Ace Of Base were phenomenal back in 1993-1996. They were everywhere - radio, TV, magazines. It was crazy! Hysteria, comparisons STRAIGHT with ABBA (everybody forgot about Roxette), the AOB girls were role models for their legion of female fans. And their music was none of the grunge bullshit or hip-hop nonsense. It was beautiful !!

Linn is a shining star that fell down to the stage. Her light took my heart for eternity.

According to all Ace of Base video comments on YT, Linn was, and still is, the most wanted woman in the world. I can see why.

I've been listening to Ace of Base for 20 years they rock !!

Yeah I think it was second album she got tired being the main singer, getting so much attention. She told the band that Jenny should do it so that she could "rest". That's why she was the first to quit the band and never gave an interview again, she never liked being in the spotlight.

I could watch and listen to this over and over all day long and never get sick of it! Testament to just how genius and the perfection of their own uniqueness and style. There is no music of any kind that can be compared to them. Even though maybe some similar influences from ABBA, they still sound very different, futuristic and with all kinds of colored emotional expressions and dimensions. It is so amazing seeing the performances and getting to hear Jenny and Linn sing in a different style!

Linn was so amazing Very unique sounding voice and amazingly beautiful girl. Such charisma, passion and star quality. Too bad she got sick of show business, although I can understand why, it's not for everybody :) But her sultry voice lives on.

Часть 1 Ну представь: тебя еле уговорили пойти на нелюбимую работу, ты чалишься там где-то лет 5 с перебоями, a к тебе ещё и требования повышаются каждый раз все больше и больше. Часть 2 Прессинг от боссов окончательно тебя гневит. Ты решаешь по тихому слиться, вначале сойдя на полставки, а потом просто не появляясь даже на важных ивентах, чтобы потом в один день исчезнуть навсегда. Правда, у тебя были фанаты, которые привязались к тебе в процессе, но на них в принципе пох, они все равно быдло тупое - сегодня любят одно, завтра другое. Часть 3 Ты по спидрану: меняешь имя/фамилию, покупаешь жилье в родном гадюкино, находишь себе в процессе чувачка для сожительства, вкладываешь кучу заработанного бабла в фирму (чтобы налоговая споткнулась) и можно дальше заниматься любой хернёй на свой выбор. Конец: Мог бы всего этого и не делать, если бы в нулевых всем объявил об уходе со сцены и дал финальное интервью. Но этого не произошло и теперь ты вынужден шарахаться от любой камеры, а также отворачивать лицо даже на семейных фото. (Как бы чего не вышло, вдруг кто-то увидит О_о)

in my humble opinion as a musician and a singer and huge fan in my teens of Ace of Base I find it normal for them to fail since they didn't really appreciated Linn. The world appreciated her, but not the males in the band since they were the song writers and I base this critic from an interview of jonas saying he treated the vocals just like any other instrument. That was a statement in which he failed to see the human factor of being a star, Linn was born to be a star, her voice is medium she is not Mariah Carey, but her voice color is so attractive you cannot but listen to her and enjoy her, and its not the blonde hair like many think, it is her energy. People are very attracted to her, something that Jenny even though she is a amazingly good looking woman doesn't have the "star" quality of Linn for a world class fame. Now.... Jenny's voice I think is a soprano and a very good one, her voice is ok in her medium range but amazing in her higher range, the song Waiting for Magic has Jenny shining and she does a great job because she has the goods over there. Linn on the other hand shines at the lower range of vocals, her voice is warm and beautiful. Jonas should have written more club songs for jenny and more medium bit songs for Malin. You have 2 great tools and what do you do after the success? messing it up. Jenny should never have taken the job of Linn, she doesn't have the same qualities for those type of songs and her strengths are elsewhere. Both compliment each other perfectly and this is why they had a huge hit, they had the recipe and they changed it. Now.... Jonas should take some lessons from a chef, when you have a world class recipe, you cannot just change it. Of course many believe that Malin didn't want the fame, Im not sure about that, I think if she was appreciated better maybe she would continue being at the group, who knows what was the dynamic between the 2 sisters and even the jealousy between them, this nobody knows, but if I am correct then Jonas was the one who messed it up. Bad management.

I've always liked Linn's short fringes. They go well with her eyes. People are always talking about their 'All That She Wants' song, but I prefer 'The Sign'.

It's that sympathized Bass, that's why I thought they named the group Ace of Base, but I was wrong. They sounded like a lot of Black groups in the United States using that same instrument. Black Americans loved them, they were being played on Black radio. I was surprised to find out it was a white group, because they had a Black sound. The singing is good, too.

