This is my review for Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits for the Nintendo Switch. Its a fishing game based on a Japanese arcade game of the same name. I imported the deluxe Asia-English version from Play-Asia but you can also get it digitally outside of the EU. Unfortunately, the game isn't officially available inside the EU or in the UK.

Hey man, thanks a lot. Good to see you back in the comments section! Currently working on Hogwarts Legacy for my next review and I'm hoping to get a few codes for some big games during the rest of Feb and early into March. Cheers for giving the video a look!😊👍🏻
I went fishing on a boat once. I can see why I didn't catch anything now, something like a toaster to damage the fish would have been great.

HAHA, just take a Pikachu with you and throw it into the water, I'm sure that'll work lol.
Played the 1st game on my friend's Switch a bit quite a while ago (with peripheral). I remembered it was pretty tiring but maybe because I focused too much on catching the huge fishes.

Oh yea, after playing this one I can totally see that being a thing. Was the 1st on Switch pretty much the same in terms of modes and gameplay? Thanks for watching by the way!

@@ConsolesOnlyGaming I vaguely remember it was pretty bare-boned, no theme park or character creation. The fishing mechanic was pretty much the same, I think.

Well thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!👍🏻😁
Hope you could also review the fishing star world tour bundle also with a fishing rod
Ah gatcha arcade ports. Gotta love them. Honestly game looks fun if you play at your own pace. Pick up and play style. But I see the gatcha getting in the way if you're a completions Honestly I'd much rather play ANOTHER arcade to console port game. Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission. It's a MASSIVE game with over 1k cards to make your own deck even an extensive card editor. Its a phenomenal game and id gladly reccomend it on sale. This game goes on salenfor like 8-9 bucks and as far as vwlue....its a major deal. I will say if you aren't too into the I.P. it can be a little alienating xause the tutorial only gives the bare basics on how the game works...its a surprisingly deep card game

That game is pretty repetitive beyond the deck building part tho. It's not like a real card game where there's RNG and having to mix up play

Yea that's the thing. Its really not a bad thing to play, I think I just had the wrong expectations. In regards to Super Dragon Ball Heroes, I do believe I tried it when it first came out but ended up not really getting into it. I think other stuff came out that I was more interested in and fell of off it so maybe I should give it another go. I know the game isnt exactly based on the new series but, I'm a big fan of Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. However, I'm not really into the newer stuff like Dragon Ball Super. Considering how that game works though, its probably not an issue. Cheers for watching the review and for the suggestion, I shall look into it. Next review should be Hogwarts Legacy and I'll be doing a community post soon with some updates so look out for that😊

@@ConsolesOnlyGaming oh have fun with the game :)
Not familiar with this franchise (arcade or home), but you can always count on Japanese games if you like fishing 😆. Has anybody figured out *why*? My current theory is going fishing means a whole day away from the wife. 🙈 Last game that had rather involved fishing mechanics I played was Tales of Arise, which requires reaction time button presses (different buttons depending on what the fish is doing). The legendary fish are certainly no cakewalks. Still getting through Star Ocean 6 (but very slowly) and I have to wonder if it's going to have fishing as well lol. Disclaimer: it's my first Star Ocean, but the game already has actual umaibou (corn stick snack) item, so I've concluded anything is going to be possible lol!

Haha, could be! I loved Tales of Arise but I didnt do too much of the fishing in that game. I wanna do another playthrough at somepoint and I'll make sure to do more of the fishing😊. Glad you're having a good time with Star Ocean 6, I'm currently working on my review of Hogwarts Legacy and it SHOULD be ready on Monday or perhaps Tuesday at the latest. Thanks for watching as always!😊👍🏻

Hogwarts Legacy looks good, and I'm not even a Potter fan 😆 (only read the first few books, two decades ago? it feels like). Wanted: Dead comes out tomorrow! I have great expectations for that game, and especially expect it to deliver for those of us in our 30s and up. Hope you have it on your to-play list. 🦾

Haha yea, I've heard a lot of people say that! Personally, I do recommend it! I do have Wanted: Dead on my list but it depends on when I can get the review done. I'm hoping for a code for Wild Hearts which is also out soon. My EA contact said I "should" get one but its never a sure thing. I'll have to just buy Wanted: Dead and try to play it as well lol
Seems like a silly game to mess around with at a Party

Yea, I'd say that's a fair assessment lol. Its perfectly fine for what it is. Cheers for watching as always!👍🏻
I'm pretty annoyed that nowadays every game has a fishing mini game, which is most of the time super boring. But this reminds me of all the fun I had with friends playing the fishing game in wii play. I bet this one can also be very fun in co-op.

A JRPG lives and dies by the quality of its fishing minigame

Haha yea, pretty much every RPG has it now. Some are definitely better than others but I dont them in general. Speaking of the Wii, my favourite game on that system was Mad World, would LOVE a new game on Switch (or even a remaster if possible). Also, I agree, I think this is fine for casual play from time to time or with friends/family. Its not bad at all, just not quite what I thought it was gunna be, that's all. Thanks a lot for watching the review, I appreciate it!👍🏻
