of you.........Priceless. I just thought of this..............there are not as many people out there in Ebay land that want this light or can afford the price I quoted they are going for on Ebay. Just the retail price is alot. Barbies that double or triple in price or more are more affordable to most anybody and the expensive lights are not.

Crazy unique! Waiting on mine to show up, very curious if a white diffuser on it with 1.4 million candella will be a CRAZY amount of flood..l put a white diffuser on my Acebeam K70 and it makes it such a versatile flashlight..just big.. big light..big beam.. great all around..l don't know if being only 500 lumen if the diffuser will kill it's brightness through a legit diffuser.. can't wait to find out the hard way! I am curious as well as to how much eye damage this will actually do for self defense purposes at 5-10' , my wife walks the dogs at night and ld rather see her use this than the 9mm for defense if it is actually capable of immobilizing an attacker. I can not find any solid information on this particular light. What would a 2500 lumen LEP light be like? 6000m throw?? Crazy tech! Love your vids!

Until then,I tried to the white walls and the ceiling, but I saw that besides the small-intense center beam spot, there is a large orange corona around this, something that I don’t see in the photographs of the reviewer and I don’t like. What do you think? Also,I tried to use a 18650 battery, putting it in the supplied cylindrical case, but it is not working.I see that the new battery length,is less than the one of the 21700 battery. So,what can I do please?

My concern with a flashlight like this is the life span of the emitter. Typical laser diodes don't last nearly as long as LED's. I believe that the lifespan on an average LED is 50,000 ish hours, and then the lifespan of a typical laser diode is like 2,000-3000 ish hours. But again, I am speaking on the behalf of the normal behavior of laser diodes. Hopefully acebeam has developed oj that has a longer lifespan. Just some points to ponder

LEPs are more durable since they rest on actual MCPCBs that actually take the heat away for the laser to the light. That means LEP are much more durable than normal laser diodes.

Cool light, but I'll stick with my TN42vn with CFT90. A little less throw, but 5,000 more lumens.

  • @jkg6211

Lumens mean little for a thrower - it's candela that's important for a thrower, and lumens for a flood. Lumen is a measurement of the TOTAL light output (including "spillage" outside/around the central beam), whereas candela is a measurement of the light in a given spot, i.e. - the center of the beam at a given distance.

scannerguy1968 that’s unexpected, pretty insane actually. I’m assuming the light waves are in phase to get such a focused beam? It essentially looks like a wide laser. ...sunlight- even on slightly overcast days- will produce a flame with a magnifying glass.

I read that blue is the last absorbed color so I went with the 6500k tint version. I feel no one is testing the 4000k tint or the CRI one.

I’ve had this thing for more than 1 year now: listen it’s completely useless for practical application! If you walk around inside in the dark and need to see anything, shine it on the ceiling and the reflection will light the room. But point it at an object and expect to see anything? Not for like 20 minutes after you’ve been sun lighted. BUT! As self defense, visual communication or if you are lost or in danger in the woods or on the water, you will get their attention! 100%! Some real world examples of how I’ve used this light are: I have stood on my balcony (10th floor) and LIT UP some clown walking down the street and checking for unlocked car doors. Across the street is a park that goes downhill and empties to another street, I kept this fool LIT for the entire 230 or so meters until he turned a corner. I have “painted” animals and obstructions on the highway for other drivers to see and avoid. PEOPLE notice and react to this alert. I have used it to slow and direct traffic on a highway after two people crashed. When he arrived, highway cop asked where he could get a light like that! (Handheld and POWERFUL) It WILL disorient an assailant or animal, I have lit an aggressive animal in complete dark. It couldn’t look at the light directly (kept closing its eyes or turning its head) and I backed off and safely retreated. Also, I don’t recommend this but high beam opposing traffic WILL INSTANTLY flip to low beam once you light up the INSIDE of their rig from a AMAZINGLY RIDICULOUS distance! DO NOT, I mean NEVER, shine this thing in the sky, the FAA WILL get a complaint! 200%!!! Only con I have is periodically the “on” button in the tail doesn’t work, I unscrew and retighten it and it works again. (Like 6 times since I’ve owned it) and it does heat up if you use it for a while, not terribly hot, but it does heat up. In short it’s ONE HELL OF A TOOL and worth every penny!
