When Ace starts singing "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" while he's driving, that was improvised. Jim forgot his lines and just started singing instead, and they used it in the movie.

@@craigjohnson9405 Honestly, it's a wonder anyone can keep it together when Jim is given free rein to improvise. During this time, you'd just let Jim go wild and see what kind of crazy stuff he'd come up with out of nowhere. It must've been so tough for everyone else in the scene to keep themselves from breaking.

@@weaponsofwarfare9537 Between 1960 and 2018, there were all of 89 human cases of rabies acquired in the US. Between 2018 and 2021, there was 1. While caution should always be taken around wild animals and direct handling of them and their bodily fluids should be avoided, both for your health and theirs, I'd suggest directing your concern to more prevalent diseases. The fear of bats in the West has far more to do with supernatural associations than any rational considerations. Bats are no more likely to carry zoonotic (ie human-transmissible) viruses than rodents or primates, and, given the large role bats play in controlling the population of disease-spreading insects, they are generally more of a boon to humanity than a danger in that respect, and that's without considering their substantial role in pollination and seed-spreading. As is unfortunately usual, humans are far more of a danger to bats than vice-versa. There's the regular threats of habitat destruction and direct/indirect slaughter, but there's also the new threat of white-nose fungus, which is largely spread by humans from bat colony to bat colony and has a mortality rate of 90-100%. Not at all unlikely that there won't be any bats in North America in the near future, and nothing says the disease won't spread further. Mosquitoes and their many and spreading human-transmissible diseases will rejoice, I'm sure.

That racoon scene was one of the scenes from Cliff Hanger where Sylvester Stallone loses the person he is trying to save and he decides to retire
5:13 This was a parody of the beginning of the Sylvester Stallone movie Cliffhanger, which came out two years earlier in 1993. Needless to say it wasn't a racoon that got dropped in the original version of that scene. The joke is kind of lost if people haven't seen that movie. Especially since it was so fresh in the minds of much of the audience when this movie came out.
My favorite line in the entire film is right at the beginning. "Yeah? Well if you were me, then I'd be you! And I'd use YOUR body to get to the top. You can't stop me no matter WHO you are!" cracks me up every time.

The opening scene in the mountains with the racoon is a reference to "Cliffhanger" with Sly Stallone.
yeah, the second one is definitely better than the first, it improves on it so much. Was disappointed we never saw the monopoly guy, guess that bit was kept for the Patrons. And did u notice the disappearing pieces on the chess board when Ace is explaining the bad guys plan to him? There 1 second, gone the next.
Seeing the implication of Ventura being in the water with hippos reminds me that I would not want to be anywhere near such a creature. They are the deadliest creature in Africa to humans. They're shockingly fast (30 km/h on land, comparable to a motorboat in water, a craft which they also will not hesitate to attack), aggressively territorial, have skin so thick that lions can't pierce it (they were considered bulletproof until weaponry improved sufficiently around the turn of the century), and those tusks are razor sharp. Everything in Africa makes way for hippos. Even crocs know better, as the ones that don't end up mashed. Hippos also like to come on land near river-banks at night to forage. Accidentally getting between a hippo and the water tends to be the last thing a person does.
I remember laughing so hard watching this as a kid, I could not breath XD
And thus we conclude Carry's greatest comedies. His serious movies are also great, the Truman Show is a must!

This is one of the few instances that the sequel is better than the first one.
Jim Carrey hated the part of Ace having fear for bats because he thought it didn't make sense for the character since he is an animal lover & he wanted it to be changed so that Ace was allergic to bats instead. And to be honest, that actually makes much more sense. Carrey didn't want to do this movie but he had to because of contract. Carrey was one of those actors who never wants to do a sequel and repeat the same role, and I said WAS because many years later he did a sequel to Dumb and Dumber, but I think the only reason he did it is because he's at that point of his career where his latest movies hasn't been any success and his hay day is basically over, I think today he's more willing to reprise a role as long as the script is good. And yes, I know that Carrey was meant to be in The Mask 2 back in the day, but it got cancelled and I'm pretty sure Carrey was happy that it got cancelled.

The raccoon death scene at the beginning is a remade scene from the Sylvester Stallone 1993 movie 'Cliffhanger'.
You guys need to react to Cable Guy.
When I was watching this movie at a young age, I never figured what Ace was doing in his hut. Around the age of 17 or 18, I was thinking about that scene and realized that he didn't want intimacy with the Princess, but he wound up handling his urge with "time with himself". I could tell by the shallow breaths and knew what he was doing. That realization kinda blew my mind.

from wiki, about flying foxes "Flying fox" redirects here. For other bats known as flying fox, see Acerodon Pteropus (suborder Yinpterochiroptera) is a genus of megabats which are among the largest bats in the world. They are commonly known as fruit bats or flying foxes, among other colloquial names. They live in the South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, East Africa, and some oceanic islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.[3] There are at least 60 extant species in the genus.[4] Flying foxes eat fruit and other plant matter, and occasionally consume insects as well. They locate resources with their keen sense of smell. Most, but not all, are nocturnal. They navigate with keen eyesight, as they cannot echolocate. They have long life spans and low reproductive outputs, with females of most species producing only one offspring per year. Their slow life history makes their populations vulnerable to threats such as overhunting, culling, and natural disasters. Six flying fox species have been made extinct in modern times by overhunting. Flying foxes are often persecuted for their real or perceived role in damaging crops. They are ecologically beneficial by assisting in the regeneration of forests via seed dispersal. They benefit ecosystems and human interests by pollinating plants. Like other bats, flying foxes are relevant to humans as a source of disease, as they are the reservoirs of rare but fatal disease agents including Australian bat lyssavirus, which causes rabies, and Hendra virus; seven known human deaths have resulted from these two diseases. Nipah virus is also transmitted by flying foxes-it affects more people, with over 100 attributed fatalities. They have cultural significance to indigenous people, with appearances in traditional art, folklore, and weaponry. Their fur and teeth were used as currency in the past. Some cultures still use their teeth as currency today. my description of them they look more like K9 then a bat like a K9 with bat wings