Después de ABBA han sido el mejor grupo sueco Ace Of Base - Pude observar que en las presentaciones de finales de los 90's todavia Linn Berggren se mantenia en el grupo pero se limitaba a tocar los teclados, cediéndole el plano de vocalista de la banda a la hermana Jenny Berggren. De lo poco que he leido en la web es que fueron victima de un ataque por parte de un acosadora y a raíz de esto ella se fue alejando de la banda hasta separarse por completo y dedicarse a llevar una vida común, aparte que tanta fama la asfixio y queria llevar una vida más tranquila.

​@@brunomdiaz6805 No se fue por eso, se alejó porque siempre dijo que la fama la asfixiaba y que no pensaba quedarse en el negocio de la música por mucho tiempo. Aparte Jenny dijo en el documental "Our History" de 1997 que en Linn recaía el peso de ser la imagen principal de la banda y que ella simplemente ya no pudo más. Osea, si Linn no rendía lo suficiente, el grupo empezaba a reducirse a nada. Y con el asunto de Clive Davis que la obligó a cantar otra vez, Jonas dice que fue la razón por la que se alejó. Si no fuera por eso, hubiera seguido en su papel de fondo.

I forgot, they made a concert in Luna Park Stadium (1994) in Argentina too, but don't have any videos. Blessings !!

I never understood how Jenny got such a backlash. She was incredible. Linn had a different voice and the band did evolve after Linn stepped back into a different band. I think the sound grew up too but I also blame Clive Davis and his team for forcing so much change on the band. The Arista deal put so much pressure on them. I feel the latter songs it's pretty much like ABBA. Thematically and soundwise it just grew into a more mature sound. That doesn't always resonate with all fans. I was really into Clara and Julia but they weren't Linn and Jenny and the music was kind of just okay. Ace of Base invented a new genre which is still present today in Gaga and Katy Perry type of music. Nothing sounded like Ace of Base at the time. People used to say Gaga borrowed from Madonna but I always heard Ace of Base in her sound.

Roland Baldwin Linn stepped back to different band??? Who told you that? She quit singing after robbery her familly house. She decided to hide and not to be famous anylonger. She disappeared suddenly, and no one except familly know where she live etc. I am her hudge fan, I spent ages to find out what is going on with her.

Jenny shouldn't get any backlash, period. She is a beautiful and talented woman. It isn't her fault that Linn didn't want to be in the band any more. She had the courage and the love of the music to carry the band without Linn, nothing but props to her. When I first saw Ace of Base, I was a bigger fan of Jenny's than Linn. I always had a predilection for brunettes (also preferred Frida over Agneta) and I loved her higher voice. It is only now, after I've seen all these performances on KZread, that I've come to appreciate how stunning Linn was and the uniqueness of her deeper voice. It is sort of like if Agneta had been the mezo and Frida the soprano. The band was obviously never the same after Linn left. Her unique looks and husky voice made her a captivating front-woman. So, as good as Jenny is, the only thing unique about the band after 1997 was the sound. They were still a good band but they had lost that magic all it seems like only original line-ups have. And though the sisters probably supported Jonas, I think it is a slap in the face for the guys to continue on without either sister. Benny and Bjorn didn't try to carry on as ABBA after the girls left. I am fine with Jonas and Ulf forming a new band, but they should have changed their name. I know they write all the music, but it isn't Ace of Base without the sisters.

​@@shawnn7502 I think Jenny was unlucky because she got her chance in the spotlight just as the music started becoming more generic and forgettable. To me the first album is so far ahead of anything else they did, bar one or two songs. They might have considered it an 'immature' sound but there was just something so compelling about the moody, dark vibe combined with minimalist production. Linn's voice and charisma were a massive part of it of course, but I'm sure they'd have had _some_ success if it had been just Jenny's voice on those songs, just probably not on the same level. Even Ulf said recently he thinks there were only one or two decent songs on Da Capo and I think he's right.

@@tmb8807 Well its even more obvious that they lied about her and Linn. In interviews it always seema that Jenny is kind of cold to Linn and she wanted to be the star. bizarre that the knife incident just happned when Linn and their brother werent there! Second after Linn became quiet and Jenny did the lead (even when she was the main victim) she stated 2009 on twitter that she gonna leave the band but in 2010 claimed in an interview that she never knew the changes her brother made and exchanged her with the 2 other girls. she contradicts herself and i m pretty sure about that Linn found out that she just claimed to be robbed to enter the news and decided to leave. even when the fame wasnt that big before Linn knew that they ll have to take plane trips to at least other european countries to perform and she never seems shy on camera playing or argumenting well with the others.
