I've recently accepted an offer from KPMG to join them on their Audit apprenticeship programme! I wanted to thank you for producing your content -- it's truly insightful and motivational, and I was able to leverage so many of my learnings during my recruitment process to demonstrate my understanding and passion. I can't wait to build my Big 4 career and open up a world of opportunity both during my apprenticeship and again upon qualification.

Hi James, I had my assessment centre a couple of weeks ago and the group work was so difficult because 2 of my team members hardly wanted to communicate and ignored one another. I was constantly trying to get them to make a contribution. We ran out of time because one of them insisted in making the presentation, and we hardly had any time to improvise as a result (despite the fact that I was very conscious about time). By the end, we went through with the 20 minute presentation without having had improvised, and managed to do it. But, there were a few awkward moments with taking turns to speak. I made sure to clarify the task with my members and checked with them before I added points. I am nervous about whether the quality of the actual presentation will matter (all the information was there and we managed to analyse well). Honestly, I struggled with the team members. I tried to include them in everything, but they were so keen to work independently. One of them didn’t even bother passing me the case study papers, as he was busy scanning through them himself. I was very frustrated, but couldn’t say much. I didn’t want to be too assertive. I also think that I did terrible at the excel test. That has to be my only failing. Will this impact my outcome, do you reckon? I thought that the interview and everything else went well..

@@PapaSeed strangely, I got good feedback from the assessment centre and was very confident, but they sent an email to say that they don’t usually do this, but would like a final interview to ‘make sure this career opportunity aligns with my current interests and future career plans’. That lasted 5 minutes and unfortunately they decided to go for someone else. I think my biggest failing was to not mention the accountancy qualifications that we would be taking (whereas the other candidates had shown their interest in the ACCA qualifications). So I think it was between me or another person, and I didn’t get it.

I have my assessment centre in 3 days. Would you say they are less likely to want you if you stutter. I don’t have a stutter but when nervous tend to struggle to say words. Think I can do all the points said in the video just may go umm some of the time. Although I will try to stop this as much as I can by knowing what I want to say before saying it
