    Hi Sara! Your comment is the nicest comment I have ever received! Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so happy you found value in the video. I remember when I was creating my UX Research portfolio presentation for a job interview. I couldn't find resources for UX Research portfolio presentations, only UX Design.

    Hey Kelly, i generally document my case studies on medium. Does that works or do i need to make those in the form of slides??

  • @UXRKelly

    @UXRKelly

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Rajdeep! You could document your case studies in Medium. I'd say the industry standard leans more toward a portfolio website. At the end of the day, the format of your portfolio, for example, using medium or a personal website is not as important as the content you fill it with! Use the format that will help showcase what you did and what you learned the best!

    Hi Kelly! Love your content! 🤩🤩 I am myself in this UX Research field and been looking to see what you could recommend in terms of the laptop. As a UX Researcher I wonder if you would recommend to have a 14inch or 16inch laptop to work on when doing a daily tasks, such as conducting or analysing the research? 🌻

    Hi Indre! Thanks for much!! I'd recommend a larger screen, 16 inches, if you're working off your laptop. Last year, I invested in two 27-inch monitors with an external keyboard, mouse, speaker, microphone, and webcam. I have my laptop closed but connected as the computer is powering it all. It has been life-changing, to be honest. I was never interested in a desk setup because I loved working from the couch. I'm WAY more productive with the desk setup. I could never go back now. If you buy one external monitor and a mouse you will notice a big difference in your productivity.

    hi Kelly. this was super helpful for me so thank you for creating this content. did your portfolio include more than one case study? or is one amazing case study usually sufficient enough?

  • @UXRKelly

    @UXRKelly

    I'm glad it was helpful! Yes, my portfolio included three case studies. I'd recommend definitely having one solid portfolio piece ready to present during an interview. Typically an employer will ask you to present two case studies. A good rule of thumb is to have 3 case studies in your portfolio to show diversify your experience. My three case studies after my boot camp were adding a new feature to an existing product, redesigning a website, and designing a new product.

    I think for interviews sometimes they would ask you to present your portfolio, and sometimes they may have loads of questions to test you without you present. For the presentation type of interview how many projects do you suggest presenting? I think your context is very detailed with UX interface design. I have heard people suggest 2-3 projects, but it may take too long? I failed twice as my presentation was a bit too long, with 2-3 projects. How long did you present yours, I see the length of your video is 10 mins, if I have 2 projects maybe the length also should be 10mins? Thank you, quite struggle with it, also when you have UX and Research together, the project become much more detailed than just a UXR presentation.

    Hey Yuxuan! Agreed the presentation isn’t the entire interview. I suggest focusing on one to two strong projects. Present each project for 10-15 mins. Focus on the pieces of the project that were the most relevant to the outcome of your project. Allow 5-10 mins for them to ask you questions about the projects. I completed a UX design boot camp. It didn’t hurt to showcase that I knew a little about design too as a junior researcher. I actually cut much of the UX portions out of this presentation to try to only bring in the designs when they were changed or influenced by the research insights I gathered.

    Ux reseach presentations can very depending on the skills you bring into the role from your previous work. The goal of ux research is to provide recommendations to influence the design or product so showcasing changed designed based on your research can show that your research turned into actionable insights that led the product in a better direction.
