For me, it's been a few decades. And it's not "becoming" painful to watch.....it's been painful the entire time.

Gets worse and worse every time I see him, if that's even possible.

He's become a booze hound again...holy shit he was better when he and Peter were on their club tour just before the reunion tour..now his playing is totally shit I wish he would just walk away and we would be glad if he did.
