I first fell in love with the accordion because of an Italian movie: Pan i Tulipani. Fantastic movie & it hooked me for life.

Absolutely love the accordion - i love the way different countries and regions embraced it and played their own music. And it's a fabulous classical instrument too. Accordion players are a very interesting and diverse breed!

The accordion is like a hybrid of a piano in the right hand, an autoharp in the left hand, and a harmonica on the inside.

I love the accordion to death. I come from a family of brass players ironically. I came to the accordion at 21/22 of age. I am 23 own a hohner panther. Its made my life more fulfilling and i love my accordion and i plan learn more piano accordion when i buy a mignon

Hmm. Interesting observation.

It's strange that no one is talking about the closest cousin of the keyboard accordion - the button accordion (also known in Russia as bayan) in this video. Why is that? It's a unique instrument with a slightly different sound (although high-end Scandalli and Pigini button accordions sound much better than most of the instruments shown in this video.) And I also want to add--part of the "bad rep" of accordions people refer to in this video is due to many (showcased) players being average or below average. I did not hear any good, melodious tunes in this video. And that's a bummer. There is so much great music written for accordions (both, keyboard and button), outside of the umpa-umpa shown here. If you want people to fall in love with this wonderful instrument again, show some good players performing beautiful pieces. Serbia, Brazil, Italy, France, Russia, Ukraine are replete with really talented accordion performers. No one is talking about the decline or falling out of fashion of accordions in those countries. And people like Samuele Telari from Italy would blow your mind away with Bach, Saint-Saens, and Vivaldi performances on button accordion. It's magic what those folks are doing out there.

Nott a single mention of the greatest accordion player of all time in the genra of "merengue ripeao" LADY FEFITA la GRANDE. from D.R

How many people have heard of Mario Mosti? Used to be you could still find his new reproduction cd available, private offering, and he was still alive in a retirement home, perhaps Pennsylvania.

Wellm cnt include everything. I mostly worked with thoe I had access to.

As baby boomers we were taught to hate the accordion. Even my grandfather called it the Stomach Steinway. This was unfortunate.

The instrument and music are complementary and separate.

Great documentary but the Czech, Slovak, Polish and German accordion music is alive and well in Texas, Nebraska Kansas, Minnesota, Illinois and so many more states with only a bleap of a mention.
