It is a career which you can build for yourself in a relatively shorter space of time than other careers and there are lots of options. I would always recommend studying the AAT as I myself sat this and found this a very good building block at the start of my career. I would recommend either obtaining First Intuition AAT books or Osbourne because they are very informative and keep things simple which is what you need when you first start out :) I have a video upcoming to be released hopefully tomorrow which might also help with this area but I hope the above has helped in the mean time.

I did a Level 2 ICB qualification in Bookeeping and I wish I had done AAT instead. I am now doing Level 3 AAT Bookeeping. Would I have missed any learning by not doing the AAT level 2? Also I have noticed that some of the modules in the Bookeeping are the same as the ones for accounting so could I move on to accounting if I wanted? I’m a little confused how to progress after level 3 Bookeeping. Would I do level 3 accounting? I don’t really want to duplicate modules I have already done. Sorry for so many questions! Not only am I trying to learn Bookeeping I’m also trying to get my head around how the qualifications build on each other too! Love your Chanel by the way 🥰

Hello there, i have no background in finance, not the greatest in maths but not bad. I was thinking about starting level 1 book-keeping progressing to level 2 then perhaps level 3. Could i get a job in bookkeeping after doing level 2 with no prior experience? Some places require qualifications, degrees and work experience, what do you know about this and please share, thanks.

Hi hun yes absolutely - the first level at aat is level 2 so I would highly recommend taking a look at this first x

Yes that's true it doesn't guarantee a job however there are far fewer bookkeepers and accountants in ratio to companies, self employed and business owners so there is a talent gap and shortage currently which works in your favour x

hey i’m currently studying for a degree in accounting and finance. From your informative video, i just realised you don’t really need to go university. So what is the point in getting the degree?

Hi hun although you don't necessarily require a degree to study accounting it does provide you with a different skill set to your peers and you would either require aat or university to study ACCA, ACA or another professional accounting qualification x

Hi A.S usually a degree would provide you with exemptions towards the AAT however if you go to the AAT website they have a criteria and exemption checker where you can put in your qualification and it will let you know what exemptions you have :)

Hi Jassy yes certainly you can, I would always say to have a look at apprenticeship schemes to see if there are any employers who are looking for an apprentice and who will pay your study fees and put you through the aat as that way you can also gain experience on the job :)

Hello and thank you for the comment hun, if you are fairly familiar with accountancy or have worked in a similar role such as accounts payable then it might be a good idea to start at level 3 aat however if you go to the aat website there is a test checklist that you can take and the aat will advise you which level might be more suitable x
